Just LOVELY — great wine, round, no hard edges, fully mature, i.e. will no longer improve, but may be nicely drinkable for an additional couple of years.

Haven't had this for a while - and was tremendously pleased: perfect ripeness, wonderfully balanced, dense, with typical Alscacian "dry" Riesling "fatness" - compared to "dry" German Rieslings from almost all corners in Germany. Reminded me of "old-fashioned" Heymann-Löwenstein Riesling BEFORE he thought he had to "purify" his wines, i.e. after 2011/12/13. Excellent P/Q ratio also. Curious to see how long this will last (luckily I am on my way to Alsace - and will certainly stop by to buy more from recent vintages; price has only marginally increased).

A lot of hype for this wine via Wine Spectator, but this is indeed a very good St. Émilion - The close to 100 percent Merlot is clearly discernible, dense, full bodied, dark fruit, cherries, sweet tannins. Looking forward to more of this during the next ten years.

thick and dense; drunk in direct comparison with Emrich-Schönleber's 2006 Halenberg GG (which I rated 95 points - an absolute highlight of dry, deeply mineral German Riesling) Thörle's Riesling Probstey is much fatter, more peach than citrus, but certainly an excellent example of an up-and-coming younger generation of German wine growers (which the Thörles' certainly are - just try their incredible 2009 Silvaner Probstey, the best Silvaner I have ever had).

This is terrific: fresh with a clear and deep mineral taste, one of the best German Große Gewächse I ever had; reminds me of the best of Keller (Hubacker, Abtserde) and Dönnhoff's Dellchen - although the latter have (far) less of the mineral depths of the Halenberg. It would be interesting to see how this fares in 10 years down the road.....

excellent, terrific!! One of the best German Silvaner I ever had. Stuart Pigott compared it with the "legendary white wines from the Domaine Coche-Dury" (which I never had and probably would never want to buy given their prices) but from knowing a few expensive white Burgundies I can imagine what they must be like.

excellent wine, sweet dark fruit, yet surprisingly tannic - at least if compared with expectations based on other tasting notes; can wait for another year but given the terrific Syrahian fruit that may be difficult

somewhat disappointing; this is a solid, fully ripe, classic Paulliac, but compared to the 1996 Duhart-Milon (Rothschild) which I had in parallel this is much less expressive; certainly not worth the price it is currently traded.

this is an extraordinary wine, easily competing with the very best "Grosse Gewächse" (Gran Cru) among Germany's top Riesling producers: a profound, rich and very mineral wine with hints of petrol and led pencil which I had in the past only experienced from the very best dry Riesling from Keller and Wittmann. One of the explanations for this great success for the young Florain Fauth is that "Steingrube" is just adjacent to Morstein and Abtserde, where Keller and Wittmann grow their best white wines.

Given the price you pay directly at the vinery (an incredible EUR 4,30 per bottle) this is an extraordinary Riesling. I´ll bet that it will hold up easily in a blind tasting even with the best "Grosse Gewächse" from Germany´s top Riesling producers.

Had this twice now; deep, full-bodied Bordeaux with lots of creme de cassis, superb ripeness and noticable, but appealing tannins. Drinking it in parallel to the much praised La Vielle Cure of the same year it was clearly much more accessible - and by far the better deal at a third of the price.

exzellent; deutliche Saar-typische, mineralische Noten - und dies nahezu gänzlich ohne die für 2003 typische, säurearm-alkoholische Schwere; mit Potenzial für weitere 5-7 Jahre;

INDEED: an almost unbeatable Nebbiolo-based wine as far as QPR is concerned - and since www.Ronaldi.de now has it on sale for EUR 14,95 you better pick up another case if you can - and as long as it lasts... Now is not the time, though, to fully enjoy this, but in 1-2 years things will start to brighten up. And I guess Antonio Galloni is right that it will last at least until 2018.

One of the best, perhaps THE best value when it comes to dry Mosel Riesling expressing the unique schistous character of the "Terrassen"-Mosel. Reinhard Löwenstein is the Robin Hood of German winemakers: he fights for genuine, terroir-based wines without any concession to what a globalized market supposedly asks for. The 2004 Schieferterrassen is a dry, opulent Riesling with exellent purity and freshening minerals. This is not very far from the very best (and rare) of Reinhard´s wines, for example Reinhard´s 2002 Riesling Uhlen Laubach, the wine which won the prestigeous »vin étranger de l’année« from Bettane&Dessauve in 2005 (aside of Chateaux Latour as "wine of the year").

smooth, richly textured red with all the facets of a great Bandol; in comparison with other great Bandols (such as Pibarnon and Pradeaux) few hard hedges and already drinkable at this young age. The wine will, however, improve over time and will certainly display all the distinctive features of the Mourvedre grape.

excellent, off-dry / delicately sweet Saar-Riesling with animating acidity, lots of ripe fruit and freshening minerals ("Rotschiefer"); due to its comparatively low levels of alcohol there is neither the need nor the option to feel remoresful after having finished a bottle ....

This is what the Scharzhofberg is best known for!! It is also Roman Niewodniczanski´s best Schwarzhofberger ever - the "Catherine Deneuve" of his wines, as he put it when he presented his 2005 collection in Wiltingen this past weekend. It is a precisely delineated and at the same richly textured dry Riesling, full of minerals ("Blauschiefer") and ripe, yellow fruit.
