Upon first opening, very jammy with lots of heat and cherry notes. Almost like a pinot. Opened up a little bit later on, and expressed some other notes, but still WAY too young.

soft aroma, but strong red sweet fruit on the pallet, and just when it is about to become a bit overwhelming, a smokey, meaty note comes in and rides the pallet for over 30 seconds. This wine is just now coming into its own

Unbelievable layers of flavors - smoke, earth, chocolate milk, raspberry, and they just keep coming. The nose was out of this world.

Very good, and really hitting it's stride right now, if you have this drink it in the next 2 years.

Decanted 5 hours and I think that is what it needed. Best of all the bottles of this wine I have had thus far.

Great fruit, bright acidity, secondary flavors starting to come thru. The nose had spice, red fruit, and a bit of smoke.

No doubt a great wine, but I think it has seen better days. 2000 was not a great vintage for Napa already, but this wine showed surprising structure and acidity, it just lacked the fruit notes that I would have liked. A lot of herb and bell pepper on the palate but still a great nose.

Fruit!?!? Where'd ya go, just some earth and an odd bit of flint in there - not really worth drinking, hopefully my other bottles are in better shape.

Good depth of flavor after 2.5 hours of decanting. Good structure, perhaps another 6-10 years left, but already delicious. The red fruit has started to fade, leaving wonderful flavors of smoke earth and tar.

Great structure, developed tannins, and fruit that was sweet, but not too sweet. A little high in alcohol, but the structure and acidity of this wine held it together. yummy!

Good drink, soft tannins, and velvety. There was a lot of Green olive though, that was a bit overwhealming. Not bad at all

Very good, after 2 hour decanting. nose of raspberry, smoke, and cinnamon. Pallate was quite similar with very round soft tannins

Decanted this for about 4 hours, before rebottling to take to dinner. The heat never really burned off on this, though after sitting in the glass for another 2 hours, the wine really started to open up with lots of blackberry and charcoal notes coming thru. The nose was still quite tight

Delicious CDP. wonderful fruit and and earth. After two hours in the decanter, there was not a lot of heat, and the tannins were wonderfully present but round. lot of red fruit, spice, and sirloin characteristics

Nose was very sweet, almost of grape juice . . . the pallate had excellent texture, alcohol was in balance, and a decent display of fruit. Not great with food, but an excellent wine for drinking on its own

very similar to the last bottle, but this with a little bit more spice to it. This was also opened longer than the previous bottle. This would be excellent with a roast sirloin

Decanted for 2 hours . . . . initially some heat on first pour, but after about 20 minutes in the glass notes of leather, red berry, cherries, and cinnamon? showed up. Tasted amazing, a little spice that softened wonderfully as we worked our way thru the bottle. Worked great with the bone in rib-eye. This is not a subtle bottle of wine.

Great nose of earth, smoke, and mushroom. Pallate showed hints of strawberry, blueberry, and smoke. A delicious wine, though the aftertaste did not linger for as long as I like, and the wine started to lose it's "pinash" after only 2-3 hours.

Much better than the first bottle. More fruit, and a sweeter nose. Secondary notes of leather and must added a nice character to the wine, as well a bit of fig, and an almost port aftertaste, but no the consistancy

Decanted for two hours, and expected magic based on everything that I had heard about this wine. The nose was still muted, the tannins were rounded towards the end. It had great mouth feel, but the pallette was mostly smoke, which overpowered a subtle cherry and strawberry fruit characteristic. Maybe it needed a few more hours, but I will definitely wait 5-7 years before opening the other bottle.

Not sure this was a perfect bottle. Cork looked fine, and initial nose was good with slight red fruit and smoke. When the wine had time to breath, a little bit of a vinegary taste.
