This has been my favorite California wine. Too bad it’s no longer being made, since the winery has closed. It’s a GSM blend with a unique balance of flavors.

The color is deep purple. An intense nose suggests spices and dark fruits. The wine has big fruit up front, but it resolves into a dry mid-palate with good acidity.

The juice of Grenache is given added character with the chalky Syrah and inky Mourvedre. I will miss the TH Estate wines, especially The 46!

Light nose, not much there
Thin on the palate at first, but long and not overly fruity
Good acidity, smooth finish, more French style than a typical Rioja
Solid QPR, would buy again

This was disappointing. As expected, initially very restrained nose and tight palate. Decanted and waited 3 hours. Still very little fruit, lots of chalky tannin, but good structure. Some fruit, but overall not balanced. May be the vintage, but it’s apparently not ready to drink.

This needed at least an hour decant, and even then it was still very closed. I didn’t get any Grenache fruit, but lots of Syrah and Mourvèdre structure was present. Needs time to settle down.

After visiting the winery and tasting this several years ago, it remains my favorite Paso wine. The nose is open with dark berry and plum notes. The up-front fruit of the Grenache is balanced by the hardness of the Syrah, which remains even after 10 years in the bottle. It is big, but not too hot to be paired with food. I prefer this non-reserve version to the more refined reserve bottlings from TH, because the original 46 is bright, chewy, and complex enough to be unique and memorable.

Decanted 2 hours, deep red color, a bit cloudy, but no sediment
Nose has hints of spice and earth
First taste is mostly dark red fruit and tannin
Each subsequent sip reveals more complex fruit Palate is smooth, chewy, not yet soft
At 3 hours, just delicious and long with unique and pleasant aftertaste that says drink more
So glad I finally opened and tasted this

I popped and poured, color was nice off-red as expected. Nose promised much, but first taste was an odd sweetness on the palate followed by a tight, dry finish. Decanted and tasted again. Improved a lot, but still not balanced at all. I have to agree with the previous reviewer about a chemical taste too. A shame, I was expecting more from this young Rioja.

Pop and pour, inky purple in the glass.
Hints of vanilla and plum on the nose.
Smooth, long palate, but kind of closed. More Syrah than Grenache. It's a very refined wine, but I also prefer the chewy fruit of the non-reserve 46.

Off-red color, a bit cloudy
Nose is characteristically Pinot, but too floral
Thin, sweet, kind of cloying on the palate
Not really a bad wine, but not great either
Maybe it would be better if they just used the Monterey juice ...

Deep purple, cloudy, opaque at the start, then cherry red
Nose is loud ... Forest floor, musty, woody
Complex, solid, deep and satisfying on the palate
It is big ... So what?
20 mins in the glass and it's ready
Benchmark value Bordeaux performing above its price point

Clear ruby color in the glass. A nose that changes from cherry and tea leaves initially to ginger and spices after an hour or so. Clean finish on the palate that makes you want to revisit. Not a typical SCM Pinot at all ... First class, probably will improve over time.

Opened and poured, nice ruby red color. Open fruit on the nose, cherry, vanilla. Nice balance on the palate, some tannin, good structure. Toasty oak, not overly fruity. Not thick or big - agree that style is more Sonoma than Paso. Good value.

This was a much-anticipated bottle served with Christmas dinner. I didn't do the "Mollydooker Shake," but decanting did reveal the nitro bubbles. The wine has an intense purple color in the glass. Nose is an open expression of dark berry, plum, and jam. Delicious, a bit big, but right for this type. Not for the faint of heart.

Served this on XMAS eve with a crab and avocado salad. Bright straw color, neutral nose. Crisp on the palate with citrus and pear notes. Great sweet/tart balance, but otherwise not remarkable. Maybe best price performance for a Riesling?
