This opened up nicely over the course of a couple hours. Big Napa Cab. Somewhat grippy tannins. Well balanced. Clearly well made wine. Good QPR.

Fantastic Christmas Eve choice. Ripe red cherry along with lively acidity. This paired perfectly with French cut pork rack. I think with more age this could get even better.

Fantastic Zin. High acidity. Old style, not overly jammy. Actually paired nicely with Indian food.

Pretty standard RR style Pinot. Bright acidity, tart red fruit, along with nice finish. This is well made but there are others at this price point that I would pick.

PnP. Deep red color. This wine offers shows mixed berries and cinnamon. This is a fruit forward style Cab with a medium finish. Fairly one dimensional. Not one for long aging IMO.

Parents are in town and I opened something different. This is a BIG Pinot. This wine has a beautiful bouquet of flowers on the nose. Dark cherries and baking spices stand out on the pallet. Really nice acidity suggesting of ability to age. I think another 3 to 5 years to really shine, but is drinking extremely well now.

I enjoyed this one even more than I did a couple years ago. This wine was much more evolved. Still plenty of fruit present, but it’s balance really shined. I will wait a couple years before opening another one.

This was the absolute wine of the night. For the price point this honestly can’t be beat IMO. Drinks like a much more expensive wine. This is one that does not need to be held for years to enjoy. Sublime— chocolate, coffee, dark fruit, velvety texture.

Once the funk blew off it was a beauty. Almost an hour decant. Day 2 its elegance really shined through. Another one to drink up as I do not see it improving with time.

Cherries. Bright acidity. Medium bodied. I think I opened a bit young, but it developed nicely over time in the glass. This may be better in 2-4 years.

This could have been a wine of the night but we had opened another that topped (2002 Leo Poyferre). Still an absolute stunner that paired perfectly with wagyu short ribs. Would have been even better with another 5 years of age.

This is probably my most favorite second label. Togni wines are better consumed after some time in the bottle (ideally +5 years). Decanted for 2 hours and was drinking well, but was really shining on day 2. I will wait a couple years before opening another one.

Not as exciting as my prior bottle. Definitely near end of life. My initial reaction was it was past its prime, but opened up after about an hour in the glass. Dusty flowers, earth, and leather on the pallet. Subdued nose. Still some decent acidity. Do not hold this one any longer.

This needed air to really show itself. I should have decanted. Complex and beautiful. Cured meats, black fruit, spice, licorice, limestone. This should improve with a bit more time in the bottle.
