Strong mountain cab, this is my last bottle and I think it has aged well over the years, full bodied big flavored cab, midpalate has gained depth with a dark choco vanilla texture, bing cherry as well, I think its nearing peak and should be enjoyed now or soon. I think it was in the low 90s during its early years where it was not as well balanced. I think its a touch higher now. -S

Its just about year since my last notes, flavor notes seem to be similar but I sense that its gaining some depth and opened up earlier. Fruit forward in nature, darker fruit dominant, midpalate is bit disjointed and the tannins to mellow out to gain a higher score. Finish is solid. Moved it up a point to 92. -S

For such a young cab, it is lively with a solid nose. Good fruit on the front and some earthiness and dark choco notes in the midpalate but the flavors lack a bit of depth at this young age. I think its got decent structure to improve with 1 - 3 years. 91 but i think it can go higher. -S

I enjoyed this malbec which I thought I had very good fruit on the front, blueberries, bing cherry and cranberry notes. Midpalat had a good sweetness with toffee notes, Solid finish. Could use a year or 2 but it is drinking particularly well now. Low 90s -s

Its been about a year since I have it and it has certainly improved. Decant atleast 2 hours as it need time to open up. The nose which was non existent on first pour opened up with black fruit and dark chocolate. I think it is gaining some depth, fruit is starting to show but far from peak, sense black cherry on the front, a crisp midpalate bittersweet choco and cedar, finish is chewy with some legs. Should improve with a few more years. lows 90s. -s

While it was a pleasure to drink, I think it could use a few more years to peak or flush out the midpalate a bit. I would give it a good decant (1+ hours) as it evolved well over 2 - 3 hours. Dark black fruit dominant with very good complexity and balance, the sweet notes in the midpalate have not fully grown but did see hints of cocoa and vanilin. mid 90s but with a few more years it will get better. -S

Has everything that you want from a flavorful cab, great depth, complexity and full of fruit with balanced midpalate into a very long lasting finish. Even the color is impressive jet black with red on the edges, aromas were rich black licorice, vanilla, spice, cocoa, several layers of black and red fruit on the front, velvety mouthcoating midpalate with vanilla, caramel, light tobacco, cherry, it is drinking poignantly well not but does have the structure to further improve. Mid 90s. -S

Certainly a massive Petite syrah which just layers and layers of fruit, blackberry, blueberry, plum, black cherry, i was expecting more tannin but it had a fairly crisp demeanor, complex with a structure that will improve with more time, very tight on the open, so i would decant 1 - 2 hours, low 90s with upside. -S

Another great CDP from 2007, still very young but has the structure to improve over several years, let it decant for atleast an hour as it is pretty tight on the open, the nose is phenomenol offering licorice, dark berries and spice, full bodied, rich well integrated black and red fruits on the front, fantastic grenache. mid 90s. -S

Another strong cab from Lewelling, a mild fruit forward style, a balanced midpalate highlighted by complex layers of sweetness dancing with dense chocolate, vanilla and light tobacco notes, I thought the front was red fruit dominant. Full bodied throughout, with a smooth flavorful finish which i think needs time to add body. It will improve with time but drinking well for a young age now after a good hour in the decanter. Mid 90s with upside with time. -S

Solid cab that needs time to open up, it got much better after an hour in the decanter, full bodied, darker/black fruit dominant on the front, mid palate also had darker notes, dark chocolate/tobacco, finish was ok, the midpalate did not have the depth or complexity for a higher score imo but its a fun cab to drink. low 90s and could improve with a few more years. -S

Winery Tasting with Hayfork at the Lewelling Ranch which offered a fun and beautiful setting at the Lewelling Ranch. With that said, I thought this was another great rendition of Lewelling grapes. Fruit forward darker berry dominant, balanced sweetness and earth tones throughout the midpate, finish has very good legs. Low 90s but it needs more time to brighten. Good longer term potential. -S
