I a very good place right now. On the plateau in my opinion. Pushes all the classic Bdx buttons and in a fairly balanced way. Some may find the initial barnyard notes too much, but don't worry - they wear off within 10-15 minutes.

This is still youthful, but much more open than a similar bottle tasted 2 months ago. Charming right out of the bottle and with the Calon Segur trademark : balance. It is still primary and classic, so it has a long life ahead of it. Will be a challenge to wait with the few remaining bottles.

What an achievement by Jean-Jacques and his team. This is already an absolute beaty that will develop for many years to come. If you can refrain from drinking it now that is. All the Classic notes you expect from a great Pessac White so quite expressive - but the balance is what nakes it stand out. Kudos.

This is gradually climbing the ladder. It is a wild and untamed wine that changes all the time in the glass - never fully in balance but always fascinating. My guess is that it needs another 5 years or maybe even more to calm down. All the classic Barolo characteristics are in there.

Another one from the Bucket List ticked off. The style of this legendary Wine is not exactly up my alley, but this is evidently craftmanship of the finest kind. Although a baby still, the elegance and balance is striking and the tannins so friendly, that it is a great joy to drink even at this point. I suspect it will add some complexity with age.

What a wine. Not the least bit tired. If anything we drank this too early - but keep in mind that it was from magnum. It has all the classic features you hope to find in a great right bank wine. Loads of dark berries and by now accompanied with more earthy notes. Delicious.

Fully consistent with previous note. Drank this from magnum. It has - or rather would have had - a long life ahead of it, but it is drinking very well indeed right now.

Probably at the peak of its life. Perfectly mature Bdx. From the best terroir in Bdx? Off course not, but it illustrates that Cantemerle can mature very well in great vintages. That magnum effect has undoubtedly played a role in this.

Tasted from magnum. Great and well made Wine, that needs more time to fully blossom. This is in late primary phase and hence a little linear. I have little doubt that there is a good 2-3 points hiding in there. Will keep the rest for at least 5 more years. I hope.

What a different from previous note. Drank this from magnum, which clearly makes a different. This seamed to be on its absolute peak. Served after an impeccable Montrose 06 - and it outshun that one with a margin. This was indeed Bordeaux toujours Bordeaux

This will likely be a Wine deserving a higher score in 5 years time. It seems to be in a slightly dull phase on the Brink of entering the secondary phase. Very pleasant but surprisingly monochrome right now. Wait.

Beautiful wine that offers great drinking pleasure now and will undoubtedly continue to do so and continue to develop for years to come. The balance and elegance is admirable. On the one hand it would be interesting to see how this develops over the next 20 years - on the other hand it will be incredibly challenging for the remaining bottles to dodge the corkscrew for that long.

Terrific wine. Wish I had more.
This is in some sort of a drinking window, but there is absolutely no need to hurry. It will develop beautifully for years to come. There is so much structure and fruit in this, that these two components will continue their tango and develop into God knows what.
Purity over power - elegance over expression. Right down my alley.

This was somewhat disappointing given the vintage. Served blind and - with some doubt - guessed correctly to be right bank from a warm year. Decent merlot character but short of structure to tighten up this dark fruit. I am absolutely positive, that others will find greater pleasure in this than me, so I will stay away from this in the future.

Not my kind of wine. Warm, friendly dark fruits with a marked touch of vanilla from the oak that cannot entirely hide a clear fingerprint from the rather high alcohol level. (15%)
I desperately miss the structure and backbone that proper acidity could have provided if present.
Super well made and I guess all of the above is mainly a function of deliberate choices by the winemaker combined with the options that the climate and the soil provide - for better or worse.

Nice showing hinting towards a much younger albeit aged Wine. How should you rate such a Wine? On an absolute basis or relative to its age? The 90 points are absolute. It would rate much higher on a relative scale. Acidity is off course low, but there is still a very pleasant fruit and loads of tertiary notes with mushroom, the scent of autumn forest etc

An exceptionally good bottle. I had other MR85’s that were far less coherent. I served it to a group of competent tasters who identified the vintage and the first growth status. They could only agree on one thing thereafter - that it most definitely was not the MR. And I fully understand. The bottle has only been in 2 good cellers since release which helps. Fully Mature beautiful classic Bdx with all that comes with that.

This is simply drinking very well right now. Primary fruit intact with some secondary notes kicking in. In makes little sense to compare this to its Big Brother (or Sister rather) but rather enjoy it in its own right. This is not - an probably not meant to either - a deep and complex wine, but it is very enjoyable indeed.

I have noted previous notes calling a “past it’s prime” verdict. Since this was my first, I cannot claim for sure that this is a misperception. I can only relate to the content as it presents itself right now, and that is simply a treat. This had fruit and secondary notes by the buckets and an amazing balance that put a smile on everyone’s face in this blindtasting. Wish I had more

Beautiful colour, pure refined nose. An almost feminine Wine. The question of relativity come into play when judging Wine of this age. Do you judge the Wine in absolute terms or take the age into account?
Truly an amazing effort given its 75 years of age. I Think this has been a greater Wine at several younger ages, but it is still very enjoyable and a true academic joy. 92 points disregarding the age and I leave it up to you how much you want to add for age. (Ww2 tasting in CPH)

This is great. Similar style to Bartoli Mascarello. Appears very pure with a natural focus on fruit and terroir and no signs of new barriques. Potential for a higher score because it is still a Young Wine. Very hard not to open though

Excellent Wine with the most wonderful bouquet of rasperry and strawberry fields. This is nowhere near its peak, partly revealed from the fact that the nose is initially far more open that the palate.
Save it or give it a good airing.

My Burg-geek friends might mock me for drinking this much too early. Now whereas that might be true it is absolutely singing right now. The nose is fantastic. Yes off course it is primary but in an ever so charming Way. This guy knows his grapes and how to bring forward the cleanest fruit possible. Wish I had more

It was probably a bit early to drink this Wine, but it is a very charming spot now. The fruit is clean and really good, there were no signs of reservation but rather a friendly palate with primarily Dark berries and a bit of Spice.

Moved up one notch compared to previous note. Opened 3 hours in advance and put in decanter before serving. That did the trick. Excellent Wine in the Old School Bordeaux style at or close to it’s peak. I think.

I beg to differ with some of the previous notes about the maturity and peak of this wine. For me it is still in its infancy - or at least I hope so.
It is oppulent with some charm after proper airing right now, but there might be good things to come for the patient ones. This has really good chances of coming together nicely some day. In the current state I find it a bit too loud, if you know what I mean.

For me this is in a great spot right now. It has opened up and let go of the slightly more tightfisted nature, that it has had previously. Classic Pauillac in a great but perhaps not necessarily classic vintage. Will look to buy more.

06 is yet another year living in the shadow of a truly great prior vintage, but to me this is a classic Bordeaux vintage with good fruit and great acidity. LP has made an excellent wine that is by no means finished developping, but is drinking really well right now with some airing.

This is an unusual bright, light and elegant Vougeraie at least compared to my - maybe outdated? - experience with the Domaine. This has tended towards more expressive wines with more dark fruit. Maybe it's the vintage? It suits the wine very well and I look forward to follow the development of this nice Clos de Vougeot
