I managed to purchase this in a six pack with a discount reducing the price to $7.50pb. Amazing quality for the price. Good smooth fruit, melded with the tannins, acid and wood. Delightful mouth feel. Hard to put down. 91

Still in a secondary stage. Dark red, almost black through to a thin clean red edge. Loads of cassis and red berries, wood acid and tannins blending with the fruit to give a lovely body and good length. If you are holding any this will continue to develop over the next decade. 93

Good colour, good structure, nice balance of Heathcote and Grampians fruit with a light touch of pepper entwined with ripe but not overripe fruit and subtle wood. good line of light acid with smooth tannins. Approachable now but good to cellar for another 5 years, possibly longer. 90+

Big fruit but balanced by the wood acid and tannins. Approachable now but still very youthful. Very good wine, will improve over the next decade but watch the alcohol. One to share with family and friends. 93

Still going strong in late secondary stage. Would probably have lasted another decade. Slight bricking at the edges, still dark red. Bouquet a mixture of cassis, blue berries and red berries, cigar box, hints of mint and eucalypt. Pretty much the same on the palate, layer upon layer of differing flavours, with some chopped tobacco emerging late. 93+

Opened before dinner, half a bottle poured off and sealed for the next night. Beautiful fragrance of fruit, licorice, and subtle vanilla oak. First sip, blown away by the layers of flavour, cassis, plums, red and black berries, licorice, subtle oak, smooth tannins and a nice line of acid. The wine continued to evolve and delight through the course of the meal and the half bottle put aside for the next night didn't make it. 92+

Under cork with barely a millimetre of creep around the base of the cork. Deep dark red through to the edges. No sign of bricking or browning. Loads of fruit, cassis, red and black berries, hints of mint and eucalypt, pencil shavings/cigar box. Still in a secondary stage of development, no leather or shoe shine or wood polish. Excellent body and length. Likely to cellar for another 5-10 years. 93+ 8)

Dark red through to the edges. Luscious body, cassis (black currants and red currants) ripe but not overripe, typical quality Coonawarra fruit with hints of mint and eucalypt intermingled, good cedary oak supporting the fruit and not dominating. Drinking well now and likely to cellar for another 5-8 years. 91

An absolute delight. The cork broke on extraction but the seal was very good with barely one mil of creep around the base of the cork. Decanted through a fine cloth to pickup any cork crumbs, minimal silt. Half a bottle put aside for tomorrow night. Dark red red through to the edges, no sign of browning perhaps a little bit of crumbling at he edge. Bouquet of plum and dark berries with a hint of aged wood/wood polish and then a hint of milk chocolate and mint. Pretty much the same on the palate but the balance was lovely. A luscious wine worth every bit of the dollars and capable of a few more years in the cellar.

Consumed over two nights, really opened up on the second night to reveal the depth of fruit, mocha, a hint of aniseed and typical shiraz pepper. All balanced out with a subtle line of acid and dusty tannins. Still evolving and worth hanging on to some for another 5 plus years.

Still a baby. Luscious fruit, subtle wood, smooth tannins, acid in balance, lingering length, will last another decade plus but drinking exceptionally well now. Was only supposed to share a half bottle with roast lamb Sunday lunch, but as the afternoon and evening unfolded the bottle simply evaporated. 93+

The previous tasting note should refer to the "Eden Valley" not the "Clare Valley". This bottle was consumed over two nights. Deep red with almost golden hues at the edges. The fruit, wood and acid are in balance providing a luscious wine with soft silky tannins. Drinking really well now and one bottle left for further down the road. 92

This was very pleasing. Magnum with cork seal. Cork broke into two pieces as extracted but what little crumbs of cork there were was removed during decant into two decanters (through a fine cloth). This also removed some fine sediment. Allowed to breathe for close to two hours. In the glass the colour was a dark red tending to brick red, in the decanters the colour was impenetrable black, the bouquet was lush fruit red and dark berries and a splash of chopped tobacco/cigar box. The fruit, wood and acid were all in balance. Full bodied, excellent length and still in a mid secondary stage. If you have any magnums you could safely cellar them for another decade. 93+

One of the first Pyrus under screw cap, this took years to open up but at 15 years of age it has now fully moved from the youthful (slightly green) phase into the secondary stage with very smooth tannins, lush fruit and subtle acid. Typical Coonawarra Eucalypt/light mint and a touch of chopped tobacco/cigar box. A delight to drink and should continue to evolve for another 5 years plus. 93.

Very smooth on the front and mid palate with reasonable length, exceptional value for the auction price paid. Will cellar for another 5-8 years easily.

Five years on and this has barely changed, colour still youthful, still closed when first opened, but after two hours in the decanter the fruit prevails with background wood, tannins and acid in balance. If anything it is even smoother on the palate, luscious body, excellent length and lingering flavours. Still holds promise for the future in the cellar. 94

Still a bit closed initially when opened, needed a bit of breathing time. Dark red through to a clear meniscus. Dark berries and plum with smooth tannins and integrated acid. some savoury/gamey notes (but that could have been influenced by the crackers with Brie and Salami). Creamy wood, perhaps a hint of nutmeg with background pepper. Consumed over three nights. If anything it had developed a slightly fuller body on the third night (no crackers with brie and salami). While drinking very well now it is probably still in the middle of its secondary stage of development. Good value at $30.00pb, a bargain at the epicure price of $21.90pb. 92

2 Years on from the last bottle and still light straw/gold in colour. Citrus florals on the bouquet with Lemon/lime/toast with honey & stone fruits on the palate. Acid seemed a little more subdued but this could have been that a half bottle was set aside in the fridge for two days. Still has the potential for further development in the cellar for anyone that has kept some for the longer haul. delicious.

Well I am consistent. The half bottle put aside for the following night did not make it. Four years on from the last bottle and the wine is still a baby but developing into a beauty. Luscious, full bodied, beautiful ripe McLaren Vale fruit, tannin and acid in balance, integrated wood, length on the back end and lip smacking on the front end. Watch for the sediment in the last glass, would benefit from a decant through a filter and an hours breathing time. 94+

Half the magnum was poured off to two half bottles for later in the week. The remaining half was poured into a decanter and allowed to breath for one and a half hours. The wine was consumed over a slow lunch of Roast Rib Eye and roast vegetables. From first sip the wine was an absolute delight. Bouquet of dark plums, red and black berries, dark chocolate and a hint of spice. Very dark red, almost black (typical of the Barossa), with red brick edges showing some brown. Big body, plum, berries, dark chocolate, integrated acid and wood with soft tannins. A real delight, I look forward to the two half bottles over the next couple of days. 93

Something different. Unashamedly from the Riverina. Dark red with hints of purple. Lightly spiced red berries, plum, subtle savoury notes, soft tannins and light acid. Doesn't feel like 14% alcohol, well integrated, one to be careful with. Rolls smoothly across the palate with moderate length. Went really well with the Spinach and Ricotta Cannelloni in a tomato sauce. Very nice.

After Five years pretty much nothing has changed, maybe a little bit smoother if that was possible. Dark plum colour with crimson edges, ripe fruit but not over sweet, good body, lingering flavours, well balanced wood acid and fine tannins. Excellent length. Still in a very good drinking window and will continue to develop in the cellar. Really good. 94

Right in the Fantastic drinking zone. Bouquet of red and dark berries with a big dollop of plum. Dense, almost black with brick red edges. Subtle acid, smooth tannins, integrated wood, layers of flavor and good length. Would likely cellar much longer but I doubt that it is going to taste any better than it does now. 94+

Opened on the Saturday night and a half bottle put aside for Monday night. Allowed to breath in a smaller decanter on the Saturday night. Was drinking superbly from word go, still in a primary stage, dark red almost purple, luscious fruit, integrated wood, a touch of menthol/eucalypt, excellent length. Even better on the Monday night. Has years left in it. 93+

Still a 94. Two years since the last bottle this is still developing. Now into a secondary stage but still with a youthful swing in her hips. Delicious from the moment the first sip crosses your lips Blackberries, cedar and a touch of spice on the bouquet following through to the palate with a light dash of eucalypt. Luscious body with lingering length. In an optimum point in the drinking window but will easily cellar (with care) for another 5 plus years

This is delicious and will cellar and continue to develop well past 2023. Still dark red with the slightest hint of bricking at the edges. Good fruit with the Shiraz adding body to the cabernet. Layers of flavor, balanced wood, fruit, tannins and acid. Beautiful example of Barossa Cabernet/Shiraz. 93

In an excellent drinking window now. Very dark red, no browning, no sediment, no bricking. Good fruit balanced out with the wood, acid and tannins. It must be good, SWMBO came back for a good second glass from the half bottle on the table. Fortunately the other half is mine for dinner tonight. Went a treat with the Weber Roast Leg of Lamb.

Says 14% on the label but the diners at the lunch table all noted a bit of alcohol heat. However the fruit really stood out. More plum than red berry, excellent body enhanced by the oak (was that a whiff of coconut or did I imagine it?) smooth tannins, nice line of acid and very good length. I might have opened this one a bit early but it is drinking really well. Went down a treat with the rack of lamb and roast vegetables. 92+

I opened a bottle on Saturday and set aside half a bottle for the Sunday night, however we had a family dinner on Sunday night and I opened a fresh bottle (same wine) which was consumed on the night. Tonight I finished the half bottle from Saturday with dinner.
This is a luscious wine. The Coonawarra blend of Cabernet and Shiraz, no idea of the breakup, is an Australian benchmark. Full bodied, really well balanced fruit, acid, wood and smooth tannins. Loads of lush fruit, dark berries, plum and delicious length. Drinking really well now, however I expect this will cellar for another decade. If you have some, I recommend you put a bottle to the taste test, you wont be disappointed.

This is the second bottle (number 6 of 6) that was undrinkable and went down the sink. Unpleasant from the initial opening of the screw cap, didn't smell right, and the flavor when tasted was off as well. No lemon, no lime, no honey, no toasty flavors. Nothing remotely like a slightly aged Semillon. Very disappointing.
