7/28/23, 10:14 PM - FB-Great note. I have the same wedding habit and my wife also disagrees until she unexpectedly has a glass in front of her by dinner time.
6/26/23, 6:24 AM - LIOF-I should be receiving my 1st offer of the 2021 Absurd on 7/2/23. I'm on the fence of purchasing. In your opinion, how does this size up with other Napa cab/bordeaux blends of similar value (ie Scarecrow, Abreu, etc)?Hope all is well and I enjoyed following your recent travels to France
6/26/23, 9:32 AM - It does help and thanks for the response. I like that I can purchase a single bottle if I chose to and I don't have to lock in for a 3-pack. If I pull the trigger, it will probably be on 1-2 bottles. I don't purchase Abreu but I do have an allocation of Scarecrow that I split with someone but these are definitely at the highest price point of my comfort level.
6/27/23, 8:50 AM - LIOF and DQ-I follow both of your reviews and my style isn't far off each other. For relatively the same "absurd" price, would you prefer 1-2 bottles of The Absurd, or an additional 3-pack (or Mag) of Kinsman since my Absurd allocation opens on 7/2 and my Kinsman pre-release order has to be submitted by 7/4. Definitely in on the Kinsman but if I purchase the Absurd, I'll take a lower allocation of the Kinsman.
6/29/23, 5:13 AM - Thanks for the discussion thread and sorry I high jacked this older tasting note comment thread but i follow and enjoy reading everyones reviews on this thread. I really appreciate everyone's comments/opinions. I'm leaning towards purchasing 1 bottle of the Absurd and attempt to build a mini vertical and decide down the road if I enjoy the style enough and if not it looks like Ill have some options on the secondary market. All wine I purchase is with the intent to enjoy with family and friends but I'm not opposed to selling to friends, Wine Beserkers, or rarely the secondary market under the right circumstances. The Absurd may not be that big of a gamble in the long run. Thanks again for everyones comments and opinions!
7/11/23, 5:46 AM - What's your take on this? I received an email last night from GRW wine stating "We are excited to let you know that we just received our Realm Absurd 2021 allocation! We have 82 bottles available at $950 / Botte. There is currently nothing on Wine Searcher available right now. I believe this price is very low considering the 2018 is at $950 Low Wine Searcher and the 2021 vintage is very highly rated for Napa! The 2021 hasn’t yet been rated but it has a very good chance of receiving 100 Points!!..."I haven't pulled the trigger yet but I'm still offered 3 bottles at $675/bottle. This email was surprising to me and for such a highly allocated very low production bottle, how do they already have 82 bottles? At the time of the email, there was only 300+ bottles in CT (I know not everyone enters bottles or is on CT) but this email was surprising to me. My thought is maybe Realm sold them a large allocation, it would take a lot of individual people to accrue 82 bottles. If there's any plus from the email, is the initial secondary release price starts at $950. I've been leaning towards passing and haven't pulled the trigger yet but this email caught me off guard last night.
7/11/23, 11:08 AM - Thanks for everyone's responses and I've decide to pass, which has been an agonizing decision and would have been a guaranteed buy at a lower price point. Everyone here had very valid points that went into my decision. Thanks again for endulging me with understanding the Absurd better to to make a decision. I value everyone's opinions and palates on this thread, which is why I hijacked this specific tasting note. Thanks again!
6/26/23, 6:53 AM - MSU-I should be receiving my 1st offer of the 2021 Absurd on 7/2/23. I'm on the fence of purchasing. In your opinion, how does this size up with other Napa cab/bordeaux blends of similar value (ie Scarecrow, Abreu, etc)? Is it worth the tariff? Thanks for any advise and I enjoy reading your reviews
6/30/23, 7:27 PM - MSWine-thank you for such as well thought out response.I appreciate your reviews and your thoughts on this wine and others. I'm learning towards purchasing 0-1 at this point, as I tend to agree it may not be worth considerable more that the Realm Dr. Crane or Hartwell XX, not to mention a few other wines at this price point. I'm curious to see the price it releases at and if it went up from 2019, how much? That may play a role in me purchasing 1 or 0. Thanks again!
6/26/23, 6:49 AM - Cristal--I should be receiving my 1st offer of the 2021 Absurd on 7/2/23. I'm on the fence of purchasing. In your opinion, how does this size up with other Napa cab/bordeaux blends of similar value (ie Scarecrow, Abreu, etc)? Is it worth the tariff? Thanks for any advise and I truly enjoy following your reviews!
6/27/23, 5:02 AM - Cristal-this was very helpful. After your responses and some guidance from LIOF, i'm strating to lean towards passing on the Absurd and possibly diverting those funds to an extra 3-pack of Kinsman. Now I just have to deal with my own FOMO with Realm if I go down this road.
6/26/23, 6:59 AM - #1 WineLover-I should be receiving my 1st offer of the 2021 Absurd on 7/2/23. I'm on the fence of purchasing. In your opinion, how does this size up with other Napa cab/bordeaux blends of similar value (ie Scarecrow, Abreu, etc)? Is it worth the tariff? Thanks for any advise and I enjoy reading your reviews
6/26/23, 6:51 AM - MS-I should be receiving my 1st offer of the 2021 Absurd on 7/2/23. I'm on the fence of purchasing. In your opinion, how does this size up with other Napa cab/bordeaux blends of similar value (ie Scarecrow, Abreu, etc)? Is it worth the tariff? Thanks for any advise and I enjoy reading your reviews
5/28/23, 9:03 AM - DrinkNick-did you decant and if so how long or how long do you recommend? I'm popping one tonight or tomorrow. Thanks
4/11/23, 11:17 AM - DrBrad-there is no harm in popping 1 now with a 45+ minute decant but your patience should be rewarded if you want to wait another couple of years! Hope you enjoy it as much as I did when you do decide to open one.
4/14/23, 5:32 AM - Roy-thanks for your previous suggestion that the 2016 was in a good spot. It was delicious and the tannins didn't have any hard edges and paired perfectly with the steaks. I essentially did a long DD but with a 45 minute decant on the front end, I'm sure it could have been DD in the morning and decanted for 45+ minutes before serving with the same or very similar result. Shae Kinsman told me that she puts the cork back into the bottle with all of her DDs in an attempt to retain as much of the aromatics as possible. The wine is exposed to less air with returning the cork but I'm not sure how or if its adversely affected with the little bit of air if the wine is returned to the bottle for an extended period of time. The nose of your 2016 was front and center at the time of serving and garnered several complementary comments.. Great job!
3/22/23, 3:50 PM - Mark-thank, I appreciate it.
3/20/23, 5:09 PM - Great lunch but even better company and stories! Thank you for sharing your wine and Cheers!
3/9/23, 6:50 PM - GT-I never did a trip to Napa like this before and everything had to fall perfectly into place to be pulled off. The only hiccup we had was that our return flight was delayed 1 hr, had we known before we arrived at the airport we could have gone for a real dinner. We got lucky with several obstacles avoided that could have completely upended the day.
3/5/23, 8:54 PM - DQ-Thanks for the kind words. VHR was a memorable visit capped off with a show stopping wine! The 2020 was definitely at a disadvantage being paired with this knockout, regardless of the 2020 difficult vintage.
3/8/23, 1:42 PM - MJP-we actually spent the beginning portion of the tour discussing and trading names a few grower champagnes. It was a great way to start our trip! The 2019 is a special wine that is only going to get better with time.
3/9/23, 11:54 AM - DQ-not many tips, we were discussing how I'm fairly new to grower champagne and only bought big house champagne until recent years and that her and Bruce got more into growers during COVID. She mentioned that the Gimonnet she served wasn't her favorite vintage (I forgot what she preferred) and we discussed La Rogerie and Christophe Baron via email.
3/8/23, 1:49 PM - Sdr-I liked the 2020 and have it neck and neck with the 2019 but they display different flavor profiles. I posted my 2020 tasting note and just added these wines to a CT story as well. Both are beautiful wines that require quiet a bit of cellaring before we know what they are truly made of.
2/18/23, 8:40 PM - Thanks Tom. I try to provide enough detail for someone else to be able to either duplicate my experience or learn from a potential pitfall. I also provide enough detail so I can remember my past experience for the next time I pull a cork. Unfortunately, my notes tend to be a bit long-winded before you get to the meat of my review. Thanks for reading.
2/14/23, 7:53 PM - Thanks for assisting/adding to the wine experience on a very memorable trip (minus an ill timed holding penalty)! I look forward to when our paths with cross again!
1/16/23, 6:06 PM - Thanks Mark. Cheers!
1/16/23, 6:05 PM - 2 hours was adequate before our 1st pour. We drank the bottle over several more hours and there was only slight improvement with the extended air. So if you are pouring out all 4-5 glasses on 1st pour then you can decant a little longer than 2 hours but if you are drinking over an extended period of time then I think a 2 hour decant or a several hour double decant and poured into a decanter prior to serving for 1 hour+ should work and show the wine well. Enjoy and cheers!
12/1/22, 11:12 AM - Tom-thanks for your comments and I think the prep is important when reading a review. My impression maybe drastically different than someone elses but 1 could be a PnP vs several alternatives to air plus time of exposure. I wish more included their prep in their notes. I had this bottle again on Thanksgiving with a 8+ hr DD and it gained weight and was singing by the time we got to dinner.
9/29/22, 7:16 PM - GF-Great note. I just scored this Magnum in an Aubert library magnum release. I noticed your note was based on a mag. After opening your mag, what would you estimate as the prime drinking window and what level of preparation would you suggest? Your note mentions its in a good spot with 1 hr decant. If doing it again would you repeat exactly the same way? Thanks for any insight
9/29/22, 8:37 PM - Thanks for the response and good luck in this weeks magnum lottery (if thats what you were referring to).
9/20/22, 7:31 AM - Mark1npt-I agree with you and I was actually thinking that maybe the wine started to shutdown, as it was a bit more muted on the nose and on the palate at the end. I was hopeful to avoid this by pouring it back into the bottle after the initial decant but it was to no avail. I also didn't follow my own rule of thumb with Bevan wines. Historically and throughout several vintages, I find that his wines can be over decanted and decline with too much air. Maybe this is due to his typical softer tannins and producing a wine that is usually more approachable early on in its life but that's just speculation by me.
9/20/22, 8:29 AM - Mark-I put a lot of stock into what JL has to say, so I'll definitely be mindful of the descriptor. I've slowly become a fan of a long Double Decant or to a lesser extent a slow ox after removing approx 2 oz from the bottle. When I recently visited Kinsman Eades, Shae Kinsman double decanted their wines and returns the cork for several hours before serving, and I've started doing this with many of my bottles if I know in the morning what I want to open that evening but this doesn't work in a pinch. I've noticed it preserves that initial freshness. I know it's not Cali Cab but I've been advised by Marcus Goodfellow from Goodfellow Family Cellars in Oregon that some of his pinots that are intended to be long haulers can be tried young but show best with the slow ox described above. A decant can actually adversely affect some of his young wines. So in the past few years I've experimented with all different ways to introduce air to the wine base on varietal, location and vintage. I've had more hits that misses but it's still a work in progress. I've come to learn I'd rather be conservative that over decant because I can always introduce more air but I can't remove it once it starts to go downhill.
9/20/22, 6:46 PM - Mark-I never heard of returning the cork to the bottle after a DD so I asked Shae her reasoning and she said that there is so little air that gets in the bottle after the wine is returned and they learned with Nigel's wines and with others, they tend to lose more of the aromas with the cork removed. Given the bottle is dealing with minimal air flow they rather keep the nose fresh and vibrant. They still recommend the DD for many hours, I believe her recommendation to me on the 2017 Rhad was 7+ hours, but theY believe the air in the neck of the bottle is just as good as when the cork is removed after the DD that it's not worth the minimal gain to them when they feel it loses some of the aromas. AG-I'm sure a 3+ hr slow ox with Bevan wines does a great job, especially since the wines tend to not have the harsher tannins from crushing the grape seeds (at least this was the case with earlier bottlings when they foot stomped the grapes). I'll give it a shot with one of the Bevan's I pop next. I also listened to a podcast the Russell was on and he told the interviewer/audience his wines tend to be best at the 7-12 year marker. I forget the podcast and don't quote me 100% but I remember when he said it and that range stuck in my head. For the most part it holds true with not only his wines but many other great Napa cabs of this caliber but not all, as several great wine makers are now making wines that are intended to be cellared long term. GT & M1-I don't have enough experience with Carter or Myriad, as I'm fairly new to their allocations and I haven't opened many bottles. However, I tasted at Carter this past March and all bottles were PnP. They all showed well but I thought would have been better with at least a short decant, especially the more structured/higher priced wines in their portfolio. Not all bottles came across like they needed to slumber for a decade+, I walked away thinking they are in a similar style to Bevan and can be on the earlier consumption side. Maybe this is why when Carter and Mike Smith the decided to hire Russell. Although Mike and Russell have different styles, I don't think Russell is going to take Carter in a totally new direction. I skipped the 2020 Carters but am looking forward to the 2021s that Russell with Russell as the head wine maker. I'm just not so thrilled about the price increase introduced in the 2020s. I think $225 is the new $195 for his wines, as Adversity sells for $225, 2019 Bevan Harbison peoce rose to $225 and I believe Carter's higher priced 2020s were also $225.AG-I know nothing about Addax (approx $185) but saw your tasting note on a 2019. How do they compare to other Bevan wines? I received an allocation today but am hesitant to pull the trigger on something I know so little about.Cheers everyone and great conversations (sorry I get long winded at times:)
9/7/22, 9:56 AM - WBW-thanks and I was pleasantly surprised at how well the wine presented. It was a last minute decision to pull this bottle and I'm glad I did.
8/31/22, 5:44 AM - Roy, the wine was excellent and exceeded my expectations, especially for your 1st vintage. The only mistake I made was letting my father take 2 of the 3 bottles purchased from Benchmark. Definitely gonna encourage popping the cork on one of his bottles the next time I visit! Great job and good luck with the getting through Labor Day and harvest.
8/15/22, 7:13 PM - Ozzie-WCA is my CT handle I set up to keep track of the birth year wines I bought my sons. I didn't realize I was signed into this acct when I originally responded to your comment. Sorry for any confusion.
7/12/22, 10:15 AM - I agree 100% with you and the timing of a new project with his new wife and the name Adversity sounds to me to be a perfect double entendre but I only reported what I was told at the tasting :)
11/16/21, 10:29 AM - Rob-Based on your recent experience with the Conterno Francia and Arione, for your palate would/do you prefer the 2012 Francia for $250 or the 2016 Arione for $299? I have 2 x 2012 Francia ($220 original purchase price) but I haven't opened one yet. I also am awaiting delivery on a 2017 Francia. I don't have any Arione but am wondering if it's worth the extra $50 for the 2016? I plan on ordering a couple of bottles Conterno barolo and I was wondering if you suggest I target either of these 2 or any other bottle under the $325 range? Thanks
7/6/22, 5:29 AM - I came across a single bottle of 2014 Cerretta last night at $225 and grabbed it based on your prior comments. Thanks for the guidance and for your Barolo reviews!
6/17/22, 2:25 PM - You are welcome! Hopefully, I follow my own advise with my next bottle and I have a better experience. Glad my note may help for your future enjoyment!
6/17/22, 5:50 AM - I ended up with such a long DD because I wasn't going to have time to prepare it in the early morning before I left to go out of town. My options were this very long DD or a PnP at the resturant. I think the long DD paid off! If you have any, hope you enjoy it as much as I did when you decide to pop the cork!
6/17/22, 11:16 AM - Sean7711-Im always interested in wine tasting/sharing gatherings. However, at this time, I'm usually only in Philly for events but doesn't mean we can't try to figure something out for the future. If I'm in town for something like a conference and on my own in the near future and my nights are free, I'll definitely reach out.
6/17/22, 1:00 AM - I've bever written a CT note like this before. I debated with myself if this note was beneficial or note and/or should have been written. Ultimately, it was written with the safety of others in mind. I open hundreds of bottles/year equaling several thousand in my lifetime. I've never had a bottle break in this fashion. I got lucky I only had superficial cuts but it could have been serious. I'm chalking my experience up to a rare occurrence that may never happen again with any bottle but I will definitely be mindful of the occurrence the next time I open a bottle of this Rose. I would hate for this to be a flaw in a bad batch of bottles and not just my experience being a 1 off. I understand that this is a flaw/defect in the glass and not the wine but if it's a bad batch from the glass manufacturer and could potentially happen again to someone, I wanted to get the information out there. If it matters to the integrity of the wine/review on CT, I would be happy to uncheck the flaw box, as I would never want to adversely affect the wine or the winery.
4/23/22, 5:30 PM - GT- the bottle was very enjoyable and paired great with the Jorge. Thanks for you prior reviews and comments. They all helped in the prep for this bottle. I look forward to the next bottle we follow each other on!
4/6/22, 5:25 PM - Great review and thanks for the check-in before Easter :) I saw your post on WB and your CT in the signature so I knew tonight was the night you opened it! Glad it lived up to your initial post hype. It rarefied air to hit 100 points and glad this bottle brought you that joy twice! Can't wait to try it from magnum, which will also be paired with some form of Flannery!
4/6/22, 5:59 PM - Do you think it's too early for a mag or do you think it's in good window? Also, do you suggest a straight 60 min decant or a several hour DD? Thanks and great note.
4/4/22, 6:39 PM - GT-I have a mag of this wine and am thinking about popping the cork over Easter dinner with family. I was holding onto it for a while but it looks like the 750s had better tasting notes a couple of years ago than it has recently by people I follow as a fan. Do you think this bottle will improve anymore or is it time to open the magnum with a good decant and hope it shows like yours did in 2019? I'm not sure if you've tried since or if the 2 notes you entered were your only 2 bottles.
4/4/22, 7:08 PM - Thanks for your response. I never DDed a mag but I was thinking about it before your response. Maybe that's the way to go with this bottle. I've noticed on some other Bevan's that they can get too much air and lose some of the nuances but I've never had this 2012 EE and the mag is my only bottle so I can't gage it with a 750 first. I'm gonna follow your advise of the DD whenever I decide to open it. Thanks and I'll be looking forward to your review of your final bottle!
3/26/22, 9:45 PM - WBW-thanks and it was defiantly a trip to remember. By the way, I'm big fan of how your write your tasting notes. Preparation of the wine and temps are important to me and you lay out your notes nicely.
3/23/22, 10:31 AM - Thanks. I try to add my prep so someone can either duplicate or compare/contrast to what others experience.
3/22/22, 5:03 AM - I recently received my 2018 Bella Oaks shipment but haven't opened one yet. What was your impression of them side by side? My experience for the 2019 Kinsman La Vol appears much different that the CT reviews for the 2018. I found the 2019 to be elegant and a bit feminine for both the Bella Oaks and La Vol but the reviews on the 2018 La Vol appear to be quiet the opposite. May be that 2019s are a little lighter, medium to full bodied with what I thought was some red fruit with darker fruits or my palate was just off after 1.5 days of tastings. I also read the 2019 Bella Oaks has some Cab Franc, so may be that accounted foe some of rhe difference, in addition to the vintage variation and/or being so recently bottled.
3/20/22, 7:37 AM - MJP-great notes on the 2018 La vol and 2018 Bella Oaks. Based on this note, I think the 2019s may be more open early on but they may shutdown at some point in the future. Your recommended cellar times and your personal preference for Cali cabs are a helpful gage for the future of these bottles.
3/20/22, 6:52 AM - MJP-thanks. I haven't had the courage or the right occasion to open any of my Kinsmans I wanted to make sure they were my type of wine and worth the investment. I also wanted to understand the difference between their 3 wines. After my tasting experience, they have gone right to the top of my can't cut list for allocations.
3/20/22, 6:45 AM - MJP-all of the 19s poured were approachable, even Sleeping Lady if you don't mind tannins. I'm not sure if they will eventually shutdown or if it's truer to the 2019 vintage in general vs the 2018s. I also don't know how long they were double decanted for, im sure she told me and i forgot. Shae recommended that if I open any prior vintages, I should open the 2017 Rhad. Her preparation would be to double decant and put the cork back in the bottle and then let it rest at cellar temp for many hours. The return of the cork is to retain all of the aromatics, I haven't heard of this until my discussion with Shae. If you have an opportunity to meet her and taste the lineup, it's well worth the stop!
3/17/22, 6:00 PM - Rbhan-what a great experience. I'm glad you got to meet him in this intimate setting too. What vintage did he share?
3/16/22, 7:03 AM - Decanting Queen-looking forward to reading your notes from your trip if you get around to posting them. TRB and Antonio Galloni both have made comments that this vineyard will only improve after the replanting. Galloni references that there were trees that shaded part of the vineyard that were burned down and the removal of these trees will be beneficial. Hopefully, RM will have a contract for the grapes qhen the vineyard is back online and we can see what TRB can do with the replanting in years to come.
3/17/22, 5:57 AM - Daniel-I don't own a 2016 HL and I've never tried it but the Cellar Tracker reviews, Jeb Dunnuck review and Antonio Galloni review are all very promising. The 2019 HL is very tightly allocated. I was offered 3 on initial release and was offered 1 during my visit. If they offered me more, I would have definitely bought more. I'm not sure what you can buy the 2016 for but on release and in the tasting room the 2019 was/is $150. I don't think you can go wrong with either vintage!
2/28/22, 7:40 AM - GT thanks for your comment. I had this bottle earmarked for quiet a while since there are so many reviews that it was drinking well and Im glad it did. Pumpkin would definitely be upset and let me know I opened it on the wrong day :)
2/28/22, 9:39 AM - JEP007 definitely a special bottle and glad you enjoyed it as much as I did! It's gonna be hard to beat for WOTY but it will be fun searching for it!
3/1/22, 8:00 PM - JAZZ4U Thanks for the heads up. I'll have to checkout the Lerner project.
2/7/22, 5:01 AM - Thanks. It has the potential to be a great wine. It drinks nicely now but with a few more years there should be better balance and a little more integration. Drink now with a long decant for a delicious wine or hold for a few more years for a great wine!
2/4/22, 12:07 PM - So strange. I've never experienced anything toke this before. I was a bit surprised by Bedrock's response, as I would assume most people would dump this bottle without even trying it given the appearance. Hopefully this was a 1 off barrel that got bottled.
12/26/21, 9:19 AM - MJP, glad my note was able to sway you to pull a 2012 sooner rather than later. Last night's bottle was beautiful, hopefully your next one will be as well. I live in PA and our DtC laws didn't change until approx 2016 so I was late to the VHR allocation party. However, I've had luck purchasing through the secondary market and I joined VHRs mailing list right when they offered a library release and I was able to grab a 3 pack and mag of 2016.Thanks for the heads up on the 2014. Went to W-S this morning and found a really well priced mag that I secured as a post Christmas present to me! I would have preferred 750s but there weren't any good prices on W-S. Happy holidays and Happy New Year!
12/26/21, 11:40 AM - MJP sorry if your response was to my 100 pt score that showed briefly in CT. For some reason when I put 97 it defaulted to 100 and I initially missed it. Not sure if it's a phone issue (auto correct) or an app issue I caught it the 2nd time when I edited my original post.
12/26/21, 12:37 PM - Wine Searcher
1/13/22, 8:44 PM - MJP, somehow I missed this comment. I appreciate the advise. Maybe I will reach out and see if he has any library 3 packs available. Theres a chance I'm in Napa in March and VHR is on my shortlist of visits.. Hope you had and continue to have a good and safe New Year!
1/5/22, 11:36 AM - Great review and very informative. Are you a buyer of any 2020 reds and if so do you have a shortlist? I read several of your reviews on the 2017s and bought some wines solely on your review (ie Tynan MG). I live in PA and won't be able to taste many wines in advance or allocation releases. Many of the cabernets I purchase aren't bottling a 2020 so those decisions are made easy. Myriad is the 1st one I have to make an early decision on and your review was very timely. Thanks for putting so much thought and time into your reviews!
1/5/22, 2:09 PM - Csimm, I really appreciate your response. I am of a very similar opinion on buying certain vintages and I hit 2018 and 2019 hard so I was actually hopeful to cut back significantly on 2020 Napa Cabs. Thank you for all of your entertaining and very informative reviews. I've enjoyed following many of them over the past 3+ years and they have assisted me in some of the purchases I've made over that time period as well!
11/23/21, 9:08 PM - I plan on opening this bottle for Thamksgiving. How did you decant this wine? On my sparklers, I typically pop the cork and let it settle for a hour+ but I've hear of people decanting vintage champagne, I've just never done it before. Also, what temp did you serve it at?
11/24/21, 4:24 AM - Thanks, I really appreciate your comments and your review. It will help in my preparation this week!
11/22/21, 4:37 AM - Gymnastpro, I liked your review from a year ago and the wine appeared more open at the time of your note. I could tell it's a very well made Bordeaux blend but it was a little coiled up and not showing much. I'm thinking maybe it shutdown a little over the past year. However, this was a 1 off bottle for me so I don't have a good reference point other than CT reviews from this vintage and previous years, which are all great!
10/27/21, 8:36 PM - Eric, if I want to drink a 2012 Francia in the near future, do you have a suggestion on preparation/decanting time or do you strongly suggest holding longer? I have 2 bottles and may decide to purchase more but I want to get an idea of the wine before I make a decision. Thanks
11/10/21, 11:58 AM - Eric, thank you for the advise and if I decide to open on the earlier side I will definitely use your guidance! Than you for your review and comments.
9/26/21, 6:40 AM - Thanks for the comment and glad my decant time and serving temp may be of assistance in helping the wine show its best for someone else.
9/15/21, 6:39 PM - GT, great note. I really appreciate the early preview you, CSIMM and Cristal posted..I've been buying Kinsman since its inagural release, maxing out my allocation including large formats. In your opinion, is Bella Oaks a 3 pack buy and see where it goes in the upcoming years or is it something I should consider purchasing everything offered like I do with Kinsman? The price is a bit higher and based on the early reviews it sounds like most lean towards the Kinsman profile a little bit more than Bella Oaks. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
9/15/21, 6:45 PM - It's does, thanks I appreciate it!
6/30/21, 8:13 AM - I will not be buying more of the 2012. It was enjoyable but a little to green apple for me and not my style but it's still a good champagne. At $125/$135 it's a good buy but if I'm paying the suggested retail price of $175, I'd rather wait and buy 2012 Dom Perignon and/or 2012 Taittinger CdC (when released).
Thanks for letting us know about this problem. We will review your comments and be in touch soon with an update.
