Coravin'd a few glasses that got about an hour of air and then opened the rest, DD'd for about 20 min and drank over an hour. The DD was needed b/c there was tons of sediment Very good but a small hint of something off. Fruit still there and needed the air. Good QPR (at auction). Brad - heavypourwine.com

Drank at Toque in Montreal at a dinner with co-workers. Paired with both quail and duck dishes. Decanted for about an hour. Although a bit light on the palate, really good showing and great pairings with both dishes! I'm glad I neglected to view the CT notes and CT score for this wine before picking this from the restaurant's wine list. Amazing QPR IMO and was happy to find and buy some of this at the nearby SAQ bring back home (don't see any listings for the US). Brad - heavypourwine.com

Blackberry Farm Cheese and Wine tasting (The lovely East Tennessee mountains): Wine and cheese tasting in the cellar @ Blackberry Farm. Poured into glass 90 minutes before I tasted it. Was good but expected this to be WOTN based on producer, vintage and my love of Barolos and it just got it's butt whipped by the CDP before it. Maybe it didn't get enough air? Regardless, this was a decent pairing with Italian sheep's milk cheese. Brad - heavypourwine.com

Five Course Wine Pairing at Blackberry Farm - The Barn (The lovely East Tennessee mountains): Wine pairing at Blackberry Farm - The Barn. This wine was just Meh. Just so much alcohol on the nose and palate. I guess I don't like these types of wines so take my review with that in mind. This was paired with chocolate brownie and it made the wine and the food worse. Disappointing end to what was otherwise a very nice wine pairing experience. Brad - heavypourwine.com

Five Course Wine Pairing at Blackberry Farm - The Barn (The lovely East Tennessee mountains): Wine pairing at Blackberry Farm - The Barn. Nose is caramelized banana with vanilla. Primary red fruit on the palate. Great pairing with wagyu hanger steak. Can really taste the alcohol. WOTN for me. It's interesting that I had recently tasted a CA Central Coast neb a few weeks ago which I did not like but I did like this neb. Prior to these two recent tastings, I was not aware anyone in the US was doing a neb. I'm going to seek out some more US neb producers for fun! Brad - heavypourwine.com

Arrow & Branch winemaker dinner at Murphy's (Atlanta, GA): A&B winemaker dinner @ Murphy's in Atlanta. From 750. PNP. Paired with grilled wagyu shortrib and served alongside the '17 A&B Dr. Crane. Red fruit. Great pairing and really good wine although it was my least favorite of the reds (tough competition with some of the library stuff that they served!) It was interesting that almost everyone else at the dinner though this wine was the WOTN and my WOTN was the '17 Dr. Crane. I also noticed I scored the VHR a few points lower this time than when I originally tasted it at the estate last year. Perhaps my lower score was because of the lack of air? Brad - heavypourwine.com

Arrow & Branch winemaker dinner at Murphy's (Atlanta, GA): A&B winemaker dinner @ Murphy's in Atlanta. From Magnum. PNP. Paired with grilled wagyu shortrib and served alongside the '19 A&B VHR. Blue fruit. EXCELLENT pairing and WOTN for me. I picked up several for the cellar. It was interesting that almost everyone else at the dinner felt that the VHR was the WOTN and some indicated they detected smoke taint in the Dr. Crane. I didn't detect even a hint of smoke taint and thought this wine was fantastic! Brad - heavypourwine.com

Bottle opened for 3 hours prior to tasting and tasted with cheese, bread and charcuterie. WOTN for me. Color is dark brownish red with orangish rim. Outstanding nose, barely any tannin. This is now being made in a more traditional way that vintages prior to 2015 I believe. Brad - heavypourwine.com
