Surprised this was falling off so quickly. A quality 9 year old WA should be better at this point. Opened mid day to pull a cup out for homemade sauce for some homemade lasagna. Let it slow ox with the cork out until dinner, about 3 hours.
Poured from the bottle into a glass at that point. First glass seemed "tight" and still needed to open some. As it sat in the glass started to "open" up. Fruit started to open up and could start to get some nuances out of it. By the end of the second glass it was "ok" but not what a Saggi normally would be.
Put a cork in the bottle until the next night. Second night all fruit was gone. Mostly alcohol and indistinguishable as to what varietal it was.

Hadn't opened one of these in a while and was looking through the cellar for a mid-week bottle of something and grabbed this. Great little winery in Walla Walla and have always enjoyed their stuff.
I remembered this was pretty good for it price point and looked back at my notes and put an 89 on it twice before on 12/19 and 4/22.
Wow has this thing changed in the last 16 months.
Has a little of The Rocks funk on the nose, it’s not as pungent as some, but enough to dominate the smell. Common characteristics of the better wines from this area.
On the pallet though there is no funk to be found. Lots of ripe Blackberry, Blueberry and Boysenberry, but not jammy. Slight peppery finish. Nicely integrated tannins. Great spot to be drinking right now.

First bottle of Château Pontet-Canet for me. Bought this one quite a while back and have had it in my cellar. Took to dinner at a classic higher end steak restaurant along with a bottle of 2014 Peter Michael Les Pavots. Decanted for about an hour before drinking, then a couple glasses over the next couple hours.
First impression was "wow". This is right up my alley and drinking in a great place right now. Classic Bourdoux blend, plenty of red fruit but not jammy. Tannins were integrated well. No heavy alcohol bite like many from the US. Will be adding more to my cellar.

One of my favorite Washington Cabs. Still a little life in it, but should drink up if you have any left. Still some red fruit but the finish is starting to get thin.
Quite a bit better than the ‘04 I recently opened

A little better after opening up, first taste has some Malbec spiciness but the finish has new school sweetness. Better Malbecs for less money.

Very thin and one dimensional. No depth or character whatsoever. Fruit forward and sweet. Pretty much a generic, inexpensive red table wine

Had high hopes for this one as I have had some great older Feathers of late, ‘05 & ‘07. But alas this 2004 is past it’s prime and on its way downhill. Both aroma and taste are highly subdued from ones I have had in the past.

I have now had three of these bottles for the same year, with the same friends and we have all had the same conclusions.
This vintage seems to be very inconsistent.
It has ranged from almost undrinkable to pretty darn good.
This one is in the pretty darn good range. Multiple good aged WA wines drank tonight and this was Wine Of The Night.

Not sure what is going on here. I am normally a big Sheridan fan, but this is really sub par for them. Super sweet with a really odd taste I would normally find in inexpensive wines. Can’t be 100% sure, but suspect in this lower label/wine the use of Mega Purple. It’s not supposed to be noticeable but I quickly pick up this odd flavor and smell in inexpensive really dark wines. Disappointing for a winery as good as Sheridan normally is.

Very ripe and jammy, lots of heavy blackberry and cassis. Not my style

I normally enjoy Figgins but this is the newest vintage I have had. It had the odd flavor of what I normally taste in an inexpensive wine that I believe they do to age them quicker. Never would have thought a Figgins to have this. Drank this with two others and all of us had the same opinion.

Very odd. Feels much like an oaky Chardonnay that someone carbonated. Not really very good

If you like wine Kool-aid, you’ll love this!
For a $13 wine with non-wine people you will have brought the WOTN. Zero character and very sweet.

Purchased at dinner. Nice, but clearly not yet really ready to drink. Probably be much better in 5 years

Unbelievably good. Very, very smooth with plenty of nuance still left.

Interesting. First taste has some wine taste to it, then it has no flavor. Very watery. Might be OK for cooking with

Open bottle and drank via an airiator, no decanting. Very jammy on the nose, yet not on the palate. Pleasantly surprised.
