Was very surprised how youthful it tasted in comparison to it's age.
Wonderful color, soft, soft tannins, wish I had another one to drink but last of the case purchased many moons ago. The bottle needed filtering, lots of good sediment...just filter and serve...very nice smooth, super...impressed.

Very surprised how this wine tasted, smooth tannins, great for dinner or relaxing with friends, open 20 minutes before serving which is worth the wait.
This wine can be kept probably for another 4 years but very worthy to drink and enjoy today.

This wine has a wonderful slightly dark golden color, buttery taste, soft tannins, we loved it. Getting near its end would suggest to drink now. I have 2 bottles left from the original case and will consume shortly.

Fantastic Malbec, still has cellaring time(one year or more) providing wine has been kept at a constant temperature in the cellar. Beautiful color, wonderful aroma, very smooth.

Lovely, middle of the road-color, has a hint of spice, not bold or rough just very pleasing on the taste before and after. Drinking very nicely at the moment.

Decanted for 2 hours before serving, was very impressed, Bordeaux style, soft tannins, dark red, nice nose, fabulous taste...wine had been kept in a constant 56F environment since purchase. Was not sure whether the Oculus would be as good as it was...food match, beef tenderloin with a red wine pomegranate sauce, cubed roasted squash, roasted potatoes, poached pear-stilton salad.

Opened, tasted, then decanted for an hour, beautiful tasting wine, dark deep red in color, tannins still very present yet refined, lovely nose, hint of oak, can be cellared for quite some time.

lovely value wine, easy food match with either spice or to simple roasts, stews and yet a very simple enjoyable daily wine by itself.

Nice nose, preferred it very cool...too sweet for my tastes, enjoyed past vintages that were more in line with French style rose...not like pop..

Agree with the previous tasting note..a day later the wine opened up, much softer on the palate. Would assume after a year or 2 in the cellar will have the same affect.

If you like cab-franc you will like this wine. Requires time to bring everything together... over a few years...enjoyed the wine with spicy food...good pairing...decanted for 2 hours to help open up. I tasted the wine the next day and which was a plus, as the wine had opened. The desert is definitely a factor. Would hope the wine opens up to its full potential in a couple of years and would increase the score. Wait and see...

Tasted this wine about a year ago...has improved nicely and I believe a year from now should show more improvement. Considering the cost per bottle, I would have to say this is an excellent choice...decant for an hour.

Last bottle, worth the wait, good colour, lovely nose, decanted for 2 hours before serving to friends while having dinner at OBistro.
Will have to research to find a similar vintage to buy another case for the next 10 or so years.

My Birthday, a special occassion for a few family members and great friends, actually 5 of us enjoyed this fantastic vintage while having dinner. Without all the fanfare, i.e.description, the wine was earth lifting.
More than we expected. The wine had been kept in the cellar at a constant 56F for the last 12 years. One of the most interesting developments of the tasting was on the noise. It is hard to believe that I did not wish to taste the wine for a long time since the aroma was so pleasant on the senses. Cannot see how this wine would develope more from this stage but since we have another 11 bottles left we will update you each year going forward. Recommendation, time wise, open one up and share it with some great friends...absolutely heavenly.
Please Note: Wine was decanted for 8 hours......

We served one bottle at Christmas dinner, the result, a very young wine after 5 years, the color is very light needs more time to mature to its full tasting potential.
Still believe 2 or more years in the cellar.

Tasted last year, hard a nice earthy smell, seemed thick in appearnace for a Pinot, yet not when tasted; tasted today and have to agree the wine has a fizzy taste to it, very strange, a new product called Fiz Pinot.

Light for a shiraz, needs a couple of years in the cellar, it needs to be decanted for 6-8 hours if drinking today.

This rose has an excellent spicy note which is very pleasing to the palate. Several of our friends where quite surprised that a Rose could be so refreshing to sip outdoors. We also tried the rose with Turkey and it went very well with this food match.

We had friends over for a Spanish dinner the other night and we selected Solanes 2000 as one of our wine selections for the evening.
Solanes became the wine of choice suggested by our dinner guests. This wine is drinking very wel l and compliments the spices in the tapas, tapanades, etc. served. I would definetly rate this a 90 pointer. So it was a successful choice.

I meant to post this a while ago, infact last August 2005, anyways, decanted for an hour, and it is drinking very nicely to the point my wife and I almost opened up another one. We had a bottle back in 2004 which was not up to our expectations. But what a difference a year has made in the cellar. I would rate our tasting an enjoyable 90 points.
