Deep Ruby
Nose: ripe red fruit, raspberry preserves, forest floor, cigar box
Palate: explosive red fruit, berries, suave and well balanced, nice mature wood notes, allspice, medium+ body, medium+ acidity, sweet fine-grained tannins. Gorgeous wine. Reminds me of mature Pauillac, oddly.

Very tight on PnP. Improved dramatically with two hours in the decanter. Still very young and primary, but concentration of black fruit and wood smoke. No rush on these.

Lots of dark fruit, herbs, and black licorice/anise flavor. Good concentration. Was a bit tight and backwards on opening... singing after 3-4 hrs or so in the decanter. It has lots of life ahead.

Deep garnet with orange hues at the rim. Fig jam, toasted nuts, dark chocolate candied orange peel, rhubarb, vanilla, baking spice, long and undulating finish. Full body. Incredible, with years ahead.

This bottle was humming. In a great spot. 1 hour decant, and had it with Ribeyes. Almost obsidian at its core, and deep blood red at the rim. Black and red fruit dominating on the explosive nose. Full body, with incredible concentration. Deep cassis, fine tannins fully integrated. Excellent.

Incredible depth and intensity here... showing its terroir. Raspberry cordial, ripe strawberry, vanilla, anise, forest floor, soft velvety mouthfeel, medium-to-full body. Excellent.

Incredibly accessible for young L'Aventure. Deep opaque purple in color, with intense dark fruit notes, blueberry compote, and a touch of smoke. The full-bodied palate is also very soft, blue and black fruits, with good intensity of flavor but not incredibly complex. Slight heat on the finish.

Cork in excellent condition on this 89 suduiraut. Nose is a bit closed down at the moment, but I get candied orange peels, baking spices and clove. The palate is very unctuous, full bodied and velvety. Crime brûlée, caramel, dark honey, vanilla, nuttiness, not much primary fruit here, but there’s a lovely hint of poached pears. Drink up.

Very floral offering, with herbaceous notes on the nose — Thai basil and wildflower. Medium bodied with bright acidity, and plush berry notes. A solid Pinot with a slightly more “old-world” style than I’m used to from this producer, but not the best offering from WS... granted this was the first Pinot to release from the Calegari vineyard. Nonetheless and enjoyable drink.

This is an incredible value, and it’s actually drinking well now, but it needs air. We opened it had a glass, and then decanted the rest over the next 24 hours. At first approach it was clearly muscular and tense. Loads of deep, dark fruit, unctuous, with a lush mouthfeel. Fairly primary but tight. On night two the edges had rounded nicely, and beneath the fruit there was scorched earth, and other savory notes — thyme, burnt fat, and a peppery bite. Really fantastic stuff. Could use a few years in the cellar and definitely needs some air upon opening.

Explosive nose of dark fruit, berries, cassis. The aromas hit from several feet away as the wine was poured by the somm. This is a BIG wine. The color is a dark, inky purple, full bodied, with tons of deep, dark fruit, smoky bacon fat notes, scorched earth. Fabulous. It crushed with the APL short rib at Majordomo.

A fuller-bodied Pinot with lovely bright raspberry and cherry notes with lots of bright acidity. Some forest floor on the nose, but a very fruit-forward Pinot. If you like bigger wines, this Pinot is for you.

Fresh bursts of dark fruit, fresh and clean. Raspberry, bramble. Very primary, but a great drinker at $13.
