2/13/24, 3:57 PM - This wine has no smoke taint. Not sure what you were tasting but there is no flaw in this wine. And I am glad John made it.
5/7/23, 10:52 AM - Mostly clear and dark red in colour. WTF!!
5/7/23, 10:51 AM - "Mostly clear and garnett red in colour". Hahahahahah. Brilliant!!
3/5/23, 2:42 PM - 729 Tasting notes and at least 95% of them rate this 90 or more. I's say you had a bad bottle. My curiosity got me to open my last one tonight and I will post a note.
12/28/22, 2:56 PM - You will be sorry if you keep it for 10 more years.
12/16/22, 6:58 PM - 92 points? And you hated it? Wow!
11/10/22, 12:00 PM - I tried the regular bottling last night and found it less disagreeable than the Wight. Still a total mess of a wine. Thanks for your comment.
12/3/21, 3:48 PM - If I wanted a "robust" wine I would not have chosen a wine made in the Northern Rhone Style, which Pax is famous for.
3/11/21, 2:49 PM - Wow! Really?
1/24/21, 4:14 PM - I love this wine. I find it quite complex. I need to try one because it's been a while. I only have one left so will try it soon.
11/2/20, 2:18 AM - Wasn't corked
8/24/20, 3:10 PM - It's not rose
5/17/20, 6:14 PM - So you hate this wine but you rate it 92 points. Hahahaha.
5/17/20, 6:42 PM - Prolly should stick with the $35 bottles.
1/29/20, 4:36 PM - Really nutty review. If it wasn't flawed. If it was a flawed wine just say so. OTW your review is irrelevant. Nothing helpful at all.
6/5/19, 4:40 PM - This is not Burgundy.
4/2/19, 4:09 PM - Sounds like you had a corked wine. We just had one and it was fantastic with none of the notes you indicated.
12/10/18, 6:34 AM - Tried blindly!I can not write a fair score on this wine as it is as far away as you can come from the wines that I like.It is overexhausted, hot, alcoholic, sweet and absolutely nothing for me.
9/24/18, 9:10 AM - The Syrah from the Rocks District is so very different than those from California. They are in the style of Northern Rhone with more mineral, blood, raw meat, black olive. The first time I tried Reynvaan I did not like it. But I found these intriguing and interesting the more I tasted them. They are very polarizing though.
10/13/17, 2:29 PM - It's one of my favorites. I have a vertical going back several years.
6/5/17, 4:48 PM - Ric, This is only 13.2%. I would not consider that to be high.
12/9/16, 7:26 AM - Thanks for the excellent notes Ric. Can't wait to open one. Tonight maybe.
4/19/16, 5:24 PM - Frank, I'm not sure. It just wasn't hitting on all cylinders tonight. Been traveling all day & maybe I'm just tired. Not what I was expecting from this. Seemed disjointed & not exciting. I love Copain but maybe an off bottle.
8/17/15, 3:08 PM - You are clearly in the minority on this one. I love this wine and I would easily rate it 95. Curious, if you just don't don't like it why you would even rate it? Not your style I get. But to knock it with this score? Whatever.
6/16/15, 3:23 PM - I would have added that I thought it was flawed to explain my score.
3/26/15, 10:14 AM - I wrote Andrea at the winery late last month and she responded right away. She said the 2004 Estate Chardonnay had experienced a lot of bottle variation and oxidation in some bottles. I would be glad to forward the entire conversation if you want to provide your e-mail address. FWIW, I am taking one to a tasting tonight and the first one I opened was oxidized. The second one was fine.
3/26/15, 10:28 AM - 10 yrs out is not what I would consider an early drinker. Those SC wines will age well in general but IMO a decade or more for the chard is about the limit. I do have a vertical with a few bottles going back to 2001.
6/27/14, 9:29 AM - Well don't get to wound up in it. It is better than Apothic Red. Just reminded me of it. A score is a score is a score. Everyone has their opinion. This is mine.
3/30/14, 3:03 PM - Having one tonight with a ribeye. One left.
