Thinning out. Flavor intensity doesn’t match the acidity.

Soo umami and savory. Mushroom, thyme, white pepper, sage and a hint of olive on the nose accompanied by black cherry, blueberry and cassis. Silky medium bodied plus. Medium plus tannin. A touch saline There’s a lot going on here!!! Reminds me of my first Tempier 25 years ago (a ‘93, if I remember correctly). Some might interpret this wine as slightly Bretty or barnyardy. Personally, I appreciate a little earthiness along these lines. Surprisingly approachable.

Very approachable Gevrey. Dark ruby. Explosive nose of kirsch, rose, fresh rosemary, thyme, hints of blackberry. Very forward yet very well done. Medium body, slightly elevated alcohol. The times they are a changing’. Some subtle tannic grip. Good length. Great flavor intensity and expressiveness. Drink 2024-2032.

Solid offering. This smells like someone opened a Hostess Apple Pie TM next to a bottle of Muscadet while sitting in the middle of a flint production facility that used to process lemon drops. Definitely high acid. med alc. great intensity and length. Medium/medium- body. Well done.

Picking up weight and fleshing out. Young but approachable. Aromas and flavors mirror my previous note with the addition of something smoky. Still quite primary. Give this a couple more years.

medium lemon. Very aromatic, with nose of licorice/fennel/ginger, Meyer lemon, Asian pear, sea salt, dried white flowers. Acids are bright and vibrant, but there is some viscosity here which gives the wine an Alsatian feel. Great length and mouthfeel.

Revisiting the case, this has picked up considerable depth while retaining a vibrant sense of minerality while retaining its textural leesy qualities.

light straw. Light Petrol, lychee, white pepper, nutmeg, apple, white florals, honey and Meyer lemon. There’s a lot going on here. Hint of RS. Very slight. Giving a round mouthfeel. Medium bodied but light on its feet. Medium acidity. Medium length. Excellent score merited for complexity and QPR at $18.

He's your favorite drunken french uncle. He's rough around the edges, a little bombastic, has a predilection for American action movies like Die Hard, "Connais-tu ce John MacLane, mon p'tit?! Lui là, c'est un vrai dur!" But, he's also decidedly french and plays pétanque on weekends.
Dark, almost opaque ruby with loads of mesquite, grilled nutmeg, black cherry, red plum and raspberry. There's definitely some tannin here and medium plus acidity. Everything comes across a little clunky, but thoroughly enjoyable with admirable savory qualities. And it's village level Cotes-de-Beaune at $27! It's a cellar defender to drink now or over the next 5-7 years. Or a Burg that your Cali friends will enjoy too! Yippe-kai-ay!

High-toned, intense floral and red fruit aromatics of roses, cinnamon, sage, hummus, rosemary, eucalyptus, red currant, pomegranate and cherry. There is definitely some structural reticence indicative of good aging potential. But, there is also so much classic Burgundian finesse. Medium-bodied with medium plus acidity. Good length and intensity here. Approachable now, better in 5 years.

Dried blueberry and black cherry, leather, tar, eucalyptus, rose, anise and smoked herbs. Medium bodied with elevated acidity and some decent grippy tannin. Elegant and complex. Still opening up at the 9hr mark. Beckons for a rich creamy mushroom dish. Drink over the next 5-10

Smoked rose petals, graham cracker, cinnamon, plum and dried cherry. Medium-full body for a PN. Not loads of acidity here, just enough to adequately complement the elevated alcohol and moderate tannin structure. Pretty impressive. Approachable now. I would prefer to see this in 5-7 years though.

Absolutely delightful. Baked Granny Smith apple, meyer lemon, marzipan, brioche, spring flowers. Medium dry. Medium body. Medium plus acidity makes this vibrant all across the palate. It expands from the mid-palate outward. This drinks like someone blended Alsatian Riesling with Muscadet. Some serious lees stirring here. Lots of leesy length too.

Lifted dried cherry nose, something citrus remindful of grapefruit with nutmeg, rose and white pepper. This is densely structured yet pretty approachable . Fairly heavy handed yet somewhat elegant. Medium plus acid. Medium length. Medium bodied plus. Lots of mid-palate volume. Not exactly classically styled Gevrey, but likeable nonetheless .

Dark, dense. Very modern in style. Black tea, incense, allspice, jammy black cherry, black currant and overt oak. Medium acidity, medium dry and medium plus body. Maybe this needs time to integrate, but right now this could woo many a Belle Glos drinker to Burgundy. Something Nothern Rhône about this. Drink over next 7 -10.

This wine smells like Christmas. Gingerbread, nutmeg, cherry and red currant. Noticeable oak influence here. Medium body, medium acidity. Ripe, round. Finishes a touch short. This would have great appeal for a domestic drinker.

3rd bottle with consistent notes. For fans of Tawny Port and Tootsie Rolls. If you have perfect cellar conditions and your bottles never saw any heat on the boat (which I suspect mine did) this may still be ok. Judging by the notes of others, the enveloppe was pushed here and this fell apart.

Uber silky, layered, round and rich. Raspberry, rose on the nose. Pungent, and fruit-driven at this stage, more so than the Boucherottes. Elevated tannin yet supple and long. Lots of stuffing here. Semi-approachable now, but built for the long haul.

Very expressive nose of incense, ripe currant, raspberry and rose petal. Medium-bodied. Layered, complex and resonant finish. Just behind the Ursules in density, but I prefer the aromatics here which are a little more savory. I'll definitely be picking up a couple of these.

Medium ruby color. Loads of bright cherry, rose, and rhubarb on the nose. Linear, but intense. Medium-bodied and expansive on the palate. Fine grained tannic structure. This has lots of upside. 2-3 he decant. This should be really singing in 3-5 years. A little weight, a little elegance.

A baaaaaabyyyyyyy. This NEEDS TIME! Honey, fennel, star fruit, clove, ginger, white florals, Meyer lemon, lanolin, lime blossom, quince. Sooooo much potential here, but this is definitely too young to fully appreciate now. Medium bodied but amazing intensity. Finishes medium. This really needs to flesh out. No hint of botrytized fruit in this Joly cuvée. Needs 5 years to be approachable. 10-20 to mature.

Explosive and haunting aromas of black pepper, fresh thyme, cured meat, mesquite, rose, lavender, kalamata olive, framboise and blueberry liqueur. Medium bodied plus with velvety tannins. Mouth filling and expansive. This is an amazing wine. I may be biased because these aromatics and flavors are 100% in my wheelhouse!

Medium ruby. Medium bodied minus. Very reductive upon opening. Aromas of dried cherry, pomegranate, cured meat, black pepper, rosemary, rose and nutmeg. Acidity is medium plus. Tannins medium minus. This needs food and/or time to really shine, shed that reductive character and flesh out a little.

Opaque Ruby with violet. Jammy blueberry and raspberry on the nose with classic notes of iron, cured meat, olive, black pepper and something floral that I can’t isolate. Very new world yet savory. Impressive. Not as rustic as I would have liked. Tannins are dense yet silky. Really well done, if not totally my style. Approachable now but we’ll definitely evolve nicely over the next 10 years. Lots of stuffing here.

In the "Les Reisses" 1er Cru formerly "Vers Pouilly". Light butterscotch, white florals and orchard fruit. Rich and round but without the vibrant expansiveness of the Menetrieres, especially on the midpalate which comes across fatter and softer. This may just need more time to come around. There's still some good acidity here and hints of chalky-limestone minerality.

Light lemon color. Almond, reglisse, citrus, white flowers, chalky minerals, ripe pear and yellow apple. Wow! Ultra-rich, yet very delicate. The texture is amazing -- dense, layered, expansive that reverberates with almost grainy acid-driven extract on the lengthy finish. Medium, full bodied. IMO the best in their line-up due to it's vibrancy. Best P-F I've ever had.
