12/24/22, 8:51 PM - Sussinct and correct, could not agree more.
9/20/20, 2:22 PM - Context here. I had this after a 2016 Cayuse Caillou. Equally impressive but stylistically different. Would I have liked a longer finish on the Bedrock, yes; but by no means a disappointment.
2/8/20, 6:07 PM - Couldn't agree more. This is a gem from Costco for $17. I equate it with a bit thinner version of Hamilton Russell for half the price.
4/4/16, 7:28 PM - Yes, it was $18 at Costco in Metro Detroit. I don't know how homogenous their wine offerings are across the country.
10/21/13, 9:22 PM - I find our palates to be very much in agreement over the years, however we are far apart on this one. Maybe I got a bad bottle. On your score, I will give this another go down the road. Curious, I'm in Milford, where are you?
8/9/15, 8:33 PM - Thanks for the invite. I would very much like to attend. Keep me posted. rmoreland@comcast.net
3/30/15, 1:14 PM - That's one of the best tasting notes I've ever read. Literally laughed out loud.
2/23/15, 9:30 PM - Similar experience. three and a half years between bottles, and this was a completely different wine. I may have decanted too long. Did you decant? how long?
1/17/15, 1:46 PM - Thanks for the correction. I'm so Costco.
12/30/14, 11:50 AM - David Phinney, the creator of The Prisoner, sold this and the "Saldo", trademark to the Hunerus family of wines, (Quintessa). The first vintage with the new ownership in the 2012. This sale has created capital for Mr. Phinney's new projects much like what Charles Smith did up in Washington with The Velvet Devil and Kung Fu Girl, among others.
6/20/14, 5:32 PM - yes, pnp. I'm guessing I should have decanted.
2/23/14, 10:04 PM - I agree with your assessment, I found the Mid to be lacking as well. Maybe we both decanted to long. I will Vinvac and reassess tomorrow.
1/31/14, 7:19 PM - I have found that the Pinot offers from Inman Family to be of great value.
11/4/13, 9:08 AM - I'll give it another shot. I thought it was better the next day, so I'll decant it for a couple of hours next time.
3/27/13, 8:52 AM - Thanks for the insight jlb, I will keep that in mind. It's tough tough to sit on bottles for ten years when your on "the list". Before you can start to enjoy them, you'll have a cellar full of the same wine and about $2500 invested in it.
1/28/13, 6:06 PM - If its not your style than just accept it and move on. Burgundy and Oregon are similarly susceptible to vintage variation. When the pieces fall into place, it can be miraculous. If you want consistently over-concentrated high-powered (high alcohol) Pinot, than concentrate your efforts in Southern California, namely Santa Rita Hills or any label that has a big LWC on it. Oregon is a style unto itself. If its not your style. than move on.
11/29/11, 10:07 PM - I didn't read your review until after I posted mine, and I couldn't agree with you more.
4/19/11, 7:52 PM - Touché
2/14/11, 9:26 PM - No way in hell this wine stood up to a steak.
2/6/11, 7:28 AM - I agree that St. I really represents what Oregon is all about. I'm a huge fan. Enjoyed your review. Got me looking forward to my first T. H.
1/22/11, 4:28 PM - Nice choice. Did you see that you can buy the '09 futures for $22 per bottle?
10/26/10, 8:27 AM - I love this wine too, though it seems somehow that we are in the minority. I only have one left.:(
3/17/10, 2:24 AM - Agreed. This is one fine value. I bought it as a goof kinda, because I just watched Gary wave about it; and the night before and I passed on it at a wine bar in Ann Arbor. I opened it (Vinturi) thinking I would have a glass or two before bed, but I am afraid to let it oxidize overnight. I'm damn near three quarters through it. Not great, but really interesting. Raspberry, cedar, and a vegital quality not common in Cab. Easy drinker..
