First one of these that hit the expected heights. Garnet colour, clear and bright. Lovely nose with hints of spice, mint and cedar. The attack isn't strong but it deliciously balanced with great length, and the lovely sangiovese flavours a very present but the extra richness you'd expect from Tignanello. Ready now

Dark color with some brownish boundaries, conservative nose. Dark cherries, chocolate. A bit smoky. Very cultivated finish with smooth and elegant tannins, long and deep. But I missed the wonderful dominant red cherry note I had with so many Tignanellos in the past…

Deep red in the glass, some sign of age a very small hint of brown inside the edge.
Very strong when smelling the through the bottle neck. The aromas opened up in the glass. Tart and slightly cooked cherry, spice and perhaps liquorice, roast coffee.
Tasted well, a lot of mouth drying but silky tannins initially... A very, very long finish with cooked fruit, then a slightly alcoholic heat turning to leather, this gave way to a fizzy and light vanilla and watermelon sweetness towards the back of the tongue and even throat. It goes on for a long time.
I opened the complex wine 90 mins before drinking. We drank it over 3 to 3.5 half hours. It opened up a little more but it was mostly there after 90 minutes opening.
Its still in good nick but I'm glad I didn't leave it longer. I'd love to have had one to compare it too a couple of years back to see if there'd be less of the cooked fruit taste.
Very nice... 92.5 would be fair but it has an unusually long finish so I think it's a 93. I get the feeling it might have been 93 to 93.5 a couple of years back. Glad I bought it some time ago. They go for crazy money these days.

Brought this to Huat Kee Teochew Restaurant for dinner to celebrate a birthday with the extended family.
Decanted for an hour before consumption. Some nice balance and finesse on the nose and palate. Bright red fruits filled the glass, with plush notes of oak, aged leather, expresso, and tobacco.
Good texture, crafted with finesse. Overall an enjoyable wine.

A very good wine but not exceptional. Very tannic with pronounced oak. Some dark and red fruit, leather, cedar. Last glass was best with the bottle having been opened for about an hour prior.

Got a hint of smoke, fruit was vibrant but got the slightest taste of vinegar that you wouldn’t notice unless your looking for it. Overall drinking very smooth and very tasty. Decanted for an hour but wasnt necessary.

This was better than the last bottle I had with fine tannins and that almost ocean-like saltiness that I associate with Tignanello regarding of vintage. For me, it does fall a bit thin at the end. Drinking this bottle made me recognize that my palate prefers Tigs a bit younger than this (maybe 8-10 years).

More subtle and round than my typical experiences with Tignanello. While good it left me expecting more from a wine that I have quite a bit of experience with.

Earthy nose, very tight at first. Decanted & aired for 4 hours. After time the wine opened up with black cherry, tobacco & licorice flavors. First of two bottles purchased. Note to self - Hold to see what the future brings,

Typical Sangiovese nose: deep black fruits, tobacco and liquorice.
Very elegant mouth with a textured touch, the juice has a magnificent grain. The wine does not impose itself either by its concentration or its density, but a beautiful depth all in delicacy. The vanilla touch participates in the incipient complexity between the black fruit and the tobacco which integrates very well into a coherent and pleasant whole. Nice balance with an acidity that loosens the wine. Nice spicy finish on a good length.
Excellent

Why is this wine called a super Tuscan? And what is so super about it. It is a Chianti Classico, but it is not a top Chianti Classico. I would pick Castello di Ama, Don Tommaso, Castello di Fonterutoli etc before Tignanello every day of the week and they are all a fraction of the price.
Highly recommend - at peak, completely mature and drinking beautifully but overall a little bit more astringent and less fruit forward then some other rounder vintages. Drink or hold. This was not formally decanted but rather opened in the bottle for about 3 hours prior to consumption and I would recommend a 60-90 minute decant. No hurry though - this still has years left to go with proper cellaring. Enjoyed w/ risotto done using a modified version of a true, tested and time hallowed CT "wine guys" risotto recipe (thanks Tom Carlson, Tim Heaton, Scott Hollowell). Dark red, peripheral bricking present, soft mouth feel, well integrated - complex and balanced. Long lingering aftertaste. Much improved w/ food - at this point of maturation this really demands food. Nose of dark cherry up front evolving into a more sour cherry note, coffee and wood smoke. Flavor profile up front of dark stone fruit including dark cherry and blueberry giving way to lean earthier notes of coffee, graphite stone. 4 bottles left - will likely drink about one a year.

Opened approximately 1 hour prior to serving. Pours a purple/garnet, no signs of aging just yet. On the nose there is a beautiful mix of wild blackberry/black cherry, licorice, warm oak, and some black pepper. Lots of harmony, like everything is working nicely together. The palate shows tons of life left, some firm tannins that give way to a truly excellent balance of cherry, pepper, baking spice, hints of dried herb, and subtle campfire. So much balance and texture too. I love how the finish persisted, gently tapering off to get you ready for your next sip.

Drank for beef tenderloin Valentines dinner alongside a 2010 Tignanello. This had little nose, cherries and some spice on the palate. A very good wine, but didn’t raise to a higher level. The 2010 outshined it.

First time in 3 years I opened a 375. Poured a small bit to taste and then let it sit for two hours, then slowly drank over an hour and a half. A really nice bottle of wine. Dark berries, cherries, tobacco and licorice. A long enjoyable finish

2007: Dark red with thin garnet edge. Dark red cherry and a little sour cherry, cinnamon, and some oxidation in the first whiff. In the mouth it is medium+ body has cocoa, cinnamon, cherry raspberry in an athletic frame - so vivacious. Vanilla and tannin shows a bit in the end, and it is a long ending. Beautiful. 2008: Dark red. Clean, raspberry, cherry nose. The palate is pure fruit with a mineral and tannic streak. Only medium body, a little boney tannin. Let me decant this.... now it shows more aromatics in the mouth but remains rather strict when compared to the 2007 Tig.

Dark ruby color turning brick orange at the rim with a transparent edge. The nose gives off perfumed floral notes of red and black fruits with smoky vanilla on toasted oak. The palate is delicately soft on a medium body with bright acidity to balance the red and black cherry fruits that holds through the long, edgeless finish with secondary flavors of espresso, vanilla and scorched earth. Drink now until 2028. 94+

Just an incredible wine, now hitting stride; lots of development since my last bottle back to in 2013. Stood up and then decanted for approximately 45 minutes before enjoying with a Tuscan spice crusted, grilled pork loin with grilled peppers, Brussel sprouts, tomatoes, and whole mushrooms. Deep, dark ruby color. Advanced signs of development and early maturity: roasted bell pepper and celery, powdered chocolate, worn leather, leafy tobacco, spicy red currant, crushed blackberry, ripe black cherry, black plum with a dose of dry, black earth throughout. Tannins have long since integrated with fruits and acids creating complete and perfect balance. Long finish and worked perfectly with the food. Glad I held back a couple of bottles as this should drink well for another 4-6 years. Outstanding. The 2016, I enjoyed a couple of months back was also incredible, but at neatly 13 years, this was equally great but with some age…just displays the longevity of this brand.

beautiful nose on this... bright and lifted with cherry, iron, smoke, pepper. this needs some air before sipping though. straight out of the bottle, it's tight, tart, minerally and green. with enough air, it’s smoothes out but it's a much more linear tignanello (on day one anyway). unsure if more time on its side will change this. it reminds me of the '05.

Blind tasting of six top level Tuscan wines with friends. Lighter, less ripe and juicier than the two wines before. Assumed more Sangiovese in the blend. Quite elegant and fresh and surprisingly mineral. Good length, but not as deep and complex as other wines tonight. Group ranked it 3rd place of 6. I liked it a bit less than most other wines tonight, but it is still an excellent bottle of wine. - 91 points
Splash decanted and drank w lasagna. Flat, unyielding, very little fruit but not flawed…. Really was closed down. Not sure why at this age and w decant. One more bottle in the cellar…. Will see.

Based on Previous notes I decanted for 2 1/2 hours. That was just about right. The wine is well integrated smooth and very put together. Nothing out of place. It could probably last another 5 to 7 years.

Drinking well but still took some time to open. The second half was better than the first. Very smooth with lots of tennis on the finish. The wine looks brick colored. The legs are slow. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like forest floor. It tastes like prune. The body is full. The wine has leathery texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has medium acidity.

From a minor vintage. The result is a Tignanello playing more on elegant and etherial notes rather than power. Liqorice, spices, some hints of leather, mature dark berries. Acidity is present but never invasive. Well integrated tannins.

Very much in balance. Paired with a New York Strip. Not as heavy as some Cabs-- had a more elegant profile. Medium nose, medium finish. Will save other bottle for a few years to see evolution. Think this will last at least another three to five.

Not much nose. On the palate, heavy, reductive, gritty. Not oxidated but it tastes like that could be around the next corner. Not at all what Tig should be. That is, okay enough to drink with pizza but more like pedestrian Chianti than a hallowed wine. Recent notes from others are much more positive.

90 minute decant. Expressive nose, showing beautifully integrated, fine oak. The palate is silky smooth, it did deserve that ageaing. Drinking beautifully now, with 5 to 10 years ahead of it easily. The mid palate is not the most dense, but it gives the wine a delicate side that is very nice.

started off with less fruit and all italian earth when compared to a 2008 guado al tasso which was dueled this evening helped by a decant , this became more integrated and delicious as the evening progressed a slight winner for me due to the old world earthiness over the fruit

Decanted for 2 hours. Still a bright red ruby, and as per others, red cherries dominate the aromas and flavors, with a supporting cast of liquorice, eucalyptus, herbal notes and cedar from the oak. Moderate alcohol, good acidity and medium(+) tannins are all in balance. Drinking very nicely now, and will easily stand another 5 years or so.

Popped and poured. This is a medium-cherry-red wine with some modest sediment toward the end of the bottle. The nose is marked by cherries, with notes of red juicy fruit candies, scrub, and licorice root. In the mouth, this has crisp red fruit, carrying through to a layered and smooth red fruit finish. Overall, this is a well-built and versatile red wine — it is ready now but will last for at least a decade more. 92 points.

Decanted. Dark red. Blackberry, vanilla oak, some candy nuance. Cherry, bitter cherry, great concentration with balance. The structure of this succulent wine is ready to go, but that obvious oak needs time to retreat. Time in the decanter really helped.

Fruit forward and well integrated. Tannins are soft but frame the wine nicely. Will evolve nicely with some cellar time but it’s pretty delicious right now.
Tasted again on 8/22/18 Similar experience. I’ll add that the acidity is lovely here as well. The fruit is ripe and the wine is big, but it is well balanced. Has plenty of prime drinking left.

Tasted blind, I do not beleive this wine received any air prior to being in the glass for a couple hours. It had a deep red/purple center with red/orange rims. The medium intensity nose of black cherry, anise, and brown spices was attractive.
In the mouth, this wine was medium bodied, smooth, and balanced. It also showed light tannins, firm acidity, and good length. There was a subtle complexity that should become more pronounced with time.
This appeared to have the goods to improve with both many years in the cellar and extended aeration. However, I would have to try it again to be more confident about a prediction.

Consumed over 2 nights. The wine had no length right after opening the bottle. On the first night I decided to decant half of the bottle for 1 hour (the rest stored overnight in the in fridge). The wine was still pretty young but already good. With more time in the decanter it was getting better and better. On the second night decanting was not necessary. 91+ pts now. If you want to drink it now give it enough air or wait at least 2 more years.

2008 tignanello- more restrained, dark cherries, tannic, needs a few more years. (Last glass night two was better) 92 drink starting 2019
2008 Corbaia- more round, more fruit, more complexities (I think it has more cab in it), but maintains the silky fresh texture of Sangiovese that I love. 93 drink now or over next 10 yrs.

I bought this bottle at the lovely “Enoteca Pierangioli” in Moltalcino 2011. I remember asking good recommendations for the store’s manager and this label was not one of them. I decided to buy 2 bottles because you know…it is an Antinori. I remember seeing his look of disaprooval and saying like: - Antinori is pure marketing for tourists. Well, it may have a lot of marketing into it but , this wine is just perfect. How impressive its sublime elegance and precision. It is a impeccable, soft and delicate wine. There is not a hard edge to be found. Black cherries, tobacco, smoke and licorice are some of the notes that come through on the finish. The flavor profile is decidedly on the dark side, but the wine’s structure is medium in body and intensity. Why am I not giving more than 95? I am sure it can get better. I will let my second 2008 bottle to be opened in at least 4 years from now.

I have opened a bottle each year for the past 5 and this one just did not do it for me. I had thought after last year that the wine was finally coming together but here we are back to a very closed up wine. The nose was earth and olive. On pouring off a little and tasting it the olive was overbearing not letting anything through. 4 hours later the fruit started to come through but the olive and earth were still dominant. With the exception of one year where it all came together the finish is still harsh and disjointed. Back to the cellar for another year.
Pretty tight out of the bottle, needs air or time. Elegant. The fruit is quite restrained and this is rustic in style. Nice wine, but I prefer a more fruit forward super Tuscan.

Good wine, good food, good company (Park Avenue Winter): I like these with a bit more age or a long decant so I waited till almost the last wine to pour this one and was well rewarded. It has a nice mix of blackberry and green pepper going, good spice, drinking very well with the time open (I think the bottle had been open for prob 4 hours before I poured). Very nice.

Not a great vintage for Tuscany by any means. This is tight and tannic. Closed at the moment. What fruit remains is very sangio. Cedar. Earth. Tart cherry. My score is based on potential. I have two bottles left. Drink 2018+.

I dont know....Nothing special IMHO. Kind of don't get the other reviews. Rustic in style. Leather and dirt. Lots of wood. Maybe it will improve? Second and third tasting on following days allowed the wine to mellow a bit and fruit was able to come thru. So a bit better than first tasting. Still a lot of wood/bitterness. I have some 2010's I might try soon for comparison purposes.

This rating is based on potential - the wine tightly closed, more so than when I had a bottle last year even though I tripled decanted using a vinturi and let sit for two hours, the nose was full of fruit, the palate was dark fruit and black olives with some earth, the finish is what I consider still harsh. I am going to put the rest of the case into the back of the cellar for a couple of years and let it mature and mellow.

Still very tight lots of intensity and concentration, lots of wood, ripe tannins but the whole thing is a bit closed up currently. It needs at least another couple of years before I would approach again. Potentially a bad bottle as I had a couple of bottles in December and although young it was much more open.

Drank with a 1991 that was corked, and a 2001 that tasted in its prime. This 2008 by comparison could for sure use some maturing. Compared to the 2001, this wine had little nose, and none of the mustiness that the older bottle had. The 2008 also had odd sweet notes that I expect will dissipate with time. Hold off until 2017 or 18 before opening the next bottle...

Decanted 2 hours which was a very worthwhile investment. The 08 is just beginning to show its quality but gee it's an elegant wine. Familiar leather, cherry and a touch of cedar on the nose. Medium body with very fine tannin, more cherry cola and meaty/leathery notes on the palate. A very linear wine that doesn't overwhelm with body, sweetness or tannin but imposes with it's elegance and typicity of this Cuvee and winemaker. Excellent.

2015 New Year's Day Tasting- Double Blind $80+ (Marietta, GA): Dark maroon with lighter rim; dried red fruit, orange oil, sour cherry, red currant; softer, ripe, structured, black cherry liqueur, green pepper, sandalwood, herbs, savory; very much Sangio with Cabernet; called '07 Tignanello.
Beautiful bottle. A little reticent at first, but after about two hours really showed gorgeous fruit on the nose, and luscious, but strong tannins. Most enjoyable bottle.

Nice ruby color. Mild nose of dark berries, spice. The palate evolves in your mouth. It starts off mild and mellow. Then, wait for it, the tannins and acidity kick in as do multiple layers of spice, cassis, mocha, cherry, mild blueberry. There is a touch of earthiness, but the wine is still young. Medium long finish. This was a pop 'n pour, and the wine matured throughout the evening.

Westchester Wine School - Premium Wine Tasting (Bar Lees, Mamaroneck, NY): Drank at WWS tasting opposite a 1998 Tign. Dark red color, nose a bit on the tight side, with wood, some leather and some vanilla. Sweet red fruit, tightly structured, very concentrated with very long, firm tannins & slate. It has been almost a year since I opened a bottle. It was a 375 and we pnp'd - the wine has come together. Beautiful nose of ripe fruit, deep red in color. This one really needs alot of decanting. Totally not drinkable when open. Tight, little aroma and full of tannins on 30mins. I put into a decanter for 3 hours and then poured it back into the bottle. 2 hours later, I tried it again. This time, the aroma bouquet filled the brim of the wine glass. Cassis, leather, plum, choco and more. Tannins still high but better integrated. Paired it with braised duck and the tint of spice added good flavour to the dish. This is a big wine and will need a few more years to fully integrated. Looking forward to my next bottle.

Was expecting a young wine, way ahead of its time and it's almost as if the 2008 is already past its prime! Very dense and structured, but a hint of madere suggest prematured oxydation?
Have not tried in a year, wine has not developed much further and still has a long life ahead of it. Vanilla, cedar, dark fruits and spice dominate the palate with a long lingering finish.

Flight 6, Central and Southern Italy, Wine 9 (blind): The wine was dark ruby in colour and offered dark fruit, cherry, coffee, chocolate and some balsamic notes on the nose. On the palate the wine showed dark berries, cherry, coffee, chocolate and some balsamic notes, paired with medium-level acidity, medium-plus fine, grippy tannin and very good length. A nice coffee note lingered on the aftertaste for quite some time. The oak was quite present on the nose and palate, but not overbearing; the wine was very balanced, with good concentration. It may be drunk now, but still has good upside potential, and will hold up for another ten to fifteen years. Probably my favourite Tignanello to date. 91+

Dark purple color turning violet at the rim with a deep, powerful nose of dark berries, perfumed leather with floral scents of violets and lavender. The palate is high-pitched with vibrant acidity. It has a muscular tannic grip that clamps the mouth at the onset, but unleashes wonderful flavors of dark cherry, espresso, tobacco, smoke, and vanilla notes. Finishes long and intensely persistent. This scores very close to the 2007 vintage, but is edged out because the 2007 is more finely-nuanced, balanced and delicate, whereas this delivers power. Nonethelss, it's delicious to drink now with a 2-hr decant or drink from 2014 (decant for 1-hr) to 2024.

Dark red. Cherry jam, kirsch notes. Dry tannins, well integrated acidity (sangiovese), nice fruit, coffee and dark berries. Very acessible now but I guess it will benefit from a few more years of cellaring. Drink now - 2022.

Classy stuff. Beautiful color, nose is a bit light, with some black liquorice, smoke, tanned leather and dark fruit. Surprisingly light on the palate, too; tannins are softening and it is already very drinkable. Cherry flavors predominate; a little oak, but not too much. Silky and elegant, but not much power. Very easy drinking. Not sure if I agree with the notes that say this needs another five or six years; doesn't seem to me that it will be a wine for the long haul. But it's certainly drinking well now. Worth the hefty price tag? Probably not.

Complex red with sour cherry, oak, still tight opens up after three hours. Medium body. Needs to age another four years or so for rough edges to soften and tannins to meld,

Removed cork 2 hours before tasting. Long, fast legs. Deep purple/garnet. On the first day, nose of red fruits, slight meat, a little tobacco. Tasted like a modern Napa wine. If I tasted it blind,i would have guessed it to be from Oakville. Went great with hickory burgers and French dip sandwiches at Houston's. Capped, vacuumed and refrigerated for next day consumption. On the second day, nose was very muted and wine tasted very acidic. I recommend to drink the whole bottle in one sitting.

Another great effort. Dinner at Brushketa in San Antonio. This was deep purple to the rim with vanilla oak, cream, integrated tannins but enough for some 5-10 more years. Dark fruit. Perfect with Brick Oven Lamb chops, peruvian potatoe gnocchi with panchetta, and more.

Deep ruby colour. Earthy, sweet spice and black fruits. Also black fruits on the palate, with hints of bramble, cedar and coffee. Tannins are dry and still to the fore. Good long finish. Very good.

Intense fruit-forward nose of cassis and black cherry. Some tobacco, dark liquorice and slight florality. Quite fullbodied palate with supple tannic grip and balanced refreshing acidity. Some milky oak character, liquorice and slight herbaceous lift. Fruit-forward stuff. There's structure to balance the fruit, but IMO this wine needs years to become interesting.
Italian wine tasting (Watson's, Hong Kong): Bright red, sour cherry and blackcurrant, not very noticeable vanilla. Smooth and round, spicy, fine tannins, good length. Big - needs five years.

Drank at Carpe Diem in Napa after the Lillian. Totally different ball of wax than the Lillian. Nice tar, earth, cherries, and slight Italian funk on the nose. The mouth is rich with red fruit and earth notes. Great acidity and balance. Much better than the last bottle I had. Should improve with some bottle age.

- Brick color. It's somewhat balanced with a medium body. Round texture with a medium finish - Had at Runway 84 with Tom, Terri, Haz and Marie. We had it in joker glasses which really took away from the wine. Still lovely but not your usual Tiggy. I give it a 90 but I really think the stemware had a lot to do with it, Ili gave it a 94 so we split the difference.

Not a complex Tig, and young, but better than expected with long decant and cool-down the wine thickens. This will put weight on in bottle. Wait 5yrs, some upside.

On the nose, I've got lots of liquorice, some oak and red fruits. On the palate, this is full bodied, classy with refined tannins and medium aftertaste. Liquorice is very pronounced on the palate as well. It's very good but way overpriced. 90+

Way young but daddy had to have some. Big bright nose. Fruit explosion with hints of licorice. Smooth and supple mouth feel. Lots of raspberries and black cherries. Rather simple right now. Tannins seem misplaced. Let's see how it ages. Great now but give it time.

An Evening With Antinori Wines (Specs Austin, TX (Brodie Lane)): An Evening With Antinori Wines, SPECS Austin, TX: Fuller bodied, very dark, intense ruby color. Blend of 80% Sangiovese, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Cabernet Franc. Earthy aromas of dark cherries, blackberries, chocolate, and slight hints of vanilla. “New World” in style, exhibiting a great black and red fruit flavor profile , but also showing plenty of tertiary flavors of tobacco, coffee, and chocolate. Rounded tannins. Long, persistent finish.

Decanted for 5 hours. Noticeably thinner than previous vintages, but witha certain elegance that negates its lack of power. A nose of Chianti, with Sangiovese up front, a few swirls in the glass gave way to bright cherry and rich vanilla custard. The wine is all but weightless on the palate, but without sacrificing integrity. The tannins and acid are just grumpy enough at this point to suggest a little nap, but the upside to this wine over the next decade is promising.

Helluva waft of alcohol on the initial corking with a medium reddish color and a hint of tobacco, graphite and red berries. After an hour of decanting this wine became quite sublime and well balanced with some tannins remaining. Perhaps a good possibility of aging here.

Wine Education Service - Super Tuscans (LSE): Opaque, a bit of age. A nose with some development under the fruit. Fruity, very attractive but still very tannic, good length - I would keep this at least three years.
Marchesi Antinori (Firenze) (Firenze): Intense ruby red, with purple rim. Crystalline. Intense complex and fine nose: Rhubarb and liquorice over red fruits. Good acidity at taste, a bit tannic due to its youngness. Very complex, full mouth, very persistent and fine. This vintage was 80% Sangiovese, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cab. Franc. [LM: 89/2011]

We drank 2 double magnum's of this wine at a group dinner in Cincinnati. I'm a big fan of Tig, but clearly this wine is still very very young and won't really be ready for another 5 or 10 years. The group enjoyed the Tig a lot, though I found it to be very tannic with some hard edges. It evolved slightly in the decanter but I believe it would take a several hour decant to open this baby up properly. This might get up to a 93 or maybe even a 94 over the next 5 to 10 years but I'm not positive. If you have some 2008 Tig, I'd lay it down for at least 2-3 years before touching it.

For a young Tig this was really approachable. Medium bodied with a nice core of fruit. Seemed a little leaner than usual but constructed really well. Fine tannin on the finish indicates this will head into better places. 90+

the ambient and wine were too warm so need to treat with caution - however my reaction was this was a smaller scaled tignanello than recent vintages, slightly simpler and the oak is at this stage quite pronounced. reserve judgement for now but would be surprised if in same class as 04/06/07...

Excellent

This is a gorgeous and elegant example with dark fruit (berries and black cherry), tobacco and vanilla.
Medium bodied with lots of acidity this wine seems to be at its peak , but will easily last another decade or more if stored properly.
Given the vintage and the quantity produced this wine is at a remarkable quality level.

First time tasting this, new had it with grilled lamb chops. As advertised, the Cabernet adds complexity, body and depth to the 80% Sangiovese , this is subtle but deep, good acidity without being tart. For my tastes it is drinking quite well now.

This wine is a great example of buying from a great producer in a "forgotten" vintage and cellaring properly for a decade...
The win has a beautiful medium to dark ruby appearance with no signs of age.
Evolved and mature nose of black fruits, baking spice, menthol and also complex balsamic, tobacco and herbal notes. Just gorgeous!
Medium plus in body with integrated tannins and medium acidity. Lots of black fruits, vanilla and baking spice on the palate with a nice long finish.
This wine (or maybe this bottle as one never knows) is drinking spectacularly and properly stored bottles should hold for at least another decade.

92 points.

Excellent.

Then, wait for it, the tannins and acidity kick in as do multiple layers of spice, cassis, mocha, cherry, mild blueberry. There is a touch of earthiness, but the wine is still young. Medium long finish. This was a pop 'n pour, and the wine matured throughout the evening.

A nice coffee note lingered on the aftertaste for quite some time. The oak was quite present on the nose and palate, but not overbearing; the wine was very balanced, with good concentration.

Great Tuscan nose. Incredible minerality. Dark deep fruit with mild tones of cigar box. Tannins still intense and a bit out of sorts.

If you have some 2008 Tig, I'd lay it down for at least 2-3 years before touching it.

the ambient and wine were too warm so need to treat with caution - however my reaction was this was a smaller scaled tignanello than recent vintages, slightly simpler and the oak is at this stage quite pronounced. reserve judgement for now but would be surprised if in same class as 04/06/07...
