Well one of my lovely guests at a Holiday Party basically guzzled this juice like it was her last drink of water in the middle of the Mojave Desert! I had a glass (maybe) and it truly WAS an impressive well aged CHARD. Key Lesson: Always remember to have a back up plan in case it’s really THAT good :)

Fantastic. Center of the plate pitch for me. Rich fruit, dry oak, and no "pucker" (e.g. malo). Everything is fully resolved, though this bottle could have been cellared for another few years without a problem. Given this flavor profile is completely what I'm looking for in a bigger bodied California Chard, take my score with a grain of salt. That said, this rocks my world this evening.

Pale apple juice color. Flowery apple, mango nose. Oaky apple, quite acid on the palate. Probably, as others have commented, past its prime. In spite of the somewhat unflattering preceding comments, it is still quite enjoyable.

Past its prime, with drying fruit and a hot mid- and backpalate. Musty notes come out over time, possibly due to oxidation of the oak integration. Better when served chilled than at room temperature, though not by much. Drink up!

The 2009 Beringer drank as well as ever. My last bottle had given me some concern, but this bottle was yellow to the edges and had a perfect sharpness with notes of butter, lemon, cream and wildflowers. It went great with smoked salmon.

A nose of citrus and spice, medium yellow in color. A medium to full bodied white, with citrus, apple, minerals, some smoke, not a butterball, at or past peak. X-Mas eve wine. www.winelx.com

Beringer PR has always been my favorite for a rich, buttery chardonnay. This wine might be a year past peak, but it is still rich and delicious. You have to be in the mood for a malolactic wine, though. Not a bright and fruity wine. More caramel-apple style.

Medium gold color. PNP, drank 2+ glasses over 2.5hrs. Didn't realize this was my last bottle before opening. But it was a good way to go out. Drinking wonderfully now. Nose shows lemon, smoke, toast, white flowers with a hint of Spring sweetness. The palate is full bodied, round and taut, smokey, lemon, citrus, a bit tropical, pear, fresh, spices, medium plus on the finish. 92+pts.

This wine remains delicious. On the nose there is bold citrus, white flowers, and some salinity. On the palate there is white peach, d' Anjou pear, cinnamon, lemon peel, and a nice spicy viscous finish. Very fine oak integration with this bottle, and there is nice cut to the finish that holds up well for a CA chardonnay. The acidity remains quite fresh, and while this doesn't have the length of a white Burgundy, the effort has been very consistent across all bottles. Sadly this is my last bottle. Served with shrimp carbonara.

Was in the mood for a rich white to pair with pork chops and this is the first wine that came to mind. CA chard is normally not my style and I winced at the 14.9% alc but I opened it and it did better than I expected. Not over the top oaky or fruity. Good acidity supports the mostly white fruit. There is a slight vegetal (yellow pepper?) element which makes it interesting. There is a touch of heat on the finish but I can live with it. Solid.

Straw yellow, pale rim with no obvious signs of age. Buttered bananas, roasted pineapple, some balancing citrus, fairly subtle oak on balance. Smooth and a little sweet, lemons, banana, brighter than the nose would suggest, reasonable acidity, a little sherbet on the finish, bright finish with citrus and acidity. Drinks well now, well balanced, great with food.

Grillin' and Chillin' Offline: Champagne and Whites (Rocknroller's (Kevin's)): Light gold color. Drank 1 glass over 40 minutes. Nose has apple, lemon, lightly toasted oak. The palate was creamy, citrus, spice, full body, elegant, nice acids, medium plus finish, well balanced. Less tropical than past bottles. My #3 WOTN.

CES Lab Wine Tasting #9 (Home): Full bodied Chardonnay with some butter on the nose - probably just a little more than I would like. Round mouth feel with some flavors of lemon and mild flower. Decent acidity, but I generally prefer a little more.

Big, spicy, lots of butter and oak. But surprisingly not over the top. Great initial attack that fades somewhat and leaves a shorter finish than what was expected but all in all, nice.
When you think about the entire Cali Chard landscape, this really is a "best buy" at around $25-28 a bottle. I mean, they produce oh about a million bottles but consistency, consistency consistency year after year after year (think "Sonoma-Coutre" at $10 less a bottle). Very nice.

A nice wine. Color is light gold. At first, upon opening, it was a bit too aggressive with alcohol and butter. But after sitting in the bottle for two days it came together, the alcohol subsided and became a well made drink. On the nose there is a California sweetness, a medicinal note, and a hint of orange. On the palate, the wine has weight and viscosity, but is delivered with a silky quality. There is creaminess and butter, however, it stops short of being overdone.

Weird. On opening this was amazing. Nice creamy texture, great fruit flavours and a touch of (non-sugar) sweetness. The oak and ML and everything was working together wonderfully. After some air and time warming up, though, this turned into an oak bomb in all the worst ways. Currently re-chilling it in the hopes that the oak came out due to temperature instead of oxygen, but not optmistic on that count.

Generally consistent with prior note. Aroma of light citrus and floral. Palate consists of pear, cinnamon, and orange peel, with a nice spicy viscous finish. The finish is a little more oak influenced on this bottle. Bottle paired very well with grilled steelhead, steamed rice, and peaches. Love the spice on this which restrains the oak.

My notes from 11/3/2011 are below. Most remains the same except that the wine has evolved and is richer, silkier today. In addition acidity has adjusted, resulting in a well balanced wine. Excellent effort!
11/3/2011: Rich aromas of buttered tropical fruits. A delicate and graceful wine on the palate bursting with tropical fruits and pineapple. Rich, creamy with subtle oak. Just missed the mark on acidity (not enough), keeping my score in the low 90's.

(9/1 - 9/2/12): Popped and poured at about 52 degrees. Very pleasant nose of lemon, butter, straw and honeysuckle. Very long and smooth buttery taste with little hints of oak. This was our second bottle from the case in the last few weeks and it is very good. This bottle was not, however, quite as good as the last on the first day. On the second day it was truly magnificent.

After being wowed by the first few bottles, this is the second bottle that's fallen short of the magnificent first ones. As I said of the previous bottle, I wonder if I haven't stored them well. Either that, or the wine is simply better young. Still a good chardonnay though

Nice. Intense. Wish I had decanted this one in hindsight. Yes, I'll say it again and I don't care what you think.... I wish I had decanted this one. Had 15 minutes to dinner and pulled the cork - - - nothing out of the bottle. Uh oh. Pop and pour into a glass. This was a medium yellow straw color. On the pour in the glass you could almost SEE the Malo on this one as it just coated the glass. The nose on this one after vigorously swirling in the glass revealed some honeysuckle, lemon, pineapple...citrus. But there was certainly some alcohol initially too. The palate was alcoholic with creamy butter, lemon, (wife got creme brulee), caramel, and butterscotch. The structure was quite solid after it opened but was quite ADHD initially. As the wine opened, all of these notes just sort of integrated so well. Initially you could get more lemon on one sip, another more caramel, and another more butterscotch, then slowly started to balance. This one was creamy from start to finish, and as it was open for the better part of an hour as it was consumed, there was a nice white pepper spice that started to percolate in. I thought that this one was going to be heady - it wasn't. I thought it was going to finish a little stronger....well, unfortunately it didn't either. The wine had just about zero oak. You could detect it more before the wine fully opened itself, but after 30 minutes I don't think I was getting any oak at all. No significant tannin for being 9 months in French Oak. I think many of these sub 90 reviews were pop, poured and quickly consumed and since none of these mention decant time. I wish I had another case. Keep for another 3 years.

While I liked this quite a lot, I have to say that I liked it less than the 2009 Antinori Napa Chard. See my other note on that wine. This is less expensive and it appears to be better reviewed here than the Antinori. All the usual things to say about a CA Chard apply to this along with my positive accolades. I have another 4 bottles pending from Garagiste and will try again soon. The bottle I consumed was a recent purchase from WINEX.

This bottle was a little more oak and butter than the last bottle I had and I am not a real fan of the buttery oak. I still rather enjoyed the citrus and the nose of the glass and that redeemed it a bit. Still a great glass of Chard but didn't make me as happy as times past. Perhaps my tastes have changed and I am now leaning more towards the cleaner French whites and SBs. If you like new world Chard then you will probably really enjoy this bottle.

Light yellow color and clear. Subtle nose of pinneaple. The attack and middle are the strengths of this wine. Rich, flavorful and smooth without being over done. The finish is nice, but periodically I detected unattractive woody notes late in the finish - otherwise, I would have rated the wine even more positively. Shows better 60+ minutes after opening.

Not my style chard(I prefer white Burgs). Perfumey and abrasive right out of the bottle. Apricot, caramel, & butterscotch. Rich, rich, rich. Malo city. Discombobulated at times with the alcohol, acidity & wood charatoristics overpowering each other. Nice for contrast, but I'm going back to Bugundy.

Tasted non blind with dinner. Opened and served immediately. Followed over about an hour.

Tasted blind. Clear, gold, medium minus in intensity. The nose is clean, of medium intensity, and developing, with pleasant aromas of tropical fruit, vanilla and honey. The palate is dry, with medium acidity and medium plus alcohol, body, flavor intensity and finish. The palate is noticeably buttery and creamy, with some citrus, pear, and pineapple on the finish. Overall, this is a very good wine, with lovely intensity and mouthfeel. Drinkeable now, but has potential for ageing. It is not overdone, and is quite a good value for this style of wine.

Christmas Eve Wines (Dave's, Mpls): Medium gold color. Wow, this was impressive, the nose really jumps out at you, bright, lovely tropical fruits, with oodles of white flowers, just enough oak to interest you, a bit of butter, and a hint of the richness the palate holds. The palate is wonderful, full, yet elegant, layered and rich, bright acidity, tropical fruits and hint of citrus, restrained oak, this leaves you with a mouthcoating creamy finish. Very classy.

Medium to full body, with delicate nose of exotic fruits and citrus that carries through on the palate; the new oak is just right, and the viscosity does not give the impression of being oleaginous; the medium finish has faint notes of vanilla; only a tad hot, at 14.9% ABV.

The first thing I noticed about this wine was the vicosity it possesed. Long dripping legs coated my glass, melon notes and layers of fig components on the palate. Distintive spice box lingered throughout the creamy finish. Good acid will allow this wine to age a bit. Paid $19.99 at Nugget Market. This is a case buy. Good solid Chardy.

I am the king of the $30 dollar chardonnay. It's not that I mind paying more, its just that there are too many other reds I would rather blow a $100 bucks on. And although I like variety in my reds, when I find a white I like I buy by the case. E.g. 07' Rhombauer, 08' Beringer Reserve. Everything you liked about the 08' is in the 09', except bring it down a notch. The 09' is less "in your face" and more finess with the same creme bruelee, butterscotch, toffee profile. Much more acidity and less viscous than the 08'. I think I prefer the 08' over the 09', but the latter is more food friendly. Regardless, a phenominal expression of Chardonnay with an awesome QPR. Bravo again Beringer!!!

Nice.

This is less expensive and it appears to be better reviewed here than the Antinori. All the usual things to say about a CA Chard apply to this along with my positive accolades. I have another 4 bottles pending from Garagiste and will try again soon. The bottle I consumed was a recent purchase from WINEX.

Nice floral bouquet on the nose. Citrus, Hints of granny smith apples, vanilla, creme brulee, and nutmeg. It's more delicate then previous vintages. Finishes with some nutty oak.
