felt very closed down when I decanted it at 11am... opened some by dinner (at Spruce in SF, 1st time, good food fo sho) but not enough to make this a 94 or 95 as some have rated it... I would probably wait 3-4 years to try my next (have 7 more of this vintage)... by that time it could be a true classic based on prior notes

Jordan Intro-Retro (Zoom / Chicago): Double blind. Gorgeous, enthralling nose of sweet black cherry with loads of spice. The palate beams with concentrated cherry fruit that has precise delineation of an array of complex flavors. Young but harmonious and complete, like so many great 2010s. A thrilling wine. My #2, Group #3.

Chicago Wine Flock...Burgundy Double Blind from JW (Chicagoland IL): In Faiveley Corton-Clos des Cortons Faiveley 2010-2012 vertical. I have not had this wine since just after release. Ripe and fleshy with very bright fruit and textures. Easily accessible but also durable and powerful. Kept getting bigger and better with more time in glass.

10 years old, but you hardly feel the age. Transparent ruby. Nose develops over the evening, with increasing raspberry, shoeshine?, truffle. Great balance with good freshness. Very long taste with soft tannins. It doesn’t say a lot, but it is clearly the best burgundy I ever had!

Clearly the odd man out here but thought this Corton was rather lean and one-dimensional and although still tight, the cherry fruit is pretty straightforward, did not pick up on any of the "broad-shouldered flavors," "breathtaking power" or "mouth coating finish" Meadows did, maybe it's just too young but I doubt it, I think J. Robinson's review was the closest to my experience, don't get me wrong, it's not a bad wine it's just not a 95 pointer
Dinner at Darren & Sophia's (Fifth Avenue): Still way too young, but this was quality. The nose was still rather tight and subtle, with notes of fresh herb and spice and a bit of toasty oak drifting through a core of red cherries and darker blueberries fringed with a little floral hint. The palate had a lovely clarity and strength to it, with sinewy, powerful notes of dark cherries and berries laced with flecks of spice and menthol. Still really tightly wound - this was coiled like a spring, with lots of tension and energy at its core. Very impressive though - a really complete wine, with true Grand Cru depth and balance, lots of muscle on it, but also an admirable purity and definition. Lovely finish too, long, full and satisfying, with dark berry fruit laced with more of those spicy notes.

Day 1: popped and poured. Approachable, but still young. Saved 1/3 bottle for Day 2. Day 2: more depth and body than Day 1. Light-moderate aromas of red/black cherry. Flavors of red/black cherry, touch of forest floor, that finishes with light spice and light-moderate smooth tannins that linger for 30+ seconds. Moderate complexity/long finish. Barely rustic, if at all. Overall, a pure and refined grand cru with lots of upside after 2030. 92-94.
Faiveley has been producing one of the best red wine from Corton in recent vintages. It is properly rich and sexy, comparable to Cote de Nuits Grand Cru from good producers. Tasted blind – A potent array of dark fruits and smoked minerals.
Good acidity, juicy berries and fragrant spices. Ripe yet attractive and approachable now. Gevrey Chambertin Grand Cru, 2011, Perrot Minot? Chambertin Clos de Beze? (92/100)

Coravin two glasses. Initially, a tad reductive. That blew off in minutes. Light aromas of red fruits. Moderate fllavors of red fruits and earth. Good acidity, nicely balanced. Very refined. Integrated light tannins. Moderate+ complexity. Hugely long finish that lingered for minutes. Young, enjoyable now, but nowhere near its potential. A gorgeous wine with lots of upside. 92-95.

Tasted this blind. It has a perfect medium garnet color tapering evenly and elegantly towards the rim. Notes of smoke, incense, forest floor and dried herbs complement the red fruits that are starting to take a back seat given this age. Finishes long and very elegantly with silky sweet tannins. Overall, the color, aromas, acidity, and texture all hold up in a perfect, delicate balance. Drink now with a 40-minute decant or between 2020 to 2035. 96+

Opens slowly. Perhaps a dumb phase. Tasted along side the JOBLOT Givery 2005 Cellar au Moines, this wine barely held it's own. Opened with time in glass. Elegant wine, hinting of future greatness. Hold this wine and enjoy in the years ahead..
Medium garnet. Deep and complex nose of dark fruit, earth, bacon, spices. Very soft mouth feel to my surprise, especially for a Corton. A small gap in the mid palate prevents an even higher score. Very good showing nevertheless.

NR as too young but this seemed to be of 93 pt quality already... with 94-95 pt potential, this thing had really depth and density but with lift / structure to support the weight, will certainly be better when aged (could be 10 - 25 years of positive development), on the dark fruited side but this could go slightly redder as it ages... uncertain at this point whether the darkness if simply youth at this point

From 750: Perhaps entering a dumb phase after several years of strutting it's youthful exuberance. Tasted over a period of 2 hours, this wine was initially closed relative to earlier tastings. It blossomed in the glass, and outshone the likes of Kistler ( which eventually came across as one dimensional). Reticent early nose blossoms with time in the glass, and leads to an elegant well balanced fruity palate balanced with well integrated oak and good acidity. Great finish reflecting all the good things on the palate.

Consumed on NYE with some great friends. Opened and followed over 2 hours . This is a bruiser and the elegance, depth of fruit and fine grain tannin that showed so great young are starting to duck into the shadows. It's now time to bury these and let em sleep IMO. 2016 sounds about right to check in again.
Astounding how accessible this wine was tonight -- and it was served from magnum no less! Quite pure and pretty at the moment, wonder if it will shut down soon?

had to try this to see if i need to buy more - quick answer is yes, this has great balance right out of the shoot and is drinkable at this young age, bordering on full bodied there are plenty of both fruit and non-fruit elements, almost savory / meaty to balance the darkish fruit, but really polished and not having the awkward youngish issues even at this stage, so balanced for so young a wine, and yet it seems to promise to age long and well… more to come for this bottling but great rt now as well, (95+ potential with 10-20 years of age i think)

(Decanted for three hours.) I have had this wine on a three occasions and have finally gotten around to writing a review. The color is ruby with flashes of black cherry. The nose is expressive and very special: ripe red and black fruits combine with garden sage, sawn cedar, wood smoke, dried roses, hawthorn bush, and cheese rind. Plush, almost full-bodied in the mouth, the wine is the epitome of perfectly-ripened pinot noir grapes. (Sappy only begins to describe the degree of concentration found here.) Rich and intense flavors of cherry, strawberry, brambleberry, pigeon breast, fennel bulb, bay laurel and insinuations of funk and dried mushroom are enlivened by tangy acidity. The tannins are rather firm but noble. Nearly seamless, this very young wine is already a marvel of power and grace. Lay it down for a decade and prepare yourself for something very special. 96+ points for now and at least a couple more in the future. (By the way, I recently opined that the 2010 Bouchard Père et Fils Corton-Le Corton is just behind this wine in overall quality. I stand by that assessment.)
Wow! Allen Meadows says to start drinking this in 2030. If you, like I, don't expect to live that long, don't hesitate to pop one open now. This certainly has the stuffing to last a couple of decades, but it is hard to resist now. Pinot nose springs from the bottle upon opening leading seamlessly to a well balanced, concentrated palate, and a one minute plus finish. My favorite of eight Cote de Beaune wines in my club's recent tasting. (only Grand Cru) Will only get better with bottle age.

Good nose. Floral and intense. Smooth and sweet on entry initially. Notes of dark berry, cassis, spice, vanilla chocolate, and toasty oak. Slight warmth at finish. More red fruits emerge after aeration, fresh acidity level of this vintage. Good structure and length. Six hours after uncorked, shows better balance of red and black fruits. Maintains great balance and freshness on 2nd day. Put on more weight, good showing. One of the best young Burgs tasted recently but probably still slightly behind Lecien Le Moine Clos St Denis 2009. 93-95 pts.

Drank over 2 days. Very primary and really took until the late 2nd day to come out of its shell. The nose is a bit bretty but not too offensive. Adds a nice savory element to the nose. Flowers and red fruit a abundant as well. The palate is robust and locked down. Tight red fruit and nice grip from the tannins. Great wine.

Opened a few days ago, and now finally losing its allure, but still delicious. One of the most beautiful, profound young wines I've had. Power and finesse, no hard edges, just pure Burgundian fruit and soil intermixed. Hard to believe this isn't scored even more highly by the critics. Exceptional high-toned red and black fruits, earth, super long finish.
Top 09 and 10 red Burgundy tasting (Capital Grill at Tysons corner, VA): Starts with black fruits, sap and exceptional earthy and mineral expression. Excellent concentration, sweet fruits and nicely integrated tannins. With air, a bit more red fruits, warm and round palate. This particular bottle is drinking beautifully and not showing the masculine corton typicity. It has been mentioned over and over again that this is the wine to own from the 10.

Another Saturday at Knightsbridge - mostly blind (Northbrook, IL): Tasted double blind. Easily identifiable as a young Burgundy. Decanted approx one hour. Lean red cherry and strawberry aromas with great spice aromas. Elegant flavors, seemingly close to accessible today, I thought this from a more forward vintage like 2007, very pleasantly surprised to see it the amazing 2010 that I also enjoyed several times last year. Lacy and enticing start-to-finish.

Now this is just a wonderful young wine drinking great almost from the go. A deep and beguiling nose immediately. Lovely complexity of fruit and soil tones, great freshness and impressive depth on the palate. Works really well as a pop and pour, but became a bit closed on the second day.

One Heck of a Saturday: A Beautiful young Corton. Powerful aromas of black cherry, minerals, loam. Laser-like focus on the palate, with grippy tannins and bursting acid. Plums and cherry flavors are compact, but delightful. So young, but this will get so much prettier over the course of its very long life.

I was picking up my order of the 10 Faiveley so I popped a bottle of the 10 Corton CdC to share and took 1/3 back to drink with my dinner.
My first impression is almost like the 09 ripe fruit impression. Red and black fruits, blackberry dominating, floral, animal a la Beaujolais, sappy, tar, nutmeg, Chablis like minerality and earth. The plate displays exceptional concentration yet airy texture, sweet fruit, bright acidity and sweet but noticeable tannins. Perhaps knowing that I am drinking a corton, the overall impression is quite masculine and earthy. This may shutdown in a year or two as the structure is clearly present. It is a big scale wine with intense ripe sweet fruits but more acidity and precision than a typical 09. Impressive wine.

Faiveley 2010 Tasting (Caro's Wines, Auckland, New Zealand): monopole. mineral, slight toast, peppery raspberry/pinot fruit. highish acid. a fleshy style kept in check by its acid. more of a fruit driven wine than the 2010 Chambertins - its "juicy-fruit" style is easy to like yet there is clearly lots of potential here (and just as structured) . very different style to the big Chambertins.

Wildman New Release Burgundy Tasting (Peninsula Hotel - Chicago IL): Barrel sample. Red and black cherry aromas with tarragon, black pepper and sage. Big, powerful, dense fruit accompanied by firm tannins. Explosive finish showcases the black fruit and spice. Probably will need 20 years in the cellar, but this will be an exciting Corton when ready.

Young but yet very approachable. Deep pinot nose and palate. Dark cherries perhaps. Well balanced, with no single element standing out. Long finish. As with other '10s I have had, no sign of closing down. Great now, but will only improve.

typical burg nose, touch of fruit and bitter tea with the first sip, than the tea fades away and is replaced by black cherry and fresh leather stain.

La Paulée de New York: Vertical Tasting (Colicchio & Sons - New York NY): Tasting. Probably the 5th or 6th time I have tried this wine and this was consistent with my prior notes, which I won't repeat, and quite simply one of the most exciting examples of young Corton I have ever tried.

La Paulée de New York 2013 Verticals Tasting (Colicchio & Sons, New York): Fair bit of oak on the nose, vanilla, lovely structure, firm, delicious, with a sense of purity despite its size.

(Most of) The Burgundy Verticals Tasting at La Paulee 2013 (Colicchio & Sons, New York): Black cherry liqueur nose. Similar flavors, medium weight, excellent thread of soil and significant back end tannins. All told, I was amazed at how supple and pliant this was at this tender age.

As beautiful as everyone says it is at this time. Wonderful rich fruit, sweetness, vanilla, and black tea. Great texture. Regret only having 3.

Knightsbridge Annual Wildman Burgundy Dinner (Trump International Hotel - Chicago IL): This was the 5th or 6th time I've had this wine in the past year and it has been consistently sensational, amazingly accessible and charming today but with the substance, concentration and dry extract to age and improve for decades.

Wow, delicious wine - sweet and rich, perhaps a bit too sweet actually but nicely concentrated and lovely Corton character. (NSG)

Terroirs de Corton - Les Grands Jours (Corton Burgundy): Wine tasting. Sensational aromatics show an array of cherry aromas with lots of spice, pepper and fresh herbs. Good balance, this has some of everything. Very good flavors, just slightly shorter than I recall from last month.
