This is an exceptional Grand Cru Chablis, and could go head to head with a Cru Raveneau or Dauvissat. This has a classic profile with crushed stone, lemon, and seashore notes. It is perfect from the beginning to the end. This still has upside ahead of it, and a structure to last for many years. 96+

Best white of the year until now! What a wine! Quintessential Chablis with wet stone, crushed rock, various shades of lemon, saline, oysters, flint, firestone. High acidity and a very long, lingering finish
At 14 years fresh as a daisy. Under Diam 10

France Planning Dinner & Burgs (Bucheron, MPls): Pale green-gold color. Drank a glass over an hour. This was riveting; intense nose, steely, and precise. The nose explodes fromt he glass in a burst of citrus, stelly minerality, lemon blossom, and green apple. The palate is focused and mineral driven with a great streak of acid and citrus fruit with those green orchard fruit underotnes; focused and elegant this shows immense class and presence. Long, long, long. Loved it.

Pale greenish yellow color. On the palate iodine, citrus, white pepper. It has an enormous length. A short decant is beneficial as usual with Fèvre wines, due to the DIAM corks that are pretty hermetic. This wine can go on for long years.

An easy entry on a gentler Les Clos that, while by no means an acid bomb, carries its lemon and limestone on a lighter weight frame for a Grand Cru, given some presence by a not quite creamy creaminess. (Yeah, I'm a real word smith!). This was lovely and had some orchard fruit in the background, a finish with the sea on it, and a nice finesse.

Perfumed and delicious Chablis aromas with lemon, orange and sea shore. After a while some oak/vanilla. Intense, light weighted and extremely elegant on the palate.

Bright green, taught, kiwi, lemon, juicy, salty, tasty but seemingly very young (did not know this turned out to be a 2010). med. body, quite tart and juicy. Thought it was a younger brighter 1er cru. 4th place /13 overall. DD, Capital Seafood BH
3 days later: youthful, chalk, lemon-lime, med rich body, silky, intense and taught with bright acidity. This benefited from a little stay in the fridge! 93

Light gold. Forward lemon, lime nose. The palate is balanced, clean, focused. The acidity is in perfect balance with the fruit. It almost feels like it is Puligny, not Chablis. Long elegant finish. So enjoyable now. I do not think this is getting any better.

DIAM cork. Drank alongside the 2010 Preuses. Wow both of these are insanely youthful. So wonderful to drink 13 year old white burgundy and have them fresh as a daisy. Floral, salty, crisp citrus and loads of energy and minerality. These can easily go another 20 years at this rate. Outstanding. 93+

Tasted next to 2011 J-P & B Droin Les Clos GC. Paler in colour, at first less expressive on the nose. Lots of minerality, sea spray, oyster-shell. Very clean, lots of depth, vibrant and very long. Excellent. 92-94

Annual Tasting Group Holiday Party (St. Genevieve, Mpls, MN): Small taste. Glad to get this given it was the missing link in our recent 2010 Fevre GCC tasting. Outstanding; crystalline minerality, long, vigorous, lemon, Haralson apple, lemon oil, deep and full, Fevre earth, hints of peach.

Not bad but certainly not worth Les Clos 2010. I no longer bother to buy W. Fevre anymore as it is very attractive in its first 4 years and then it is nose diving. Well... almost, I maybe a bit tough here but disappointment is real. Don't wait with these as they are much more enjoyable with their baby fat. Cheers,

A tasting of three grand crus (clos, preuses, vaudesir 2010) and two 1er crus (montee de tonnere and vaulorent 2012). This is still too young. This is the most open of all the wines in the tasting, surprisingly enough. Green apples, lime, licorice, a hint of chalk and oysters. Full bodied attack, lot of dry stuff on the mid palate, tons of chalk and oysters on the aftertaste, combined with green apples and lime. At the end there is a fascinating tone of licorice that lingers for a long time. A very serious wine that is just in the first phase of its drinkability. Keep for at least five more years.

This is one of the best Chablis I've tried in years. Beautifully balanced with notes of green apple, citrus, sea foam, minerals and nice acidity with long finish. Paired wonderfully with grilled swordfish.

Good but didn't ring any bells. Drank with a good friend and very experienced somm who shared the same opinion. To state the obvious, Raveneau and Dauvissat are at another level. IMHO the ratings by Burghound, Jancis and Gilman are for too praiseworthy.

93++ pts

Tasted blind, this isn't so much unappealing as it is odd. There's a lot of green apple with verbena and lemongrass. Eccentric is a good word. This is on its plateau of maturity; I doubt it will improve but should last.

Pale yellow. After 3 hours open it smells of brioche, lemon, flowers. Feels lemony, waxy, so fresh, perhaps some barrel, crisp to the end of the long finish. Plays well with oysters.

Light golden color; fully mature nose and palate. While it’s probably just over the crest of the hill, some expecting this to show more youthful character would be disappointed. My 3rd of 3 bottles, I was expecting an amazing experience (and I enjoy mature white burgundy). Excellent mature Chardonnay but if tasted blind, would not have said Chablis Les Clos. My previous bottles showed too undeveloped 4 and 6 years ago. Perhaps an off bottle but I recommend checking in on yours!

Mostly Whites at Martina (Martina, Mpls): Ultra pale gold color. PNP, drank a glass plus over 2 hours. Brilliant nose, riveting, with Meyer lemon, lime blossoms, sea spray, Fevre earth, saline, sweet flowers, white pepper and spice. This is so elegant, flashy but not flamboyant; with such lovely purity to the ocean minerality and citrus driven fruits of Meyer lemon and lime to sends you off to a special place where you can revel in its glory. Just a pristine nose and palate with impressive lift and impeccable balance. Wonderful, probably hitting prime time now with many years left.

At the beginning of its drinking window and needing at this stage a few hours of aeration, this is a powerhouse of a wine. Lemon and crushed stone are prominent on the nose and palate. The balance is unwavering and the finish is exceptional. This is highly enjoyable now, but it is just going to keep getting better. 96+

Brought to a BYOB restaurant for a serious birthday dinner of lobster - 2.5 pounders per person! Was only able to slo-ox this wine for about 20 minutes, which is definitely not enough air time. The wine improved with each glass (short pours) as it took on body, and intensified its treasures. After about 60 minutes this was a medium plus bodied wine with plenty of lemon, and a fair dose of stony minerality, along with some white flowers and green apple. Wonderful palate cleansing acidity. One of our favorite Chablis at this price point, and a really nice wine -- when it's not oxidized. Should hold for several years, but why wait -- and remember to air it out.

Pnp, very light yellow, white floral nose with spice and hint of minerals. Concentrated on palate, sweet and mild acidic, still very young, there is no sense of oxidative aroma, minerals but hardly overwhelming, more feminine than a typical Les Clos. Perhaps need more time lying down?

A Great Day for Chardonnay: Placed in jars for transport and consumed 2+ hours later. This was a surprise for me. I guessed it was Chablis, but did not think it was the Les Clos because it seemed somehow lacking a bit of everything...I mean everything was there, just not as stated as I would have thought. Showed citrus notes, saline, oyster shell, and hints of toasted oak (but had to really look for it). It is possible this just suffered from comparison to the bigger wines. This wine was definitely more elegant, dare I say "feminine" than the others. I liked it, but I expected more from a 2010 Fevre. 90 for this bottle, and I hope it was bottle variation, although nothing seemed flawed. Also, may have enjoyed it even more if it was the only Chardonnay I was drinking. #5 for me, group had it #3.

Virtual Single Blind Chards (Home): Pale gold color. Drank a glass plus single blind over 3 hours. Oyster shell nose , steely with sea spray, lemon, white apple and mineral. The palate is taut and somewhat coiled, lemon, Meyer lemon, ocean, saline, white apple, very elegant. This got better and better in glass developing more intensity and becoming more lemon and mineral driven. Not the best bottle of the '10 Les Clos by a long margin, but totally intact and delicious nonetheless. This lacked the deep earthiness and salinity that is more typical. Clearly a Chablis, but I thought the Moreau more likely. My #3 WOTN. 93 to 93+pts.

94-95+ pts

Beautiful wine. Pale gold color. A bit restrained at first but opened up after 30 minutes or so. Super elegant and less showy than some of the other 2010 grand crus, but this was still a treat with PS Steak's crab cakes and crab toast. Just a point behind Candie's 2006 Comtes de Champagne BdB for my WOTN.
94-95 pts

Simply stunning. A very youthful medium yellow, nose is mineral/stone, with citrus pith back notes. Impeccably balanced, explodes across the palate with stony citrus and a mouth-watering acidity that really fires the salivary glands, leading to a long, chalk-dusty finish that lingers long. The palate also has some breadth and heft, with some leesy notes and a generous mid-palate fullness, while the overall impression is one of elegance and lightness. Really super wine. Based on this bottle, no rush at all.
Wow! Drinking extraordinarily well tonight. Very faint golden yellow color. Nose had notes of tart apple, pear and lemon. Mouthfeel is so elegant. Slightly acidic with a noticeable silkiness that provides for wonderful drinking. Paired with a Costco rotisserie chicken and braised broccolini side. I’m going to drink the whole bottle myself!

Some Fine Older Bordeaux and Cabs (Capitalle Grille, Mpls, MN): Light to pale green color. Drank 1 glass over 45 minutes. We've had this a few times now recently, and while it is always a head turner, I wasn't feeling it quite to the extent that I have at others times. Might have been the setting with the focus being on the old reds and it being in a steak house. Still outstanding and fun to drink side by side with the '11. This has that laser focus and cut, crisp and tart with great minerality and lemon lime fruits. I maybe didn't get as much of the ocean, earthiness that I adore. 94+pts.

Pizza Night with Aged Classic Reds Ten Plus Years Old (Rocknroller's (Kevin's)): Pale green color. Drank 1 glass over an hour. Just another stunning bottle of 2010 Fevre Les Clos. These are stellar. Same bottle as Chablis28 and his description is spot on and consistent with my note from 4/23/17. These really offer everything one could want in Chablis; the bright fruit of 2010 with gobs of lively green fruits, refined ocean air and seashore wind swept minerality with pleasing acidity to frame this wonder. These are so crisp and energetic that it invigorates the palate as the finish just goes on and on. Thanks to Gary for this gem. 95+ to 96pts.

A fine showing, full of mineral and ocean effects. A somewhat lighter impact on the palate, with not much more than medium acidity, and sneaky persistence on the finish. Gained complexity as it warmed, and overall showed it's excellence. Seemed a good time to drink, though wouldn't have minded a tad more of the intensity it showed in its youth.

Monthly Tasting Group: Worldwide Chardonnay with Blast of Chablis (Oceanaire, Mpls, MN): Pale greenish color. Drank 1+ glass over an hour. In a word, Brilliant. This was absolutely intense, stunning depth and purity, the Chablis character is so, so evident and the telltale earthy, seashore depth from Le Clos and in particular Fevre. This was a head turner immediately and amongst several other extremely good Chablis tonight, it stole the show. No surprise for me given the love I have for this vintage and this really solidifies it further. A beautiful mix of green and orange citrus fruits, laced with such energy and lift, floral, bright, long and captivating. Chablis28 has a good note on this too. It was a night with a boatload of very good chardonnays from Chablis, white Burgundy, CA and even Oregon. So many very very good wines that it was hard to keep them straight as nothing was jumping out of the pack. And then, this shows up and clears the field. Shouldering out every other btl I tasted tonight by a decent margin. Pale green tinged gold color. Intensely fresh floral aromas with classic Chablis notes of salinity, mineral, lime and iodine. Stunning precision and yet a lifted richness. Head you over the head Grand Cru concentration and power. Mouth coating, long and intense. This is one of those rare, wow you, head turners. One of the most complete Chablis I've ever tasted. Balance, class and power in spades. Loved it and, easily, my WOTN. I didn't get much of a pour but, even still, this was obviously the class of the evening. Thanks Gary! Wish this could be had a decent price but WS Pro shows maybe one retailer at a crazy $200.
4- J. Moreau.
5-Simonnet-Febvre.

Not quite as focused as my previous bottle. Less citrus and salinity. Instead, there is a riper profile of orchard fruits and even some guava-like tropical notes. Wears the warmer vintage on its sleeve. This lives up to its appellation, showing a full body, good density and a polished mouthfeel. Nothing wrong with the bottle at all, just lacks the zip, verve and apparent acidity of my earlier bottle. Perhaps going through a bit of a phase...? Very good, nevertheless.

Mainly Burgundies at Cathy and Mike's pre-Christmas lunch (Kelburn, Wellington): My wine showed some sulphur on the nose, with passionfruit, rock melon and baking spices, also a hint of clotted cream. In the mouth, very rich, ripe and voluptuous, with plenty of orchard and exotic fruit flavours. Not however, to me anyway, overdone. Weighty, muscular and, someone said, almost entirely horizontal in its profile. It does have good acidity to keep it in balance. Drinking the last glass the next day it had not fallen over, showing smokiness and even more tropical fruit nuances. However, I'd be looking to drink bottles of these Fèvres in the next few years.

Wow, what a disappointment. There is absolutely nothing in this wine to suggest Grand Cru, let alone Clos, from a supposed top year from a supposed top producer. It is a down-the-middle, correct Chablis, adequately fresh but lacking the focus, intensity, cut, or gravitas I'd expect from a wine of this caliber. Blind, I'd guess this to be a very decent but otherwise unremarkable $25-$30 Premier Cru.

Fevre has developed a horrible reputation for pre mox, and deservedly, so I don't hold these very long anymore. Although, I did have a solid 2004 two months ago, a year where I have had some much earlier tragedies. This tonight is very good, but lacks the cut and pizzaz of say, a dauvisset. I see absolutely no reason to flirt with disaster because this wine ain't gonna get better in your cellar. Drink up.

Straw coloured. Wonderful top shelf Chablis. An engaging bouquet of white flowers, lime, grapefruit, passion fruit and riper notes of apple and just a little honey. This is big on the palate, clearly grand cru. The cool citrus fruit accompanies plenty of rocky, chalky material and salinity, which provides ample structure. There is a towering richness on the palate that is balanced by a minerally acidity. Excellent balance and length. Really fantastic. The fruit is vibrant and fresh and this is drinking really well with an hour of air. Absolutely no rush though.

Pretty cut flowers, white and yellow fruit, seawater nose. Primary and closed on the palate -- yellow fruit and a big block of stone. Tasted over two days, long decant, this just never got going. Because this is a baby. First bottle from a six pack, simply an experiment, I'd recommend letting this one sleep until at least 2016-2017, 2020 more realistic. This one is a coy flirt. We shall see. Surprised that this was not showing more.

PnP, served non-blind. Offers up a good sense of place, and variety, but the fruit expression is rather tightly coiled at this point; we should have aerated to decanter immediately. The fact that this followed (for me) a 1990 Château Carbonnieux Blanc did help matters. Shows all the stuffing any wine of this caliber and zip code should, and I can only hope that a wine showing as much beauty and promise as this doesn't fall to premox before it reaches its full expression. A joy to behold now, even better with more rest. highly recommended

Fairly muted nose, but smells like Chardonnay. Thankfully, it drinks like top shelf Chablis. Not the searing acidity I was expecting, it's more medium plus and well integrated. Still a fair amount of new wood flavors but it doesn't detract much from the gorgeous, chalky fruit. 93-94+

Colour: Transparent, clear light yellow. Nose: After almost two hours of air in a decanter, the wine is slowly waking up with a scent of incredibly fresh and complex floral fragrances, imposingly pure citrus fruits and extremely fine tuned burned, vibrating lime minerals. An impressive delicate and complex nose indeed! Taste: The mid palate offers extremely pure aromas of lime, impressive deep layers of fresh citrus fruits, passion fruit, apricot, dried honey, roasted almond, shale stone, fresh balsamic notes and elegant fine tuned burned minerals. A very fresh and crispy acidity is building the structure to the intense, extraordinary long lingering finish. The wine literally takes a hold of you with a firm grip and lead you into a wonderful dance to beautiful music. It is surprisingly powerful for a chablis in a very good way. And above all this its balance is sensational.
Wow, I am in love with this wine! This wine makes you fumble after expressive words, but I was blown away by its purity, freshness, complexity and balance. The wine is simply so enchanting that you just want to spend hours with it as it continues to firing off long, pure, super-fresh, rich, elusive, but lovely, flavours and all this at a sensational balance. And it is just a baby! A truly complete wine and monumental achievement of Didier and his crew! I definitely need to buy more bottles before they run out, especially from this vintage.
Make sure to decant this for almost two hours before anything happens, since it is very closed in the beginning. Then cool it down to 11-12 degrees C.

Nose: Pineapple, minerals, some citrus, floral and after a few hours peaches enters the pallet. Taste: Minerals, some soft honey taste in the background, very crisp acidity but still surprisingly full bodied. Finish: A very pleasant finish driven by the acidity. Summary: This is a complex wine which needs several years to develop before the full potential is reached. You want to spend several hours exploring this fantastic wine.

very light color, absolutely awesome on the pnp (30 minute decant), grt acid with sweet and salty profile (like lemon custard with a sprinkle of seasalt on top), fruit was up front and showing really nicely, citrus all the way, with good minerality for the one two punch, on day two the minerals were in front and the lanolin had shown up... liked it better on day one... many say needs time but i'd drink right out of bottle based on this tasting

PopnPour, tasted over 3 hrs and Day 2 -translucent pale yellow-green -matchstick, lemon, sea water -med acidity provides just enough cut, balances power and elegance, moderately complex sappy, long haunting finish; more complex complete and interesting on Day 2 -young but fantastic now, WIN!

While you'd have to be a dummy to make 'bad' wine in Chablis in 2010, Fevre is clearly on an upswing in the last few years.
Once the So2 blows off, the apples, flint, lime, wax and lanolin (almost faint chamomile?) come through. A little lactic quality followed by some confectionery sweetness and a touch of wood. Aromas repeat on the palate. This is downright chewy right now even with its chiseled, pure persistence. Really marvelous and should be gorgeous and full of flint in a few years. Wow.

Pale yellow. Nose is very forward, pears, anise, smoke and lemon. It is likewise forward on the palate with all of the fruit and enought acid to balance the concentrated flavours and sweet sensation. Very long finish. Still has slight wiff of SO2. Excellent, already.

night one, nose was tight on opening but within 30 minutes i got the lovely lemon scents with a touch of oak, palate however wasn't lemony - big disappointment as i love lemon and saw all the other comments on it, i got more wax, lanolin, minerals with little fruit and a little oak on the palate... hoping night two will deliver, update to come

Visiting Domaine William Fèvre (Chablis, Burgundy, France): At this moment this is almost completely closed, whereas most of the other Fevre 2010s are at least a little approachable. Others have said that the nose opens after some decanting but sadly there wasn't a possibility for that this time. Very powerful, concentrated and structured. Could well emerge as a beauty as time passes, I'd like to taste again from 2018 onwards.

The best Les Clos I have had - which for me means the best chard I have had. I don't need to go in to detail on the notes, but after the SO2 blew off, the oak faded as it warmed and this was just in perfect harmony.

Wow! Really pale looking in the glass, but what a nose! Bags of citrus notes and a whole lot more going on. On the palate it has extraordinary intensity and complexity and a finish that goes on and on. This is a wine that combines power and elegance, the concentrated flavours beautifully balanced by the fresh acidity. Absolutely wonderful and with some bottle age I can see my score being conservative. Estimated maturity: 2016+

The nose shows more reserve verus the 2010 Domaine William Fèvre Chablis lineup tasted just prior, but what there is is excellent. Rich and vibrant, so nice - classic Chablis on the rich end of the spectrum, lemony and deep flavor.

The nose explodes fromt he glass in a burst of citrus, stelly minerality, lemon blossom, and green apple. The palate is focused and mineral driven with a great streak of acid and citrus fruit with those green orchard fruit underotnes; focused and elegant this shows immense class and presence.

93++ pts

Splash decanted and followed over about 1hr and some. Very very nice bouquet of citrus, stoney rock, and a touch of woody notes.
The mouth was so driven, mineral, yeth with excellent complexity and layers. The pallet was all-encompassing, consistent with nose. So long!

The nose was very elegant with hints of citrus zest, iodine and shellfish. This rich and round medium bodied wine possessed a silky mouth feel with a hint of wood and a very long finish. I opened a bottle from the same case earlier last year and the wine seems to continue to evolve. An excellent bottle of wine with a future.

Wow.
