Here we are in July 2018 and at current count this Justin Cab has 236 tasting notes on CT so there's not much more to be said. A celler find after 6 years on hand, I'd rate it an 87 to 89 currently and can confirm that the nose still has violet notes and that the fruit isn't all gone yet. Certainly there was some percentage of Syrah blended in which seems to have moved up to equal the Cabernet Sauvignon profile (or the Cab profile has declined to meet.) A rather linear mid-palate with dark fruit and a bit tight and peppery on the finish which is not long.
Since this Cab is currently pretending to be a Syrah, you might as well drink a real Syrah for less money if you haven't bought this Cab already -- check out my Tasting Note on the 2014 Klinker Brick Farráh Syrah which I think is a steal at the price ($12-$18 on discount).

- Brick color with slow forming legs and aromas of black currant, blackberry and cherry. It's balanced with a medium/full body. Polished texture with a medium finish - Great wine. It now has a great tannin to fruit balance. Nice mouth feel. Earthy with black currant, blackberry, and cherry. Medium-long finish.

Bright fruit hinting cherry on the nose. This has become a wonderfully soft cab with a well rounded mouthfeel. Dark plum, berry, clove and other spices on the middle and through the finish. Wonderful wine.

Nose is different has that musty meaty Syrah nose some dark fruit a lot of leather. Soft tannins some fruit and earthiness on the tongue Finnish is quick It's okay really not special Works in a pinch but I would not go out of my way for this 24 dollar bottle. Not sure about all the 90 scores but hey that is my view.

Fruity nose. The flavour is moderately strong. Black fruit, slight leather, hint of vanilla bean, oak. Nice detectable but smooth tannins. Just a tiny bit strong for an Ashton Connecticut (light colour and flavour, smooth, vanilla) cigar, but still delicious. Might go better with a robusto. Will have some with steak later. $14 for a half bottle. Decent value.

Very approachable, with lots of luscious red fruit, sandalwood, graphite, and violets on the nose. Paso flavors of cherries, red currants, raspberries, minerals, and walnut shell. This is really fresh, balanced, and smooth, picking up more sandalwood complexity on the finish.

This is really awful stuff. I can't believe the price this junk sells at. Glad I only paid $6 for it.
Artificially ripe, and sill shows that ugly cab bell pepper note that is so prominent from Sonoma cabs. Bottom of the glass clearly shows the grape must additive that many producers add to help achieve that 90 point style that is so critical to businesses.
Cheap but good. I liked it. Great for the price, I would drink it again. Ordered it at NYY Steakhouse. The wine looks purple colored. It tastes like cherry. The body is light. The wine has juicy texture. The wine has low acidity.

It was too thin right after opening. It tasted like a cheap Pinot noir mixed with Cabernet. Very disappointed. Had a half glass and put it in the refrigerator. I tried it again next day, and it was a nice surprise! The flavors were all coming together. It was medium body and did not feel thin at all. I tasted nice fruits and the finish was decent. It is good wine for the price point. Had it over 3 days and it was delicious.

Nicole's Annual Wine Tasting - "Paso Robles Reds" (Alexandria, VA): tasted blind in a lineup of 3 Paso Cabs and this was by far the class of the tasting. Smooth and long, this is bursting with flavor. The vanilla is present but stays in the background to complement the deep fruit. At $23 I think this is a real winner.

Justin makes a lot of great wines this Cabernet Sauvignon is not one of their best. It lacks depth although nice flavours of black fruit and slight earthy spice. There have been better years for this wine check out the 2010. Paso Robles is not Napa or Sonoma where my favorite Cabernet Sauvignons come from so I try to not bench mark this wine against either of those places. Justin makes a wonderful Bordeaux style blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, named Isoscles which is over double the price of this Cabernet Sauvignon and worth every penny. Ready to drink now.

Justin has last focus with this Cab. Very acidic, disjointed with nothing in its character or delineation to impress. Bottle age may help but, I think this is just a mass produced average wine.
Characteristic Cabernet aromas of dark fruit, tobacco, w/ earthy notes. Dry, and not overly tannic -- well balanced. Good value and very good drinking experience, overall.
Not their best vintage but a good everyday drinker. As others have noted it is a little greener than past vintages but it smoothed out nicely on the second day.

Popped and poured one night, then finished off a couple nights later. I thought this did come close to having a bit too much grenness in it, but I found the fruit just ripe enough to make it enjoyable. Plum and blackberry, along with a nice complement of tobacco on the palate. I find this to be a great buy, and this is even a supposed down vintage.

I have tasted all vintages since 05 (exc 06), and this is the poorest one I have encountered. I found it to come across as unripe, with green and stemmy flavors and a higher than normal level of acidity and just generally unbalanced. Not the profile of ripe dark fruit in a silky and forward style, and easy drinking like this usually is. Tasted the next evening and no improvement. Will not be purchasing more.

Pretty simple and drinkable wine. With my beginner palate, I can't discern any aromas or flavors to this wine, but it was still ok to drink. It is very light and un-complex? Un-complicated? Un-textured? Not sure the right way to say this, but it was a decent quaff on a normal night with some taco's. Not something I would pull out on an important night.

Disappointing wine from Justin. I've heard of "second" wines, but is this a "third" wine? Paid $22 for this...have had better Cabs for $16. Tannin backbone is absent and the body is syrupy. Not recommended.

Served non-blind at a Justin wine dinner. Very dark ruby toward purple. Aromas of green peppercorn, stem, tobacco leaf and unripe blackberries. Medium bodied, with virtually no mid-palate expression and no real tannic backbone/structure to speak of. Made/manufactured for PnP (cellaring won't make this any better), but not for any real expression of Cabernet Sauvignon, or the growing area. A rather pointless exercise and a really poorly made CS. Thankfully, it was served just above 60F, so any out of place etOh or other unwanted characteristics were fairly neutralized. Completely unforgettable and not worth more than $10-$12, though I'm sure many would appreciate the very casual, easy-drinking experience this provides.
I like the slightly tart, summer berry type fruit, but it's pretty simple, with some of that boring "Cali cab" oak obscuring most of the fruit. With air it gets a little astringent and less plush. An ok wine with a fair amount of make-up. Quite overpriced.

A very pleasurable wine. For the price, it has good complexity and there is a juiciness (with dark berry flavors) that I haven't found in many Cabs, and it is not mouth puckering. Enjoy now!

Beautiful color: deep dark core, lighter and more ruby as you move out to the edge where you reach a light thin clear edge. In the nose dark berries, blueberry and bright fresh dark cherry, little stemmy, cedar. On the palate, med + body, med acid, med tannins an not overly mouth drying. Bursting with juicy dark berry, touch of black licorice, some stemminess. Very balanced wine by my standards.

(Vinturi aerated into decanter 1hr) Nose: Cork pull revealed cigar box and tar notes. When opened it moved to currant, blackberry and a rigid acidity. Mouth: blackberry, blueberry, very subtle spice. I have been reading and hearing a lot about this winery so I expected better. This cab is far too jammy for me personally. It almost seems overdone. Medium tannin. I would like to know what this would taste like with 3-4 more years of aging. The reviewer who said "singular taste profile" hit it right on the head. Its not above me liking it, but I have had better 20 dollar price point cabs.

bright with a medium ruby purple core and light violet rim. The wine looks Ruby colored. The legs are Fast. It smells like Blackberry, Prune, and Mineral. It tastes like Strawberry, and Black currant (cassis). The body is Light/Medium. The wine finishes Medium. A nice 20 dollar price point. A little to fruity for a cab is the down fall. but over all a good wine.

Disappointing wine from Justin. I've heard of "second" wines, but is this a "third" wine? Paid $22 for this...have had better Cabs for $16. Tannin backbone is absent and the body is syrupy. Not recommended.

Bought at Wood Ranch BBQ. Pleasant , but not impressive, fairly light cab, not much to it.

Enjoy now!

A 2011 you can open now and find plenty to enjoy.

Very typical of a Central Coast Cab- bright nose, rich berry front with a medium finish. Very singular in its taste profile. Recommend letting this one rest till late 2013

Had the 2010 and was not impressed.
The 2011 is definitely better, but still a little thin.
