A lush nose of intense blackberry and red berries, with layers of sweet spice and hedgerow. The palate is pure silk, with a glossy mouthfeel and supreme balance. Soft, fresh and suave.

Très beau vin avec un nez très expressif et complexe. Le nez change constamment. Beaucoup de fruits, tomates, café. Même chose en bouche. Tout en fruits et en équilibre. Finale sur de beaux tanins. Belle longueur. Très agréable

PnP and had about half the bottle; sealed in fridge and had the rest 3 nights later. Very good.
Medium dark garnet. Inviting nose with complexity, fresh soil, a pungent herb, some dark fruit, polished leather, dark anise. Good presence on entry, nicely structured, not too tannic but a bit sticky to the cheeks. Finishes with a bit of herbal minty note, surrounded by flavors of ripe and saturated cherries, traces of dark cocoa. Quite lovely on PnP.
Night 4 update: still smells fresh. more leather and dark chocolate, mint and eucalyptus. Quite lovely.

Good stuff. Showing some age at this point. I would’ve guessed it was a little older. Notes of tobacco, tar, earthy, maybe a touch of dark fruit. Slight undertones of floral and herbal aromas, as well as something sweet like papaya or mango(?). Drinking great at this time.

Meh, not as good as expected. Limited in character, but well rounded. Then again, we drank this with brief restaurant aeration only. Assume it never really had the time to open up properly.
We drank Tignanello 2001 and 2014 at the same time. 2014 - Vibrant red fruit, apparent oak aroma, intense, edgy, and still young. I enjoyed the 2001 bottle more. 2001 was very balanced. All aspects of taste were well integrated. At the same time, it maintained a good intensity.

Very nice Italian wine. Loads of dark, red fruits, nice barique taste (although slightly in your face, could be a bit more subtle). Tannins at the end round it off well.

Briefly, decanted for about 3 hours. Great fruit on the nose. On the palate very nicely balanced fruit, a little leather, tobacco, pencil shaving, a little acidity, light tannins, all very smooth. Not tremendously memorable, but excellent nevertheless.

Popped for my birthday celebration. First time trying Tuscan Bordeaux blend. What can I say, from my limited Bordeaux drinking experience, it’s towards Pualliac style. Could be due to the blend ratio. I can taste pencil shaving, oak, leather board and tons of dark fruit and black plum. Pour straight out of my Aveine aerator with 2 and 3 hour setting. 3 hour is the optimal for the right balance of alcohol and acidity. Medium finish though. Will wait for my 2016 to mature before trying again. High expectation.
More complex and balanced than 2 years ago. Less fruit forward. Secondary notes are present. Leather, cigar box, soft wood, dried cherries. Ready to enjoy after a 2 hour decant.

Three years since the previous bottle. The wine has benefited from the cellaring. Now the wine is more complex and balanced. Dark red. Nose with sweet spices. Ripe cherries, honey, pipe tobacco, leather, and wax. Fruit tea. Lively fruit. Palate: Medium tannins. Some oak, licorice, blackberries, leather pants, and ash. Ripe sweet and sour fruit. Cherry compote. Good now, but still has many years ahead of it.

as per my June 2020 note, this is one of the best Tignanello I have drank at this age in terms of freshness, plus adding some earthiness and black and red fruits. I am not sure it will be long aged (TBC) but great drink nexct 5-10 years for sure. good food pairing (better than average Tig) due to the freshness.

Decanted 3.5 hours, with home made pesto and pasta, tossed with king oyster mushrooms. Supple tannins framed with strained carbon and shaved pencils, complementing the earthiness of the dish.

Simply one of the best wines I've ever had. Decanted for an hour. Flavor was dry, smooth, full, and extremely pleasant. Flavor also was long and stayed with you. Paired very well with a strong spaghetti. Loved it, just wish it was more affordable.
From 375mL, one hour decant. I liked this a lot more when I tried it previously in 2018. The nose shows leather, candied cherry notes, and some earthiness. On the palate, the tannins are virtually completely integrated and the fruit is very much the story here. Good acidity, paired well with a tomato meat sauce. I think this is a vintage of Tignanello to drink early, though it should continue to drink well for another 5 years.

quite a meaty, savoury nose. Again savoury on palate intertwined with dark fruit notes. Quite unlike most (if not all) young Tignanellos I have tasted - more refined, distinguished, less oaky. I like it, even though may not be a long ager. Had from coravin at a restaurant so not sure that had any impact but felt in the zone already.

Kinda low profile scents. Not very out there. You almost have to go looking for them and for some reason the alcohol is pretty apparent. Not the case once tasted. Fleshly almost chewy but still juicy. Lots of plums and cherries with a good dose of woody notes. After taste lingers for a bit. Tannins are there but mostly resolved. I don’t think it’s gonna get better with time but the acidity should keep it chugging along for another 5-10 years or so.

Ruby red in color with purple highlights, the 2014 Tignanello shows an intense nose of red fruit with hints of leather and sweet spice. The wine is ample and enveloping on the palate with supple tannins that respect the character and personality of the Sangiovese grape. The finish and aftertaste are of lovely length and persistence.

After a long day of drinking too many wines, this was still excellent, but could not help thinking that the 2016 had a couple of weeks ago was a lot finer and richer. The tannins of this 14 came through a lot harder than in the 2016, where there was such an abundance of concentrated fruits hiding the impressive structure. No rating given tasting conditions.

CNY Wine Night @ Chef Kang: Black fruits, forest floor, black cherries, blue berries, spices. Aromatic. This is still tight tonight though. Keep this away for 3 years at least
Smooth, medium bodied, balanced, good fruit, structured with complex flavors, so smooth and balanced that it is easy to underestimate this wine, would drink again, drank with chicken breast with mushrooms and penne pasta with marinara sauce.

Double decanted on day one. No sediment. Notes taken on day two. Brilliant cherry red color. A restrained but pleasant nose of currants and blueberries. Medium-bodied dark fruit on the palate, well structured by lively acids and tannins. Medium-length finish. Will probably improve over the next few years and still be drinking well for another ten.

No decanting. Colour is not quite garnet, but rather a ripe dark cherry red that has a slight earthy tint to it. The nose is earthy black cherry, blackberry, anise and with time comes lush blueberry preserves. Still young and tight on the entry. Lots of dark purple, blue and black fruits in there (blueberries, blackberries, black currant) together with fresh berry acidity. Also some camphor and black tea. Still a lots of tannins, but they are ripe and only slightly abrasive. The finish is dry, long and packed with juicy dark fruit. This is definitely good stuff but way too young. Give it at least another 4 or 5 years to mellow out and it will be killer!

Tignanello and hence Antinori is the master of consistency. Despite the variety of all the vintages between 2009 and 2014 in Tuscany, Tignanello always tastes the same, year in year out. A fairly modern take on Sangiovese, of course we are taking about a blend here, this is always good but never truly remarkable in my eyes. Good acidity, still a fair bit of oak here , dark fruit, wood spices - what might seem pretty impressive in a mediocre Tuscany vintage like say 2014 or 2009, is not so great in a truly grand vintage like 2010, with many better wines at half the price... I prefer Tignanello around the 10 year mark but overall, yawn...

What a find. Ristorante La Finestra in Siena is selling this in the half bottle at significantly less than you can get it anywhere at retail. Round and robust nose. Dark chocolate, liquorice and vanilla. Slightest rum and raisin hints. Just the faintest Eucalyptus.
Real harmony of fruit on the palette, Cherry, raspberry, ripe green Tuscan plums, secondaries of caramel, blackberry coulis. Elegant and grin-inducing finish. Really surprised at how balanced and easy-drinking this was, even at this young age. It has the structure to go the distance though, it’ll be extraordinary in 5-10 years.

You can see why it is a crowd favourite. The nose is just delicious, with lots of vanilla coming through, nuts, a flowery nose, some cloves and spices, banana. On the palate, lots of rounded vanilla, and sweet black fruit, cherry, almonds, and nuts. Very tasty and well integrated. I would buy this again if it didn’t cost me SGD140. 93 points.

Drank well young and as a pop/pour. Obviously young but full bodied and ripe enough to make it an easy drinker. Cherry chapstick, vanilla, tobacco, plums, and dried earth. Elegant yes but did not seem overly structured to me. Likely something to drink in the next 5 or so years

My first Tignanello. Decanted 2 hours before tasting. Clear, youthful ruby in the glass. Nose of cassis, graphite, white pepper, just a hint of barnyard. Young, round, and buoyant on the palate, red and black plum, licorice, some pie spice. Notably long finish, tannins more integrated than I would have expected given the youth, but this will still be quite a bit better after another 5 years. The 25% cab is really prevalent, to the extent that I'm not sure I would have called out the sangiovese if I'd tasted it blind. Lovely wine, but IMO there's much better value out there if you're willing to part with the brand name.
Obviously too early to Drink it. Nevertheless, the quality shines through. The only knock is it is a little hollow in the mid palate. Maybe it is because of the vintage. In any event, I would recommend cellaring for five years.

So different than the '15 the other night. Doesn't have nearly the nose either......fruit softer, more accessible up front. No detectable cab franc. This wine while 1 year younger feels and tastes 5 years younger. Maybe the Cali junkie in me is more hedonistic than I thought. To me, this is nice but the '15 is more up my alley.

Dark cherry sangiovese. Cola coffee with sour focused grippy tannic purposeful finish. Intellectually substantial rather than exuberant.
Good for a bottle with a friend rather than alone. More serious than I recall. Acidic finish it ok thank to the dark cherry. It means it and has a confident identify rather than apologising.
Bottle on a summer evening outside next to Frankfurt opera..

Winewankers BYO - Blind; 4/14/2018-4/15/2018 (Finna): Dark black red without transition. Nose that opens with butter tones that blows away quickly. Butter is being replaced by ripe dark cherries and hints of honey. Tight structure. Cherry and dark fruit. Short. Must be allowed to lie. Potential.

On the nose; saddle-wood, dark currants/cassis, lavender, violets, candied style; dark cherries, blackberries, plums, strawberries & blue fruit mix. Light sweet tarry notes, leather, tobacco, moist, dark turned earth & limestone minerals. dark cherries, blackberries, plums, strawberries & blue fruit mix.
The body is full and rich. The palate is a beautiful, classic expression of IGT wines from Tuscany. The length, structure, balance & tension are exceptional for such a young wine. Tannins soften, round and a bit chewy. It’s ruby & ripe; dark cherries, blackberries, plums, strawberries & blue fruit mix. Sweet tarry notes, black licorice, touch herbaceous, light smoke, savory meats, nice spice with a slight sting on the long set, saddle-wood, cigar, loamy soils, limestone minerals, crushed rocks, dry stems & leather. The round acidity is beautiful. The long elegant finish is excellent for this wine this young. Drink in the peak window of 2024-2035.

A blend of 75% Sangiovese, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet-Sauvignon. I happily agree with WineStrategies’ tasting note from 25 April 2017 on this one. A wonderfully fragrant, silky and feminine rendition of the Tignanello theme. There is a clear Burgundian elegance to this wine, but the flavours and the tannic structure firmly place this wine in Tuscany. Medium body, flowers, leather, red berries. Elegant, pure, stylish and eminently drinkable at this young age. Drink now - 2024. At Shima Steak, Nihonbashi, Tokyo, Japan.
On a separate note: 96 points from Vinous and 95 from Wine Enthusiast makes you question their palate and/or their integrity. 94 from Suckling is less of an exaggeration than is usual for him and (if I am being charitable) 93 from Parker and Wine Spectator reflects their buoyant, American character. But it’s a nice wine all the same.

This is a beast. So much potential here for the future. Obviously, this is much too young at the moment however it’s still drinking exceptionally. So much fruit here and a very complex flavour profile. I think this is a Tignanello for the ages, potential to last decades here. 90++

Darker purple deeper than expected in the plentiful glass. More modern and elegant feel (I was expecting something a little more rustic) than recent vintages that had higher scores. This is fruit forward and supple through the palate. Finishing with plenty of awakening freshness.
I'd be buying some if I didn't already own a case.
Bought by the glass $25 at Delta lounge JFK. Certainly the highlight of the lounge experience which was otherwise rather a frantic mess.

From a 375ml. Cherries, earth and spice on the nose, medium bodied and after 2 hours nicely integrated and very silky and smooth. Finishes super long with milk chocolate, herbs and spice wrapped with fine grained tannins and acidity. Just a very elegant Super Tuscan expression and would get a higher score if the mid palate was fuller. This is definitely approachable young.

Ending the year with one classic after another. On the repertoire today, Tignanello 2014 found itself drifting about. With certainty, I can say that this is one of my favorite wines on the planet - not because of the colossal brand it is, but because it always brings back the best memories of setting foot into this crazy wine journey. Terroir-driven like no other - you can literally see yourself standing in the middle of a Tuscan forest, smelling the wet soil, freshly dug up truffles, dried cranberry, grounded coffee. The palate strikes you as appetizing - no resistance exists in having a couple of bottles in a row. Creamy texture, giving way to tones of Belgian milk chocolate, bright cherry, a bit of spice, a bit of herbs. Finishes off strong and bold. A true beauty.

Too young. High quality wine, but we'll need to wait at least 5 years to see what this wine can really deliver. Even though 2014 is not a great vintage, the wine has a good tannic structure and is well balanced. Tonight, came second after Flaccianello 2014...as it's often the case:)

So young it is actually slightly purple, but it is lovely and shiny looking. The nose is light and youthful - a dew wet cherry: crunchy and slightly metallic. There is a hint of pepper and orange peel. On the palate it is full of cherry, milk chocolate and actually pretty juicy and crunchy. It is no monolith. It is supple, agile and medium bodied. There is a hint of bitterness to the fruit and the finish is more an expression of sourness than a kiss of silky fruit and tannin. At half the price it would be very good. As it is, it is certainly no disaster given the vintage. Very well made and with enough acidity and fruit to go for 10-15 years.

Youthful, cabby nose. Cassis, green bell pepper, dark cherry, cedar wood, lots of expensive oak, coffee and tobacco. Rather square and predictable nose.
Full bodied with medium(+) acidity and medium(+), a bit green, tannins. To me this is a bit rugged and disjointed today and needs several years for the oak to integrate. No doubt about the high quality here and probably worth it's price if you like the style.

Tasted at lunch at Osteria di Passignano after tour of the cellar at Badia a Passiagno . Dark color. Cherry fruit, spice, tobacco, leather. Silky tannins. Despite the rain for most of the region in 2014, the vineyards used for Tignanello were mostly spared, and Antinori was still able to make a quality wine.

Marvelous effort in an otherwise really challenging vintage. The amount of work and attention that went into the raising of these winegrapes are rewarded by as much care and attention in the cellar. This is Tignanello at its core, and, as usual, it's also the vintage, or rather, the best parts of the vintage. A great success, and a wine that can be enjoyed now or in ten years. Med>full-bodied, red fruit, leather, plenty of soil and floral character. A nice drop, and totally in my wheelhouse; give it an hour or two of air in decanter. recommended
Winebar [2 Whites & 7 Reds] from 04/14/17: "...bottled only in favorable vintages..." & aged "14-16 mos in FR & Hungarian oak barrels, some new & others already used once previously. Í munni: Sýruríkt. Grænir tónar. Stutt bragð. Sítrus, greip. Lakkrís í eftirbragði. Þægilegt en farið að dala. Ekki eins gott eins og á laugardagskvöld.

Double decanted on day one. No sediment. Notes taken on day two. Brilliant cherry red color. A restrained but pleasant nose of currants and blueberries.

Good for a bottle with a friend rather than alone. More serious than I recall. Acidic finish it ok thank to the dark cherry. It means it and has a confident identify rather than apologising.

Cruise ship tasting: very deep garnet color; cigar box, classy, spice box with hints of rosemary; 1 hour later gamut including mushrooms and chocolate covered cherries, rich and elegant. Really nice but needs time.

Nose of plums and oak. Great balance, soft and supple yet full bodied. Oak, Blackberries and a hint of licorice.

Clear, deep intensity, ruby color.

Cherry, tobacco, leather, earthy tones. PNP Wine is young but already drinking incredible. Medium bodied, soft tannins. Quality wine as expected. Planning on buying a few to cellar.

Ruby with watery ruby rim; nose of riding boots, tar, menthol, ripe cherries, and baking spices; palate follows nose with more fruit and less tannins than expected; medium plus mouthfeel with decent finish; opened up after an hour of decanting; high price point, but worth it for the leathery nose

I have tasted every vintage since 2007. This is a typical strong vintage for the wine.

Deep and dark ruby red. Lovely nose with tons of dark and sweet spice with a damp forest floor. Heavy tannins (7.5/10) and full bodied. Powerful flavors of earthiness, cocoa, cherries, leather and crushed gravels. Dry and long finish. Drink till 2034.

Once again, just terrific. Remarkably mature and approachable for its age. Drinkable now, and probably for another 15+ years.

Drank from a 375ml. Tasted much more aged than it is. Fantastic. Earth, tobacco, leather. Great stuff held up beautifully with a big ol' steak.

The various lots, fermented & aged variety by variety, were then blended together a few mos before being bottled." Supposedly "only" 75% Sangiovese, meaning > "normal" with the Bordeaux vars; 5.000 cs imported. 13.5% ABV
N: Slightly closed; Smoke, berries; Intensity lurking?
P: MF body; Almost swtish frt nicely balanced by acidity, which slowly & SEAMLESSLY morphs into a LONG, SOMEWHAT tangy finish with ult almost a swtness. BEAUTIFULLY & ELEGANTLY done, this DESERVES cellaring until from mid-'19 to mid-20, I'm guessing, then drinking into the mid 2020's? 96 pts Vinous, 95 WE @ $110, 94 Suckling, and 93 ea Wine & Spirits, WA, & WS.
