Seems to have fallen apart a bit. Fruit is more muted than I remember. Still decent, with a smooth glycerin-filled mid palate, tapering off to a light finish. Glad it's my last bottle. Drink up if you got 'em.

I still have a half case of this, but will be drinking up soon as this has evolved quickly (relative to other wines) and I can't see it improving much from here. I find this to be Burgundian in character, light with a lifted nose. A bit of funk; Earthy, leathery, mushroomy...delicious!

Tasted blind at TIARI Deux in Aurora. This started out with a greenish nose along with some raspberries and wood from oak barrels. The oak on the nose came out a lot more after about an hour coupled with some black pepper notes. On the pallet there was nice sweet oak along with red fruit - absolutely delicious. This also had some tannins to suggest that it could last quite a few more years, although i am not sure it will get any better. I initially thought this was a Bordeaux blend but later though this might be a Cali Cab. Fantastic wine for the price. (91-92 points)

I am quite sad that this is my last bottle of the 2005. The community and Parker both have this listed as past the drinking window. I can tell you for certain that for bottles stored properly, 55-58 deg F since release, it is perfectly mature and beautiful! The color is a deep garnet. Kirsch liqeur, pepper, spice and salt water on the nose integrated with dark fruits. Perfectly balanced with the 14% alcohol not standing out at this age. Absolutely amazing for the price!
WELL DONE!

This wine gets better every time I taste it. This time, it showed a bit more depth. The kirsch liqueur and black fruit seem multiplied in this bottle. Tough to get more pleasure per dollar than this @ around $10-12.

Dark Garnet. Full bodied but smooth as silk. This is definitely a baby Chateauneuf Du Pape. Striking kirsch liqueur, spice, and pepper backed by very well balanced red and black fruit. I love this wine and completely disagree with the drinking window of the community. It is just entering its plateau of maturity. DELICIOUS!!!!
Wish I had more.

Notes taken about 30 minutes after opening. Nose had some initial barnyard funkiness that has mostly blown off. The nose now has a fair amount of earthiness, some asphalt and graphite notes. Not much fruit to speak of. The palate is similar, as mentioned in a previous note there is a hint of tingle on the tongue, suggesting secondary fermentation. There is some plum coming through the earthy graphite components and some tannins on the finish.
Not bad, paired well with lasagna.

Notes taken about 30 minutes after opening. Nose has earthy notes and a hint of rubber, along with some ripe plum. The initial palate is showing the slightest touch of secondary fermentation tingle, followed by some plum, earth and a touch of oak and some soft tannins on the finish.
It's been about a year and a half since opening a bottle, it has lost some of its awkwardness from the previous bottle, a decent wine at this price point.

Nice nose with slight barnyard but also liquid fruits and stems, which become fuller and more tarry with time. On the palate earthy fruit with plummy, garrigue, leather and slight minerality. Extremely smooth and well integrated after ~30 min in the glass, good roasted fruit and veggies on the finish. My last bottle from a great case of 2005 vintage and one of the best bottles. 89-90

Even decanteren.

Still quite an enjoyable wine. Not close to being over the hill, but definitely doesn't need any more cellar time. Surprised that this hadn't picked up more earthy, tertiary flavors, still a very fruity, sweet CdR. Some of the barnyard actually has decreased from last bottle. Sweet, fruity, and yummy, but a little bit of the bloom has fallen off the rose.

Drinking really well now. Rich red fruit with a hint of herbs and spice on the nose. In the mouth, it is very smooth with tons of ripe berry fruit. It will be interesting to follow this wine over the next 3-4 years as it develops into a more nuanced wine. A great QPR!

This has come back from the dead. Slight bricking. Delicious red and blue fruits on the nose, with some spicebox cinnamon and nutmeg, garrigue. A little vanilla. Sweet attack, with smooth mouthfeel. Still super fruity, with nice crisp berry acidity and still loads of tannins. I think this has way more life to it than people generally give it - easy another few years in bottle. I think that this is super delicious now, but with even more time the sweet fruits may back off a bit and tertiary flavors may give this wine a whole new dimension.

Some bricking at the rim. Fully integrated, pleasant nose, palate is smooth with pepper, red/black fruits and flowers. Medium body with short finish, but very pleasant 88-89. Only 2 left from the case...

Ruby red. Nose of garrigue and anise with some loverly lavender high notes. Does remind on of Smith Bros. cough drops w/ a hint of "medicinal" quality to it. Wine is balanced if a bit tart. Decent finish.

Probably at its peak right now, gamey and spicy nose with nice fresh red fruits nose (raspberry and a touch of blackberry). Med body, balance with mild acidity, smooth tannin and round, palate matching the nose. Overall a nice wine, fresh anad balanced, showing nicely both its grenache and syrah components.

Lange afdronk. Heerlijk glas. Algemeen / potentieel: Volgens Parker 'the finest estate in the Ventoux'. Maar 92 punten…. ??? 50 + Kleur: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 11 + Smaak / Afdronk: 16 + Algemeen / potentieel: 6 = 88/100

This wine never disappoints. Nice nose of smoky cherries with floral overtones after some time in a glass. Medium body, cherries, cranberries, some slight meatiness and strong minerality, spice and pepper showing up on the finish, good acidity, juicy. This is better integrated than the previous bottles. On the second and third night more meat and green peppers and showed imporvement by night 4!, but again it was the best an hour after opening.88+

70/30 Grenache/Syrah. Moderate funky reduction clears after a couple of minutes with copper. Grenache dominates aroma with sweet floral cranberry and minor earth. The fruit is interesting, not overly complex, but clean and really nice. The palate is light/medium, round, with a long silky mid-palate and lingering finish. Ripe, classy, reserved, everything in its place, for a very good overall impression. Enjoy now. Delivers more enjoyment than score indicates.

A very nice wine. Very dark color, beautiful nose of dark berries, a just right touch of barn yard, to make it interesting. Very supple and round texture, generous amount of ripe dark berries and spice and other interesting elements which would come out with time. A wine 'Gourmand' as the french would call it. I would recommend this wine to be served slightly on a fresh side.

Popped and poured. As with other notes, this bottle has an interesting nose. User Misfit noted dirty diaper and band aids. I'm picking up both, and maybe a burnt rubber component.
30 minutes later the nasties have blown off. There are some burnt notes similar to a burnt campfire marshmallow, and a little fruit.
Strong forest floor & oak on the palate, sour cherry, acidic tannins on the finish. Not as good as the last bottle, will give it a while before another is opened.

hint of pine and serious dirty diaper on the nose, also band aids; strong tannins on back palate until it opened up more; became quite smooth; taste of wood (not committed to oak, perhaps pine?) and wild cherry luden's cough drops

More impressed this go around. Nose started as black cherry Kool-Aid with some strong forest floor. After a while open then in the glass the nose turns toward some raspberry, a bit of mushroom, and some full spicy blue fruit jam. Palate brings the fruits in a nice body that eventually ends with a pretty velvety feel & some good, slightly bitter tannins. The nose was stronger early on, but was still just as good as it opened up. I'll take the trade off for the better mouthfeel & flavors that came through with air.

I guess my expectations were too high, but this was still a good wine. Lots of acid at first so it would be great with food. I had it alone and it was a bit tart at first, but improved with air. I agree with others that said it was a light wine. I was expecting something a bit bigger, but for $11 how can you be disappointed?

Medium bodied, focused fruit with plum, red cherry and current taking the lead. The oak is integrated very nicely and sits soundly in the background with a real smokey cured meat note. These Pesquie wines are the best Ventoux wines ive had. I finished the bottle up the next night and it had little to no negative oxidative flavors. Drinking very well now but will drink very nicely through to 2015 Outstanding Quality

Nice light style, not too full bodied at all. However, it was far too acidic for my tastes, and the acidity overwhelmed the bright red fruit flavors and hints of earthiness.

Budget wines done Blind (Keith's house): Surprised at this. Dirty, somewhat crappy (in the literal sense) & fakeish cherry nose. Light flavor of cherry candy up front & through the mid. Finish has the cherry, touches of earthiness, some interesting acid, and a little alcohol. Fairly polished in the mouth.

QPR Smackdown (my place): nose: at first there were some intriguing notes of earthen tones, red cherries, and bits of dill, but with more time in the glass, it almost turned into a non-descript new worldish nose of various red fruits and some jolly rancher-esque tones. There just wasn't much going on with this that was interesting
taste: simple candied fruit that was more surface then anything else with some red fruits and fake candied jolly rancher type fruits
overall: a good wine, but there were no discernable tannins and little acidity and a semi fake aspect to this. Its put together well and there are nice qualities to it, but there wasn't much that showed off any real region of the world and it was just a good and non-descript win, and led to some dissapointment when revealed as more would've been expected

Not much on the nose for me. Grenache dominates the palate. Cherry, licorice and pepper on a medium-bodied palate. A hint of cedar with some grit on a medium length finish. With some time, the grit goes away, and the finish becomes quite bright almost invoking a sense of "fizz", though that's not really there. While I like this wine, it is not really a style I gravitate to.

Much better than my first bottle. Let's call it bottle variation. Typical Rhone blend although seemed to carry a bit more syrah than grenache. Nice fruit and a good finish. Not quite as good on day 2. Great value and everyday drinker.

Last bottle of the case, and this is really showing some pleasant Rhone characteristics - nothing new to add over previous notes. For the reliability, money and this economy, this is a top 5 pick. Back to the store for more while they still have some left.

Not decanted. Alluring aromas of antique rose, cherry skins, and spice. I was taken at the firm structure here, offering a powerful edge to the snappy cherry fruit. One of the very few wines in this price range that needs 1-3 years to loosen up a bit. The 98 version of this wine was outstanding after 3- 4 years in the cellar.

All I can say is WOW. Smells beautiful...a nice change from the typical cheaper wine...a real sense of effort here. Some barnyard, spices, peppers on the nose. Nice mouthfeel, nice flavours of red fruit and good balance with a nice long finish. Great QPR. Will be buying a case.

Very good but strange wine. First day it is so disjointed making it hard to drink: pepper and alcohol and some spicy strawberries. On the second day it changes into a pleasant, leather and spicy cherries, Rhone style bright, pleasant wine, medium tannins. Score reflects the second night. Decant for many hours. Previous bottle I had was more solid even on the first night.

Very hot and unbalanced at first pour, but after three hours of decanting, this wine opened nicely and, demonstrating powerful red fruit, especially strawberry. Hints of graphite and herb in the background. It was still a little hot, but the fruit was very forward, the tannins very fleshy, and the acidity bright. Overall a great wine for the price. I plan to put down a few bottles and taste over the next six years.

Very off balance and disjointed on day one. I wasn't able to get the last glass until day 3 and it showed much better as some of the heat and strong flavors had mellowed out. It still had plenty of fruit on the nose and palate so perhaps these need to come together in bottle for a period of time.

Popped and poured....simply a GREAT QPR at $11!!! (Happy I bought a case...sad I didn't buy more) A very nice mediium to full bodied wine w/ nice, but not over-the-top, red fruit. Not really my style - fairly thin mouthfeel, sour, tart flavour and short finish. I do see what people are talking about in terms of strawberries and red fruit - but to me it tastes like under-ripe fruit. I prefer more full-bodied, ripe wines. Cork closure.

Ninth bottle of the case, and this seems like it is getting a little better. Decant and pour. More open-knit bouquet I think than previous, with raspberry, strawberry, provencal herbs, licorice, and earth. On the palate the red fruit is prominent, fresh, fleshy and accompanied by spices, licorice and earth. Nice structure without being overbearing. Overall excellent with food or by itself, and still an excellent value.

1st bottle didn't show very well a couple of months back which was just pepper, pepper, pepper!! This bottle was much nicer! MUCH much better than the previous bottle: no sulfur at all. This had good Rhone earthiness, a bit of garrigue, a good kind of rubber note, and raspberry fruit at the core. Lots and lots of pepper. Nicely done, even delightful in comparison to the previous bottle.

Excellent. Comparable profile and at least as good as '04 based on memory, but not ready to say it's better (yet) as this is showing youthfulness from a powerful vintage. Color dirty garnet, medium body. Night 1 was notably tight and firm tannins for the first 2-3 hours in the glass, making me wish I had decanted. Night 2, the nose is still surprisingly restrained, but showing some dark raspberry, strawberry, earth, wood, and a bit of nail polish. Meaty, fleshy red fruit and lots of black pepper on the back of the tongue, medium length, good balance. A-grade pairing with sweet raw pecans. 7 or 8 bottles of the case left, so we'll see how this goes over time. Still an excellent QPR.

Mercaptans, thiol, sulfur, maybe some raspberry in the mouth, and sulfur. After a glass, I put the cork back in and left it for another day, a little doubtful that that much mercaptans can blow off. We'll see tomorrow. If I were to score it now, I'd have to put it in the range of 77-79. Day two, there's less sulfur, but it's only marginally better. 81.

Family Reunion/Birthday Dinner: We worked through three bottles of this while cooking. All were consistent with previous notes. The nose features dark fruit and dried herbs. Very nice wine. First night: the nose was almost beaujolais like with high-toned strawberries and licorice+ secondary floral component. Very juicy medium body, with chewy texture, again some strawberries and sour cherries and occasional meaty smoky component. Medium length juicy finish with medium but pleasant tannins. It is not very complex wine, but it is a great/smooth/enjoyable drink... highly recommended. Second day more of floral elements on the nose and more grenache taste with spicy cherries.

Yet another QPR success for Pesquie. had dinner guests so did not take any formal notes or impressions, but it did not dissappoint.
Give it some air, though, a pop and pour tasted like Welch's grape juice - though the nose out of the gate was layered and interesting with just a slight hint of the farm.

$15. Awesome peppery, herbal Rhone aroma with respectable fruit. Flavor shows great balance, with enough fruit and secondary flavors to stand up to the moderate tannins. A bit of Grenache funk blows off with two hours' air, but I did find the finish slightly vegetal. Still, a definite buy on QPR.

Popped and served. Bright red in color with garnet rim. Nose of black cherries, licorice, dark fruits and hints of garriques. A medium-full bodied wine with suble oak notes with dark fruits, black pepper, and a slight mintiness. Tannins are slightly gripping and finish is moderately lengthed. This could use a bit more time in the bottle to round off the edges.

Unlike the 2004, which needed some time to knit together straight from the bottle, this was singing from the very first glass. Aromatically, and on the full-bodied palate, this is richer and more concentrated in 2005; smoky, herb-infused, dark fruit, with just a touch of grenache sweetness. Fine grained tannin; a well-balanced acidity; and a dry, medium-length finish. Great wine, great value.

There is some plum coming through the earthy graphite components and some tannins on the finish.

Very supple and round texture, generous amount of ripe dark berries and spice and other interesting elements which would come out with time.
A wine 'Gourmand' as the french would call it.
I would recommend this wine to be served slightly on a fresh side.

Amazing bargain for under $10! Impressed everyone, has some flavour, some fruit notes and a little bit of complexity in the middle.

Popped and poured, very good classic Rhone. Reminded me of a light version of a good Rosenblum zin, which is a heck of a deal at this price point.
As with other notes, this was as good or better on day 2.

this is a mini-chateauneuf and a great bargain. ruby red colored with a lovely peppery nose. red fruits dominate the palate, with spice, leather, cedar and grilled herbs. tannins and acid are very wel-balanced. great wine.

Lots of red fruit. Quite acidic. Reminded me of a Portuguese wine: Dao, in particular. There are better from Ventoux, but this did the job with roast lamb.

A favorite QPR. Better after an hour of air.

Popped and poured. Red-purple, light - medium bodied wine. Closed at first, opened up over an hour. Nice bouquet of red fruits, palate of strawberry, cherry, and spice, good acidity, medium tannins, short finish. A decent grenache/syrah blend for $12 and great for weeknight drinking.

Light ruby with some fading. Lots of herbs and tobacco with relatively insubstantial presence in the mouth. OK for the price.

Nice solid everyday drinker. Southern Rhonish qualities, cola and dark fruits. Nicer when first opened; after awhile the tannins took over. Has texture and body.

Great wine, great value.

didn't like this at all. seemed like soda water & grape juice. (but nothing wrong with the bottle.) i don't understand the three different label styles in the label images selection - this bottle had the large 'p' graphic, 'Terrasses', imported by europeancellars.com.

I still think this is a bargain. Dark red. Nose and palate dominated by pepper, coffee and chocolate but enough fruit for balance.

This is a very good $10 bottle of wine. Darker red color, but not purple at all. Nose shows white pepper mocha and aspens. Enough tanin to give the wine structure but no doubt it is ready to drink. Pepper on the palate also with dark fruit and an odd but appealing hint of red ripe apple.
