Blind Champagne Tasting--Bring A Bottle That Represents Value: Three years since I had a bottle of this, and I remember too when I was paying $80 for the 2008. Now, Levant trends $125 - $150.....oh a yearning for the old days of pricing! September 2016 disgorgement. Tangy citrus, yellow apple, and plum (the kind I used to get off my tree which has the purplish/yellow flesh inside...Santa Rosa Plum?). Finishes with a brown spice note, what reminds me of nutmeg. And then a blackberry essence. Hey, when we taste blind, the only thing that matters is what we sense, and I got blackberry. Later with air, there is a slice green apple pie filling with a drizzle of citrus. At 15 years old, this is in a good drinking place, with the chalk signature from past bottles now integrated. Always appreciate the balance and elegance of Levant, this one is right there.

Touches of oxidation initially. Air a time really cranked up the complexity on this one. Lovely balance. Offering some vanilla and coffee notes. Toasty. Showing off its barrel raising in a more classic way. Same with the maturity. This was a hit at the table as I hoped sneaking in a heavier hitter to our 'value Champagne' tasting for a holiday treat.

Great bottle with beautiful golden colour, brioche, rich, fat and complex. A real wine that drinks easily.

Intense, bitter lemon and grapefruit flavors with an impressive acidity. Has a lovely floral nose with plenty of freshly baked bread! Great wine!

ESTG Year-End Tasting (Newcastle, WA): Mmm, some bitter grapefruit pith at first moves to a reductive, snappy, mineral beauty. Nice!
