  • Another absolutely great bottle of this. Super expressive, complex, layered and deep, but with excellent freshness too. Notes of dark plum, menthol, spices, tar, graphite, cedar wood, as well as some tobacco.... It‘s full-bodied and powerful, with pretty high acidity and medium tannin that has melted aways a little more since my last bottle and that is excellent quality. Long finish with so much class and complexity. Superb bottle.

  • First attempted drinking experience with this producer and it might be my last. Corked right out of the gate. No need to taste the TCA. Down the drain.

  • Ready and fabulous. Still has many years ahead.

  • Incomplete Brovia 2004 horizontal (Garblet Sue' was missing).
All wines have been opened around 3pm and have been drunk (blind) over dinner in the evening starting around 9pm. No TN has been taken but the wines were commented openly before disclosing their labels. Later we continued drinking them and the leftovers even the day after.
This was on the same flight as the plain Barolo and showed more elegant and refined, but was clearly also in top form and assertive. Tannins were even better integrated (or better buffered). I thought it was the Rocche (having mistook the "normale" for the Ca' Mia). It still has many years to go.

  • Opened and double decanted about 8 hrs before dinner. Paired with pasta & white truffles and steak & fries. My cellar is pretty bare on truly old Barolo, but still was in the mood given the truffles. In short-this feels like in an in between stage, but drinking well- pretty great with the steak; needs time for that truffle pairing. Dark red fruits and floral notes dominate the nose. Resolved on the palate, though still a bit compact. Probably needs another decade or two for it to get where its going, and if this weren't my last bottle, I'd be eager to go along for the ride.
