PnP that showed beautifully from first to last sip. Very much in its preferred plateau with time in hand, as well. Med+ body, elegant, layered with textbook aromas and flavors. A lengthy finish, ripe tannins, developing complexity though still too early for tertiary notes. Wonderful experience. highly recommended
Yummm. Before composing this TN I read previous ones from other CT members and must concede I could do no better (and probably a lot worse) than Karl,1480. This is an elegant Chianti and was, IMHO, not suited to the spag and meatballs and a family dinner as we did. This is a wine that deserves some thought and consideration. Don't know how long this will last or improve, probably a decade or more, but you can't go wrong drinking it now. Expensive here in BC but I did not begrudge a penny I paid for it. A wonderful wine.

100% Sangiovese. Deep ruby color with edges of brown. Aromas of ripe dark fruit, plum and hints of leather. On the palate, more fruits, leather, still fresh, interwoven acidity, moderate tannins, long finish. Great chianti to drink now!

Starts off with some coal smoke and tobacco. With air there's cherry and raspberry fruits and a hint of meat and leather. It gains depth and tannins are relatively relaxed. It drinks nicely today.

This wine sings right out of the bottle with pronounced intensity to the aromas. Deep and layered nose with sour cherry, fresh raspberries, luxurious tea, dusty gravel road, pine tree, lavender, fresh procini mushroom, rose petals, cured meats and the list goes on.
Lovely silky mouthfeel with high acidity, medium(+) tannins and medium(+) body. Great intensity to the flavors that shows the same complexity as the nose does. Very polished and refined feel to this wine. Very long finish.
I've tasted a couple of the Chianti Classico Annata and the Riserva from Monsanto and had my ups and downs with them. This was the first time I had the Il Poggio and what a stellar wine this is. I guess this is just in the beginning of it's drinking window and could easily age for a decade more.

Clear, pale intensity, ruby color.
