  • Performing at its usual superb level. Beautifully balanced, savory, smooth as silk, with a long finish. Classic Baron. One of the greats. Ready to drink with years to go. A reason to own and cellar Bordeaux.

  • Wow!!!!!! New Year's eve 2020; I was so disappointed and underwhelmed by this wine, (a rating of 93,), I have never been near it until now. What a difference 3 and half years have made. It is truly magnificent, and for myself the wine of the vintage, leaving the first growths at the starting line, with only the Lynch Bages as a contender. It is a fully mature Paulliac, fully integrated with tertiary characteristics. The nose is deeply seductive with musty old leather, deep blackcurrant and plum, and hints of violet. The palate is perfection, with a depth and complexity which are jaw dropping. The finish, likewise is stunning, but lacks that little bit extra to warrant a perfect rating. Possibly the greatest Pichon Baron of all time? Just pop and pour and stopper between drinks.

  • As always, this wine was rock solid. I believe this wine is one of starts of 1990 vintage and does not get the recognition it deserves. Tertiary notes present but no signs of this wine tiring. This wine will easily last another decade or two.

  • Second blind wine from @Alastair🙏🙏🙏

Oh boy where we all over the map and needed a lot of hints.

So opulent and clear new world taste. So Napa? No!

Who does such ripe style but still everything in balance? Could this be a well aged Vega Sicilia? No🤨

When he said he 1990 and admitted it was Bordeaux 😳 what is this. After going thru what I could not be eventually got to Baron… superb showing an apex but no rush for probably 15 years.

    98p

  • Decanted for 2 hours. Stern nose, espresso, graphite, black fruit, tobacco and some bottle funk. Firm palate, deep and surprisingly young with hard, polished tannins and moderate acidity.
