Elegant, signature Jamet nose with Iron, pepper, leather and black currant. Palate is silky and smooth. No heat at all. It gained more weight after some air. Great winemaking.

Weekend in Westport; 8/25/2021-8/29/2021 (Westport, CT): First time with this wine and I was pretty excited to get a chance to try these. It's meaty and gamey and black fruits and very enjoyable. It's drinking well which is nice. Was meant to pair with chicken but ended up being an after dinner sipper and it worked quite well for that.

I had a stash of 3 bottles of 2000 but this is first time I noticed "Côte Brune" on the label. Whether the two previous bottles were the same or not I can no longer check, but the wines are very similar with fragrant aromas of griotte cherries, metal, grilled meat, violets and olives on the nose. Likewise the palate is medium bodied at most but with lovely savoury fruit, minerals, a little pepper, lively acidity, silky mouth-feel, enough tannic grip and decent length. At first sip before food, the acidity was prominent but a mouthful of duck sufficed to bring it into lovely balance. Very good.

My favourite wine of the evening. Beautiful nose with bramble fruit, white pepper, stems, brown sugar and spicy. Very smoothe on the palate with punchy weight. The grip of this wine surpassed the 88,92,99,03 and 14.

About as close to the platonic ideal of Cote-Rotie as you can get with its scents of black olives and underbrush and meaty red-fruited palate. The fruit is lighter than many and for now takes a back seat to its softly tannic structure. It doesn't compromise the clarity of expression, just makes the texture a little fuzzy.
