My first cote brune from Jamet. It showed dilineation. The first 30min this wine was close to 94 points but then it started to weaken and by the end of the lunch a good amount of oxidative notes were present. Don't decant unless you are splash decanting to remove sediments otherwise serve from bottle directly.

Big and meaty wine, but also soft and elegant. Drinking this on a night in early December, it's hard to imagine a wine that pairs better with this time of year. It smells and tastes like an old library with dark wood panels and oil paintings in gold frames on the walls. Leather, tobacco, that sort of thing. Really great.

The ‘97 Jamet Côte Brune was hauntingly good captivating us all with its kaleidoscope array of aromas. Coal smoke, tar, bacon fat and scorched earth. Ethereal palate with so much depth, complexity and focused acidity. Very long finish. Ridiculously good for the vintage and definitely the best red of the evening. Jamet Côte Brune with age is the truth.

beautiful wine, smelled of savory meat stew boiling on an open campfire. Lithe and contained on the palate with a long sweet ethereal shot of fruit with calming acidity. Minerality gave the wine a little sparkle and lift.
Decanted for 2 hours and served over the course of 6 hours.

Occasional dinner group. Keller, Coche Dury, Guigal La Landonne plus some ringers. (By PVa @ Monarh in Tilburg, The Netherlands): The bouquet is a dream, garrigue, leather, minerals, animals, tobacco and rustic impressions. Same on the palate. Round, a firm amount of good and fresh acidity and a great length. Slightly drying in the finish.
