From a low-fill bottle with a missing lid. The color is pretty brown. PnP, dried roses with mixed berries. 1H later this evolves into a soft, gentle textured juice with sous bois. A good bottle should be fine but this is now several years past from its prime.

A small gathering at Bryan's (Bryan's place): From an excellent source. Beautiful clear red color. Unfortunately, there is too much VA via nail polish. Generous sweet fruit, strawberry, maraschino cherries, dry orange, tea and caramel. There isn’t much iron. Fully mature palate, sweet red fruit, very fluid, bright acidity, low mineral, and a long sweet red fruit driven finish with VA at the end. VA is too strong. I have feeling that this may be a correct bottle based on the other tasting notes. Caveat emptor.

Opened this two nights ago--it was medium purple, had clear edges, minimal browning. Thick swirl--14% alcohol. Tannin 3, acid 3 fruit 3, glycerin 3. well balanced, but seemed tight despite some oxygenation. Faint hint of oranges, dried violets. Seemed better as the meal progressed. Kept wanting to drink a bit more. two of us drank about 2/3 the bottle. Corked it, placed it on the kitchen cabinet and went back to it this evening. What a nice surprise--opened up lots of orange, walnuts. Very smooth, initially suggestion of sweetness though very dry. Nice lingering aftertaste. This one has taken its time. The cork was removed with an ah so but was soft tho sound. 18.5/20 Got this in 1980 as a sale wine--list 18.99. It was very hard, tannic, and closed in. Probably why is was on sale as an 11 year old wine.

From Don's cellar and I thought a beauty, he did not. Certainly all secondary at this point but doesn't feel like its going over the hill.

Day 1 in Piedmont (Vietti, Prunotto, & Bartolo Mascarello) (Piedmont, Italy): Brought from the States. Poured a dark brown color and had some sweet balsamic notes on the nose. We let this stand on the counter for a while, but it never turned the corner.
