Burdgundy village wines from top producers (East Treasure, Clarke Quay, Singapore): An excellent village, still going strong after more than 20 years in the bottle. The nose had a hint of the whole cluster wine-making, with shades of boiled herb, exotic spices, and then a lovely hit of blueberry and dark cherry. So very Morey, and very lovely. The palate was a step behind. It may have had a bit more weight a few years ago, but there was still plenty of charm on it, with lovely, pure, fresh flavours of blueberries and dark cherries riding towards a long finish on an earthy, herby, slightly more structured base. Lovely balance and poise throughout. Very nice indeed.

Dinner at Jade Palace. Deep browning, very mature in appearance. Dried roses, raisins, barnyard, old leather and tea leaf on the nose. Decent structure on the palate, with apricot, prunes, plums, soy meats, leather and mushrooms. A good effort for a 20 plus year old village, but probably would have been better 5 years ago.

(Dujac Morey St.Denis) Medium-pale ruby-red. The nose is heavy with the musky scent of strawberry, raspberry and the smoky stems - it’s a beauty. The palate has a soft entry that nicely widens with the help of understated acidity. The equally soft tannin is still there as an undercurrent as you head into a finish of creamy baked red fruit and still just a little bitterness - here for the first time the acidity is not so seamless. As is usual for this village cuvée in a reasonable vintage, it’s still not quite ready to drink at 12 years of age, but I’m happy there are more in the cellar!
(Dujac Morey St.Denis) Medium-pale ruby-red centre further reducing in intensity as you head for the rim. The nose is a sweet mix of stems and hint of red and orange. Concentration is on a higher level than the colour suggests. Good acidity and a slightly coffee tinged finish. Delicate and pretty much open for business - but absolutely no rush as the balance is very fine - I'll drink the remaining six over the next 10-15 years.

Crimson color, earthy, wood, developed in the glass, tasty with a long finish.
