Understated nose of earth, fruit, warmth, a kind of baking spice, palate of subtle black fruits, velvety texture, surprisingly long subtle-spice finish.

Highly disappointed. Poor nose with some simple fruit. High acid. Very narrow. Not what I what expecting from a 13 yr Bordeaux. It was not past its prime. And it was not young. Simply simple.

(at Del Frisco's - Boston) Classic leaning, mature Bordeaux that showed earth and fruit. Maybe missing that something special that I found in the 2016. Good. (91)

The moment the cork was removed perfume filled the table.. wow! Cherry and cassis on my palate, with a medium to long luscious finish, silky tannins and luscious mouthfeel.
I learned that this is no longer a "2nd wine" of LCC, since it is made with grapes from a separate vineyard.. This 45 Ha Cru vineyard plot is located to the west of the Leoville Las Cases vineyard.
Enjoyed over a pizza one Friday evening with SKT, thanks for sharing 🍕 🍝 🍷 I guess I love my namesake, Saint-Julien!
Blend - 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot and 8% Cabernet Franc, with alcohol content at 13.6%.
Longevity - Tannins indicate that this may go on for the rest of this decade, till 2030 at the least.
