I've had this many times over the years, with some bottle variation (notably one corked and then one excellent at the much-missed Sharrow Bay in October 2018). Last Sunday a good friend gave me another bottle in memory of that Sharrow Bay dinner. I am delighted to say it was absolutely textbook mature St Julien in perfect condition. Decanted an hour in advance and drunk with roast lamb. Fresh, still some black fruits, cedar, tobacco, wet leaves, damp earth, long finish. A lovely bottle. Thanks, Jude!

Small glass, brief note. I've always been a fan of LLC 1986, so was looking forward to this. Some old Bordeaux earth and funk, but good black fruit with plenty of stuffing. Very good now.

Decanted for about an hour, and the nose changed from funky cellar odors to faintly of fruit. Suspicions lingered about the cork until the wine had time to open up. Once open it was light bodied, slightly tannic, and fairly uninteresting. It wore its age poorly, without much structure or character. Maybe past its prime.

Saturday Blind Tasting - Bordeaux '03 and Older (Chevalier Fine Wines): Blind. Served in a 86 horizontal. Riper and pruney aromatics. Polished, bright fruit with good freshness, but a bit thin and simple. My least favorite of the flight.
