Blind Dry Rieslings: Tasted blind. My #8, Group #4. The nose is funky, smelling like sweat and old cheese. This blows off a bit with air, and some limey citrus notes come out. The palate is a bit better, with lemony flavors, but it's still funky and bitter. The texture is thick but there's enough acid that it finishes clean.

(Hirsch Riesling Gaisberg) ($56.00) As perfect a dry Riesling as you’ll ever find; fantastically precise, juicy and salty, refined and exotic. Grand Cru exemplified!

Honeysuckle and wet stone aromas. Rich white peach flavors that quickly develop a stony character which lasts through the long finish.

The expression is tight but there is lots of fruit waiting to open. Fresh with lots of acid. A complete wine waiting to open. Nice.
