Under screw cap. Medium yellow. Lovely floral, apple, and guava aromas. Medium body, not as dense as many Smaragds but still enough glycerine to give the impression of sweetness. Fresh fruit and early petrol beautifully juxtaposed supported by an excellent acidic core.

Showing very sweet apricot fruit, but balanced and very fresh and pure. Really focused wine, a full bodied but controlled pleasure-mobile. Has many years ahead too, just getting starated, really.

Dinner at Sun Wah (Chicago, IL): Not a huge fan of this Austrian riesling. It's clear there's tons of botrytis based on the nose alone, and there's a pretty generous amount of petrol as well. Pineapply and ripe, with the fatness and heat that kill a riesling for me. I'm not keen on the waxy texture here either, as it seems to accentuate the heat.

Medium yellow. Stone fruit and then some secondary fusel on the nose. A big boy with ripe peach, some exotic fruit, and definite sweetness followed by finishing minerality. Great glycerine feel. Power and weight rather than reticence or subtlety. Mature at this point.

Mild tropical fruits (slight peach/ apricot). Intense. Good acidity. Lots in reserve. Minerality. Lingering finish. Really enjoyable.
