Community Tasting Notes (4) Avg Score: 90.7 points

  • Day 1: hard to get past the intense petrol notes on this one. Almost like sniffing kerosene.

Day 2: the intense petrol gave way to spicy, smoky tones. Not a lot of fruit in the nose, but on the palate you get white peach, citrus, mountain herbs. Beautiful mouthfeel on this wine.

I’d say this needs at least another 3-5 years to show its best. What’s there is good but it’s just hiding beneath the surface. I happen to love Austrian Riesling but I can see this being ‘too much of everything’ for lots of people. It’s like a Clare Valley Riesling on steroids.

  • took a bit to get going. initially there was a bitter finish that was off-putting. eventually smoothed out. some petrol on the nose. decent fruit and acidity. solid but a bit underwhelming for the scores/price

  • Subtle. The mineral finish sneaks up on you - the first taste is of more fruit, the first scent more floral.

Twenty minutes later, I can still taste the melange of stone and citrus.

    Rated +1 on a scale of -1 to +3.

  • Wonderful nose of lemon and stone - light, yet pervasive and entirely consistent with the taste that follows - like a gauze, the citrus infused warp with a thread of mineral running through the weft, it floats above the palate, and lingers.

    Rated +1 (maybe +2?) on a scale of -1 to +3.
