Complex aromatics of iron, smoked meats, musk and black cherry. It has good flesh, is dense, deep and luscious. There’s ample structure just below the flesh and the wine really builds through the palate, finishing savoury and dry. It is one of the best young BdM Corton Rouge that I can remember.

Day Five in Burgundy: Bonneau du Martray, Clos de Tart, Faiveley, Niellon (Cote d'Or): Tasting at domaine. Red and black cherry aromas with thyme and tarragon. Same fruit flavors, perhaps slightly more black, also lots of spice. Very powerful and dense, just slightly backward, but with great flashes of energy. 93-94 point potential for me today.

Terroirs de Corton - Les Grands Jours (Corton Burgundy): Wine tasting. Lush fruit with good spice start. Lots of power in the middle with very impressive acidity and textures all the way through with good finesse. Overall slightly more exciting than when tasted a few days ago.

Very young Corton and hard to rate at this point. It does not give away much of what is typical for the vintage. Good fruit but I miss the transparency and magic.

Les Domaines Familiaux de Bourgogne (Paris): Too much of everything, a bit too monolithic and from the sweeter side, very rustic indeed
