Unlike my last, this bottle was a lovely aged Marsanne. Some toast, some nuttiness, some sun-ripened orchard fruit all singing from the same piece of music.

Moyenne long.
A boire maintenant selon moi.

One of the benfits of getting old (and having old friends) is the possibility to drink aged wines. And this is just so good: Deep golden color with heavy tears. Broad nose dominated by yellow apples, wax, a bit of honey, and big dose of slate and chalk minerals. Complex. Full bodied attack, the first attack on the tastebuds is a sweet sense of honey and wax, then a refreshing acidity kicks in and lifts the wine to an area of red/yellow apples. The aftertaste is a bit honeyed, but also with a good dose of minerals. Very good acidity for this wine. An impressive Hermitage, but - as all white Hermitages I have tasted - maybe a bit monolithic. Perfect to drink now, but this will probably keep for decades to come.

This had been decanted prior to my being poured a sample. I was only given a 2oz pour and thus didn’t have the luxury to wait additional time for it to open up. My pour smelled very much like beeswax predominately, with some faint honeysuckle, white butter, flint and some savory herbs. I concur with the previous posters who mentioned quince, pear and some nuttiness on the finish. This wine is in a fantastic place right now.

Highly reductive nose, started out like a nice vegetable soup(I quite enjoy this). After an hour or two this blew off. Very weighty and concentrated on the palette with very ripe or bruised pear or yellow apple. Some nuttiness on the finish, and some grip too. Light delicate creaminess later on as well. My first NR white and I’m excited for more
