Lovely colour at its core, fresh and vivid looking for its age but with a pronounced brick edge. The nose is dominated by earthy so as of mushroom, truffle, damp earth, pickled veg. Surprising youthful palate with damson, blackcurrant, complex truffle flavours, incredibly vibrant end long. A remarkable wine which I was lucky enough to enjoy courtesy of a very generous friend who also brought along a Mouton Rothschild '83, not bad hey?

The wine is bricky and rose hued in color. With a nose of smoke, tobacco, fresh herbs, flowers, plum cherry and wet earth in the aromas. After 15 minutes in the glass, the wine softened and unfurled, leaving you with a good concentration of flavor, which is incredible, as much of grapes were from young vines. The wine is silky, ending with sweet, spicy, plum, cherry, earth and cashew nut flavors. The wine is fully mature and does not require additional aging. But I suppose the point is moot, because unless you have a bottle in your cellar, it's going to be impossible to find it in the marketplace these days.

MNSC (The Pawn): explosively sexy nose of mocha, chocolate and jammy cherry fruit. smooth and velvety, although it didn't hold up in the glass as well as the left banks. still, and absolute stunner.

Eastside Tasting Group End of Year Extravaganza (Newcastle, WA): From magnum, booyah! Crazily fresh, black fruit, plum and spirit. Loads of chocolate. Really hedonistic.

Disappointing bottle. Soil and dark red fruit tones. Btu an overriding sweetness to the palate without character or nuance. 90-
