  • Wonderful light nose of wet old leaves, leather and earth with very ripe strawberries. The palate is lightweight, a bit sweet. While it's not a very acidic wine, the acidity anyway is stretching a little outside the frame. Good for the vintage and very drinkable. Tasted aside the 2007 which is in an entirely different league.

  • Wonderful nose of red berries (raspberries?) and gingerbread spices. Smooth in the mouth. Very long taste with a nice touch of almond. Perfect to drink now.

  • Really an overachieving wine. Color was a medium cherry-pink red with a slight orange undertone. Nose was a spicy, earthy red fruit array. We opened--but did not decant--the bottle an hour before a dinner featuring rosemary chops followed by a Bucheron cheese. Since Dawn spent the weekend (on a family visit) traipsing in the Burgundy minefield, taking shots for the team (a corked '01 followed by a completely shut down '05), I'll go with her note: a 3-d wine that is all sunshine and spice on the attack with a silky, earthy finish that goes on and on. In between the fruits bounce off the roof of your mouth in layers of flavor. Elegant.

Hard to add to that, but I will note that it also features a pleasant, medium body nicely supported by tart, yet pliant acids and that the tanninic backbone is fully integrated. Drinking well now.

  • Christmas Eve wine with Beef Bourgouignonne. Gave this one an hour of air in the glass== it opens up dramatically. Medium ruby color with a slightly paling rim. Enveloping aroma of black cherry, cinnamon, earth, rasins.. very nice. Sweet rasberries and cherries on the attack, then expands on the mid-palate with cinnamon, earth, a panalopy of red fruits. Medium bodied, light and lively, elegant, good balance, any tannins are buried by the fruit. Never fat, but lovely and sweet and balanced. Cherries linger in a really nice way on the finish.
