Fully mature and time to drink (at least from my sourcing and cellar storage, ymmv). This is quite good. Doesn't feel overripe or fat, just well-aged Burgundy. Not mind-blowing either, but a totally solid Volnay. I've found that many 2003s are aging rather quickly and most should be slated for relatively short term consumption, though I haven't recently checked in on GCs or sturdier CdN 1ers.

Another bottle from this burgundy house having absolutely beguiling perfumed aromatics; wildflowers, violets, rich red cherry fruit; a bit sternly structured on Day 1, this softens out beautifully by Day 2. A delicious young wine, this should age effortlessly for decades.

Seems slightly over the hill upon opening, but does settle in a bit. Still big and ripe, almost new world in style. Hard to say whether it's worth holding longer to see if this goes anywhere for the better.

Light(ish?) reds and a riesling (Greenlake): The disappointment of the night. Strange nose showing loads of smoke and camphor, with mint and medicinal notes. Nice on the palate, with loads of acidity and rather herbal. Seemed closer to light cough syrup than wine... We kept hoping that the mess would blow off, but it was not to be...

4/19/2018 - Alex G. Does not like this wine:
Central Coast Pinot in a Burgundy bottle. Candied nose, hot alcoholic palate in a bath of jammy fruit. This is just a mess.
