Community Tasting Notes (2) Avg Score: 94 points

  • 1983: Best Cali Chard ever tasted. Stood up to 1983 Batards and Chevaliers. Blind, I would not have believed it California.
2001: May ultimately be as good as 1983. We didn't have the 1995 for comparison. 92 now but further development expected.
2002: Huge disappointment, overoaked and underfruited. Reserving one bottle on off-chance of ultimate improvement; pouring the remainder for those who enjoy drinking trees. NR.

(Mount Eden Vineyards Chardonnay Santa Cruz Mountains) Medium dark golden color; mature lemon and lemon peel nose with a touch of oak; youthful, sweet and tart lemon palate with minerality and good acidity; medium-plus tart finish (no malolactic fermentation this year, according to the winemaker)
