  • This is a wonderfully aged, layered Chardonnay which is great to drink today. It had not the sheer depth of the Aubert Lauren Chardonnay 2006 we had next to it but was still quite amazing, especially for such an old Chardonnay. The acidic backbone keeps this young and fresh. No rush to drink.

TN: At first a bit stinky cellar smells which quickly and mostly blew off with some swirling. Underneath is a nicely aged Chardonnay with low alcohol displaying passion fruit, pineapple, baking spices and some wet stone minerality. Very pleasant and round with a bright acidity. Medium complexity and length only but with a fairly good precision.

Decanting: A 30 minutes to 1 hour decant will likely do the job.

  • What a wonderful wine at age 25. Popped and poured. Cork fell apart and there was a little gap in the fill. Wine showed age in the color, but not more than I would expect for the age of the wine. Good out of the bottle, and improved with a bit of air. Held strong for at least 45 minutes and maybe longer but we did not revisit. Great fruit, still showing plenty of ripe fruit and a concentrated, long, finish. Makes me excited for the 2012 at age 25...even more so for the 2012 Reserve...A-

  • Brought to my wine group's annual white truffle dinner. Served with roasted sea bass, sauce americain (lobster) and covered with white truffles. Bought this recently from a reputable wine shop on sale for $ 25.00, but otherwise unsure of the provenance. A beautiful wine. Light golden in color with hints of orange. A little must on the nose that blew off in time to reveal apple and minerals. All 6 at the table were amazed at the palate which several considered to be very burgundian. Somewhat big, but balanced and delicious blend of steeliness and minerals with hints of lemon and apple. Long beautiful finish. Just remarkable for a 19 year old CA chard.

  • Similar experience from another bottle earlier this year. Color appeared to be a deeper yellow this time around, at least when it was compared to an '09 chard. Nose: floral, meyer lemons, soft butter. Palate: Full-bodied, waxy, creamy, lemon meringue. Smooth finish. Very enjoyable, mature CA chardonnay.
