With Michael Lehmann and Brett Raven at Singer & Foy survey of new California wines. Yellow gold. Pretty light color. Excellent; complex, toasty, barnyardy nose like Chassagne-Montrachet. Not too intense though. In the mouth, buttery; unfolds in the mouth. Seems ligher than other vintages. Not what I expected. 5-11-15-7: 88/100

(Mount Eden Vineyards Chardonnay Santa Cruz Mountains) Medium dark golden color; savory, butter nose that changed to a fresh lemon and tart orange nose after 10 minutes in the glass; tart rounded orange and lemon palate with minerality and a touch of botrytis; medium finish (improved and then held strong for over 2 hours in the glass)
