  • This bottle was mid shoulder so my expectation was not high , cork came out in one piece and wet through
Colour deep garnet only and the edges were pink - a big surprise 15/15
Nose medium intensity, very Bordeaux - ish nose , fruit present plums black currant cigar box cedar liquorice, oak spice nice complexity and balance 27/30
Palate med to full bodied .resolved tannins and acidity on the palate , spice , dark chocolate, earthy , tobacco , nutty toffee coffee , 41/44
Overall a great example of aged Cabernet 39years old , still in great condition , especially considering the level was done 9/11

  • Even though down to the mid shoulder and the cork cumbled on removal the wine was still brick red with a mahogany edge. Amazing nose (very mature Bordeaux like) and wow! was this wine smooth. All the tannins had been resolved, the fruit was still evident and it had an absolutely amazing long finish.

I will be looking for more Tahbilk Cab Sauv wines - what a deal they are (although they have to be cellered for a few years)
