This was singing. The cork was in great condition, no sign of seepage. The wine was polished and had the trademark tahbilk nose. Few markers of cabernet, which I enjoyed. The wine is drinking at peak, and a great value. Graphite, cedar, savoury moreish.
Drink up, no upside anticipated. Decanting and sieving recommended. Heavy sediment.

Note: Opened 7 days early, racked & recorked under gas.
Colour: Dark Garnet Nose: Sweet tobacco, light spice, lift, dark blackberry, dried grass & hay. A lot going on Palate: Vibrant & alive with great length & redcurrant fruit. Very subtle tannins that dry slightly but well balanced
13%. All agreed the wine was absolutely at its peak. What old Tahbiliks are reputed to be!

Clear pale red/brick core of moderate intensity out to a mahogany edge and browning rim - Developed Clean nose of moderate+ intensity of light fruit, worchestershire, alcohol, charcoal, lifted earth, cloves - developed and complex bouquet Dry wine with birght acids that are fully integrated and some lifted flavours with some volatility and tobacco notes - fully developed. Moderate+ acids, mod to mod- body, mod alcohol and mod- fully developed tannins. The finish is very long with cognac notes. Fully mature - has definitely hit it's peak and is delicious. Would not have liked to wait for any further development but is delicious now - could have sniffed the aromatics all evening. Not bad for $13 in 1987!

Lots of bottle variation. 1 of 3 was good. The others were too old.
Drink up
