From magnum. Dark and foreboding, nice enough when opened but after about 2 hours, even with rich food, the palate was flat and showing its alcohol (15+%) in an unattractive way. Far from my favorite expression of Barbera and unlikely to improve.

From magnum. Gorgeous bright ruby color. Red cherries and significant alcohol on the nose. Sweet red berry mix with a hint of plum skin and cherry cough syrup. Tasty.

Dinner at Trelio (Clovis Ca.): (mag) LOVE me some Voerzio....killer Barbera! Dark ripe berry fruit, some wild and red....smooth and creamy, yet dusty with firm dry tannin, and orange acidity. Very aromatic Indian spices, fresh flowers...little tar and dried roses...perfect roundness and balance. This drank well all night...one of my favs!

James Suckling - Great Wines of Italy (SF): Grippy. Well integrated oak. A bit acid deficient. Precision ripeness.
