Pale/medium garnet/mahogany core, pale mahogany rim. Nose is developed, gamey, spicy with underlying red fruits and just a touch of white pepper. Medium bodied, very spicy and gamey, soft tannins, fresh acids, finishes well. There is a faint touch of pepperiness, but plenty of sweetness and gaminess too and it all comes together quite nicely. This is an excellent 04 which I would say is at its peak now and likely to stay there for the next 3 years or so.

This was an odd bottle bought as a bin end from the Wine Society(UK) in a lucky dip of Burgundy. I wasn't expecting too much (2004s) but it was a delight. Instant pleasure from the nose of violets and hay and farmyards, sweet almost rich damson fruit with layers of spices, ending well with balancing acidity. Lovely. WoFW 16.5/20

Lovely wine. Opened up very well. Still fresh and with silky tannins. Ripe, not green. Elegant and refined.

Good juicy, crowd-pleasing fruit, not showing any infamous 2004 "green" notes but is not the most sophisticated or elegant wine ever.

Lovely, sexy barnyard on the nose, and good long fruit, acidity and balance on the palate. Drinking beautifully now.
