Light+ mahogany to brown rim. Distinct developed notes of dry forest floor and sous-Bois alongside chalk dust, dried cranberry, soaked Morello cherries. Smoky notes start to seep through as the wine opens in glass. The entry has a dense, chalky texture with a smear of succulent fruit: redcurrant and a strawberry with a bit of granola. The tannins kick in earlier as firm and drying and build towards the finish. The back palate is a little vegetal and the fruit seems to evaporate.

Quite elegant & lovely, still quite fresh even after 10 years. Still some raspberry notes & nice acidity, with secondary notes of mushroom & licorice. Not as complex & sublime as one expects from a Vosne-Romanee, but a solid, pretty wine. Drink now.

Terroir-istes International - France, Burgundy, Vosne-Romanee (Rodwell House): Bright crimson red, particular modern vivid fruit style with effervescent perfume, bordering on baked strawberries and raspberries. Very ripe with lively acidity, richly textured with noted attributes of crushed rocks, minerals cherry drops. A little hard with drying tannins at the finish and medium length suggest more village than 1er cru but has power and perhaps needs time.
