Damn good. Very much an old school, STGT Cote-Rotie. Red fruits, green and black olives, herbal and peppery notes, and a savoury meaty and saline character throughout that makes it so fun to drink. Still youthful with plenty of grip to the grainy tannins, but a producer I definitely need more of.

Fun, funky, delicious nose. Earthy, muddy, meaty, a little bit of leather, black olive, dust, black pepper, plum, fruit soaked in soy sauce? 'Sauvage'. Acidity and tanins are great, medium-medium+ More dark fruit, spice, baking spices on the palate. A little violet as well. Excellent stuff.

Excellent. Already drinking very well with some tertiary notes emerging. A wine with endurance that didn't exhibit any considerable drop-off over a few hours. Very good value.

Like a previous reviewer, I had not heard of Champet before, and this, my second bottle of the 2012, in my introduction. Wow. Deep leather, smoke tar. Incredible balance and finesse with rich flavors and a terrific QPR. I am looking forward to trying other vintages and watching this age.

First time trying this producer. The nose was lovely, with loads of peppery bacon, game, meat, and red fruit. Palate had more of the same with a mineral streak. Good acidity and medium tannins. The palate didn’t excite as much as the nose did, and a levet/jamet this is not, but for the price it’s a great bottle.
