  • Not a producer I'm familiar with, but seemed a decent bet to accompany our Barnsley chops, and it was absolutely in the zone; I contend that Northern Rhone Syrah benefits more from age than any other style of wine, and here is exhibit A. Ineffable nose, with a characteristically intoxicating melange of smoke, meat, truffle and perhaps even some dark fruit. Totally delicious on the palate, with a Bloody Maryish 'so savoury, yet also so juicy' quality, and perfection with the fatty lamb and its anchovy-dressed side salad.
